(p. 38) aḍḍamu aḍḍamu. [Tel.] n. Obstacle, hindrance, A screen. అభ్యంతరము, ఆటంకము, చటు. A pledge తాకట్టు నీ మాటకు అడ్డము లేదు no one will resist you. వాండ్లకు మాకు గోడ అడ్డముగా ఉండినది there was a wall between them and us. ఒక నగను అడ్డము పెట్టి యిరువైరూపాయలు తెచ్చినాడు he pawned a jewel and got twenty rupees. నా పనికి అడ్డము వచ్చినాడు he opposed my endeavours. మొగుణ్ని అడ్డముపెట్టుకొని తానే అన్ని పనులు చూచుకొనిపోయినది she used her husband as a screen and carried on the business. వాడు తండ్రికి అడ్డమాడుతాడు he opposes or contradicts his father. తిరుపతికి పోయేలోగా మూడేళ్లు అడ్డమువస్తవి there are three rivers to cross on the way to Tirupati. ఏదో ఒకటి వచ్చి అడ్డముపడినది something has got in the way. వానికి అడ్డము తగిలినారు they interrupted him. కొంతదూరము దోవనే పోయి అవతల అడ్డము తిరిగినాడు or అడ్డము తొక్కినాడు he went along some way and then cut across. 'కరాగ్రములు దృష్టులకడ్డమిడుచు.' BD. iv. 1532. అడ్డముగా aḍḍamu-gā. [Tel.] adv. Crosswise, across, transversely. చెట్టు కండ్లకు అడ్డముగానున్నది the tree intercepts the view, నేను అడ్డముగా నిలిస్తిని I stood in his way.

(p. 106) ākatrāḍu āka-trāḍu. [Tel.] n. The string used to tie the churning rod to a post. కవ్వమును తగిలించుటకై తరికంబమునందు కట్టెడు త్రాడు.

(p. 179) eṇḍa enḍa. [Tel.] n. Heat, sunshine, glare, radiance, ఎండయెక్కినది the sun is high. చిరుఎండ the soft heat of the morning or evening; రేయెండ moonshine. వాడు వచ్చినప్పుడు నిండా యెండయెక్కినది it was late in the day when he arrived. ఎండకాచునప్పుడు when it is hot. నీకు ఎండ తగిలినది, or, నీ ముఖమునకు ఎండతగిలినది you look hot or fatigued, ఎండకన్నెరుగనివాడు one whose 'eye knows not the sunbeam,' i.e., who lives in the shade. ఎండకాలము eṇḍa-kālamu. n. The hot weather. ఎండగట్టు eṇḍa-gaṭṭu. v. t. To tie up (as a cloth) in the sun to dry. ఎండిపోవు. ఎండదెబ్బ eṇḍa-gāli. n. A burning wind. ఎండగోట్టు eṇḍa-goṭṭu. v. i. To dry up or wither ఎండిసోవు. ఎండదెబ్బ eṇḍa-debba. n. A stroke of the sun. ఎండదొర or ఎండరేడు eṇḍa-dora. n. The sun. ఎండపొద్దు eṇḍa-poddu. n. Noon. ఎండమావి eṇḍa-māvi. n. The mirage మృగతృష్ణ. ఎండబెట్టు eṇḍa-beṭṭu. v. t. To put out to dry. ఎదురెండ the sun against the face.

(p. 196) ēṭu , i.e., వేటు ēṭu. [Tel.] n. A blow. దెబ్బ. జారు ఏటు తగిలినది the blow grazed (his head.)

(p. 286) kīliñcu kīlinṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To put on or in (flowers, shoes, &c. to another,) to deck with, insert, set. తగిలించు, కట్టు. తలకౌగిలించె మధ్యఘటమును she put the pail of toddy on her head. కీలితము kīlitamu. adj. Bound, tied, knotted.

(p. 288) kuṇḍa kunḍa. [Tel.] n. An earthern pot. A pot. కుంచుకుంట a bell metal pot. A gilt ball on the crest of a tent, &c. కలశము. A bush in a carriage wheel ఇరుసుతగిలించే బండికంటి నడిమిగుబ్బ. కుండగోకరి kunḍa-gōkari. [కుండగోకు+అరి.] n. A cook. వంటవాడు (వల. ద్విపద, 2. భా.) కుండపోగులు Same as కుండలములు. కుండమార్చు kunḍa-mārṭsu. v. t. To exchange one thing for another. ఒకటినిచ్చి మరొకటిని పుచ్చుకొను.

(p. 323) koliki koliki. [Tel.] n. The tip or end. మొన. A hook or loop కొక్కి. The corner of the eye near the nose ముక్కు కంటిన కంటిమూల. దారమునకు కొలికికట్టినది she made a loop in the string. ఈ దాన్యమునందు కొలుకులు తెలుగు in this poem the terminations of words alone are Telugu. కొలికితెచ్చు to master సాధించు. కొలికికివచ్చు to become subject to one, to come into one's power. వాడు ఏడు ఊళ్లను కొలికికి తెచ్చును he will put seven villages on one ring, i.e., he will have them under his thumb. కొలికిపూస koliki-pūsa. n. The chief gem in a necklace. కొలికికి తగిలించేపూశ. కొలికిముడి koliki-muḍi. n. A noose: a loop. వదులుముడి.

(p. 327) kōti kōti. [Tel.] n. A monkey. తాను చెడ్డ కోతి వనమెల్లచెరిచినది 'one sickly sheep infects the flock.' కోతిపుండు బ్రహ్మరాక్షసి యైనట్లున్నది it is like making' mountains of molchills. కోతికొమ్మంచి kōti-kommanchi. [కోతి+కొమ్మ+అంచు or అనుచు.] n. A certain game. కోతివన్నె kōti-vanne. n. Monkey colour, i.e., brown. కోతిపుల్లలు kōti-pullalu. n. Certain sticks fixed in a loom. మగ్గపుపలకదారములను మీదికి తగిలించే పుల్లలు.

(p. 364) gāyamu gāyamu. [Tel.] n. A wound. క్షతి. నాకు గాయము తగిలినది I was wounded. గాయగాడు a wounded man.

(p. 1402) goṇija or గొణిద goṇiḍza. [Tel.] n. A hook into which a bolt fastens. తలువు గ్రంధ తగిలించే ఇనుపమెల.

(p. 1402) grande grande. [from Skt. గ్రమధి.] n. An iron ring fastened to a door. ద్వారబంధము లోలగువాని నిలువులయందు బిగగోట్టిన మెలలకు తగిలించెడు తలువులయందలి ఇనుపపట్టె.

(p. 438) caṅka ṭsanka. [Tel.] n. The armpit. బాహుమూలము, కక్షము. The gill of a fish. చంకకాళ్లు crutches. చంకతాళి ṭsanka-tāli. n. A bundle or load hanging down under the armpit. చంకను తగిలించుకొను మూట.

(p. 407) caṣālamu chashālamu. [Skt.] n. A chalice, or cup used in sacrifice. A ring attached to the sacrificial post in a horse sacrifice. రాజ మాయము నందు యూపస్తంభమునకు అడుగున తగిలించే కడియము.

(p. 423) cīḍu chīḍu. [Tel.] n. A skein or bundle of seven punjums or a hundred threads. చీడుదబ్బ chīḍu-dabba. n. An instrument used by weavers for winding the thread. మాలి చీడు తగిలించుటకు వెదురుబద్దలతో గుమ్మటమువలె కట్టబడిన సాలెవానిసాధనము.

(p. 501) tagiliñcu tagilinṭsu. [Tel. causal of తగులు.] v. a. To apply (paint, a bandage, punishment, a rule, the law, &c.) To fasten (a bolt, &c.) To inflict (pain.) To attach, fix, insert, lock, bolt, hang on, stick into, అగ్నితగిలించు to set fire. నన్ను ఆ పనిలో తగిలించిరి they involved me in that business. వానికి సంకెలలు తగిలించిరి they put fetters upon him. తగిలించుకొను tagilinṭsu-konu. v. a. (middle voice) to put on, apply to oneself, to become involved in, to catch, to contract. రోగమును తగిలించుకొను to catch or contract disease. సంకిళ్లు తగిలించుకొన్నాడు he put on fetters.
