(p. 32) aṭṭu aṭṭu. [Tel.] n. A cake roasted or baked (on an iron plate.) పెనము మీద కాల్చినది. ఇందున గురించి ఊరంతా అట్టుడికినట్టు ఉడుకుచున్నది the whole town is in a stir about this. (Homer, Odyss. xx. 10.) The whole town rings with the news. అట్టుకట్టు aṭṭtukaṭṭu. v. n. To be formed, as a cake. అట్టువలె నేర్పడుట. అట్టు పుట్టానవాలు aṭṭupuṭṭānavālu. n. An exact description. యావత్తు వివరము. అట్లతద్దె aṭlatadde. [Tel.] n. Cake-day, a feast that falls on the new moon in the month of Aswija when women offer buns in payment of vows. Plural అట్లు.

(p. 148) uṇḍrāyi uṇḍrāyi. [Tel. ఉండ+రాయి] n. A ball of rice flour boiled in steam. ఉప్పినపిండిని ఉండలుగా చేసి వండినభక్ష్యము. ఉండ్రములు, ఉండ్రాలు, ఉండ్రాళ్లు uṇḍrāḷḷu. n. Cakes offered to the gods and particularly to Ganesa. ఉండ్రాళ్లపండుగ or ఉండ్రాళ్లతద్దె a feast kept by women who pay their vows by such offerings.

(p. 505) tadda or తద్దయు tadda. [Tel.] adv. Much, exceedingly. మిక్కిలి, విస్తారము, అత్యంతము.

(p. 505) taddinamu tad-dinamu. [Skt. తత్+దినము.] n. Lit. 'That day,' i.e., a commemoration anniversary, or annual mourning for deceased persons. తద్దినముపెట్టు to keep or celebrate 'that day.' తద్దినముకొని తెచ్చుకొను (proverb) to run one's head against a wall.

(p. 505) tadde tadde. [Tel.] n. A ceremony or feast. పండుగ, as ఉట్లతద్దె, అట్లతద్దె.

(p. 807) potti potti. [Tel.] n. A thin soft, old cloth, మెత్తని సన్నని పాత వస్త్రము. An integument, coat; skin, bark. నార, పట్ట. కొబ్బరిగల మొదలైనవారిని పొదిగియుండేది. Also, a torch, దివిటీ. పోకపొత్తి the coat or skin covering the upper part of an areca tree. అరిటిపొత్తి the coat or skin on a plantain tree. పొడుముపొత్తి a snuff box, (literally, a piece of bark folded to contain snuff.) పొత్తి or పొత్తిగుడ్డ baby linen. పొత్తినూలు fibres used in garments made of bark. M. XII. vi. 221. పొత్తిపంచ bombasine cloth, woven of silk mixed with cotton. పొత్తిక pottika. n. Same as పొత్తి. Doll's clothes, a gaudy dress for an idol or for a little girl. 'బొమ్మపొత్తికలడిగితికొమ్మ యిందమనుచునిచ్చె తాదెచ్చిన యుంబరములు.' M. IV. v. 308. పొత్తికడుపు potti-kaḍupu. n. The abdomen, or belly below the navel. వస్తి, క్రీగడుపు. పొత్తిగడ్డ potti-gaḍḍa. n. A certain medicinal root called కరికారి, విశల్య, పొత్తిదుంప. పొత్తిచీర potti-chīra. n. Cloth made from the fibres of the bark of certain trees. నారచీర. పొత్తితామర potti-tāmara. n. A species of the lotus flower which does not open wide, ముడుగుతామర, నమస్కారి. పొత్తినూలు potti-nūlu. n. Silk thread. పొత్తినూలికాయ or పొత్తినూలిగూడు potti-nūli-kāya. n. A cocoon. పొత్తిలి pottili. n. Baby linen. పొత్తిగుడ్డలు. 'లీలబొత్తిలిమీద లేచి కుర్చుండుచో తద్దయునొక క్రొత్తముద్దుచెలువు.' KP. vi. 207. పొత్తిలి సొర or నల్లదిండి pottili-sora. n. A kind of gourd, Rhynchobatus ancylostomus.

(p. 861) bamba bamba. [Tel.] n. The sound of a conch. శంఖాదిధ్వని. adj. Large, స్థూలము. 'భవ్యహస్తముల బంబలింగంబుల బాపనివారు.' L. xxiii. 8. బంబోతు bambōtu. (బంబ+పోతు.) n. A fat bull. పోతరించినయెద్దు. A very fat person, మిక్కిలి బలసినవాడు. 'బంబోతద్దాసరి, యడువుల, బదహతులం, గపోణిపోటులు.' A. vi. 28.

(p. 1024) meracu meraṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To flash, as lightning. తళుక్కని ప్రకాశించు. మెరపు, మెరుపు, మెరము or మెరుము merapu. n. Lightning. తటిత్తు. Brightness, brilliance, ప్రకాశము. మెరపుతీగ merapu-aīga. n. A streak of lightning, తీగవంటి మెరపు. మెరము or మెరుము meramu. v. n. To rankle, or fester. మెరమెరలాడు. కంటిలోగాని పుంటిలోగాని లేక మనసులోగాని మెదులు. కంటిలో నెరసుపడి మెరముచున్నది the mote fell into his eye and pain was caused. 'మెరమెరభావంబులోన మెరమగమరియున్.' T. ii. 85. టీ మెరమగ, అనగా బెళికింపచేయుచునుండగాను. v. a. To cause pain or mortification. మెరమెరలాడించు, నొచ్చునట్లు మెదలించు. 'మెరుగుగైదువుగ్రుచ్చి మెరమినట్లైన.' HD. ii. 214. మెరమెర mera-mera. n. P. ii. 97. మెరమెరపడు mera-mera-paḍu. v. n. To doubt, hesitate, సంశయపడు. మెరమెరపాటు mera-mera-pāṭu. n. Impetuosity of hunger. Mental distress, మెరమెరపడుట, ఆకటితహతహ. మెరమెరమను or మెరమెరలాడు mera-mera-manu. v. n. To rankle or fester. మెరము, కంటిలోగాని పుంటిలోగాని లేక మనసులోగాని మెదలు. To suffer pain, బాధపడు. 'తనుమున్ను పలుకుట తద్దయునపుడు, మెదులుచు మదిలోన మెరమెరమనగ.' Dabh. 224. మెరయు merayu. v. n. and a. To lighten, to gleam: to glitter, to shine, ప్రకాశించు. To come to light, బయలుపడు.
