(p. 205) oṇṭimpu onṭimpu. [Tel.] n. Convenience, aid, help. అనుకూల్యము. వానికి రూకలు ఒంటింపు కాలేదు he had no money at hand. వానికి ఒంటింపు తప్పినది he has no longer the means of doing it.

(p. 508) tappu tappu. [Tel.] v. n. To err, fail, cease. To be lost, broken, changed, made void, or erroneous. దైవానుగ్రహము తప్పినందున through the divine favour being lost. To drop off, as a shackle. To go off, abate, as a pain. రేపుతప్పినది the ford is missed. అడుగులో పిడుగుతిప్పు a great mistake in a short space. ఆయువుతప్పినవాడయినాడు he declined into the vale of years. v. a. To transgress, to miss. తప్పుచేయు, అతిక్రమించు. దినము తప్పుదినము every other day, missing one day in turn. ఒకటితప్పి ఒకటి one now and then; here and there one. తప్పివచ్చినపని a thing that happened unexpectedly, or out of the common way. మాటతప్పు to break one's word or promise. తప్పక tappaka. adv. Unfailingly, steadfastly, steadily, certainly, surely. తప్పచూచు tappa-ṭsūṭsu. v. t. To disregard. దైవము తప్ప చూచినందున as God withdrew his favour. తప్పు or తప్పితము or తప్పిదము. (తప్పు+ఇతము or ఇదము.) n. An error, fault, mistake, offence. తప్పుపలుకు to say what is wrong or false. తప్పులుపట్టు to find fault with, to cavil. adj. Erroneous, mistaken, faulty, wrong. Foul or entangled. తప్పుకూడు unlawful food. తప్పుటడుగులు పెట్టు to stagger or totter as an infant. తప్పుదారి or తప్పుదోవ a wrong road. తప్పించు tappinṭsu. v. a. To extricate, to set free విడిపించు. To take away, remove, lose, shift, alter. తాడు తప్పించుట to get the cord free, to extricate it. నా జీవనము తప్పించినాడు he took away my living. To elude ముఖము తప్పించు to abscond. To cause to cross over, pass by, transgress, depart from (an agreement.) దోవతప్పించినాడు he misled me. తప్పించుకొను tappinṭsu-konu. v. n. To get free, to escape. ప్రాణము తప్పించుకొని వస్తిని I escaped with my life. తప్పుడు or తప్పుదల. tappuḍu. n. Missing, making a mistake తప్పుట. తప్పుడు adj. Wrong తప్పైన. తప్పుడుపడు or తప్పుపడు to make a mistake సరితప్పు.

(p. 581) daya daya. [Skt.] n. Favour, kindness, grace, regard. Love, affection, attachment. Mercy, pity, tenderness, clemency, compassion. Pleasure, goodness, amiability, a kind heart. కృప, కనికరము. తమ దయ ఎట్లో అట్లు just as your honour pleases. మీదయ thank you. దయచేయు daya-chēyu. v. a. & n. To grant, bestow, allow, give ఇచ్చు. అనుగ్రహించు. To honor or favour with (something) కరుణించు. To come or to go. అక్కడికి దయచేస్తారా will you be pleased to come (or go) there? ఇది దయచేయండి oblige me with this, be so good as to grant me this. దయతప్పిన dayu-tappina. adj. Displeased, disgraced, out of favour ఆయన దయ నామీద తప్పినది. I lost his favour. దయారసము dayā-rasama. n. The spirit of love. Lovingkindness, humanity, benignity, indulgence. దయాళుత్వము dayāḷutvamu. n. Benignity. సర్వదయాళుత్వము universal beneficence, goodness to all creatures. దయాళువు or దయాశాలి dayāḷuvu. n. A kind, gracious, merciful person. కనికరముగలవాడు.

(p. 692) pagaḍamu or పపడము pagaḍamu. [from Skt. ప్రవాళము.] n. Coral. పగడంపుతీగెలు a name of a kind of rice. పగడ pagaḍa. n. An ace; one at dice. ND. iii. 573. నేను పడడమునకు పగడ తప్పినది I was within an ace of falling. I all but fell. పగడసాల pagaḍa-sāla. n. A gaming table. సాగటాల పలక. Diceplay, a particular game played with dice on a coloured cloth, సొగటాల ఆట. 'పందెములు కోరి వైచుచు పగడసాల, తారతోనాడు హరిణాంకుజేరిమ్రొక్కి.' T. iv. 79.

(p. 706) padunu or పదను padunu. [Tel. పది+ఉను.] n. Time, season, సమయము. Temper, sharpness, whetting, వాడి. Moisture, తడి. Goodness of metal. The right degree of softness (in boiled areca nut, &c.) పరిపాకము. ఆ కత్తికి పదును రాలేదు that knife is not properly tempered. దున్నడమునకు ఆ నేల పదునుగా నుండలేదు the ground is not sufficiently moist for ploughing. ఉక్కును కాచడములో పదును తప్పినది he failed in giving the right temper to the steel. 'పదునైనబలువాడిమెరుగువాలు.' HK. iv. 193. పదనుకొను padanu-konu. v. n. To become wet or moist, తడియు. 'సానబట్టిన రాపొడిచల్లి మెదపి. పదనునుధనిడిచేసెనోపద్మభవుడు.' Swa. ii. 40. టీ పదను, చేతితడి. పదను పెట్టేరాయి a bone or whetstone. ఒకపదునువాన one moistening of rain, i.e., so much rain as renders the earth fit for ploughing. One పదను or wetting sinks into the ground about the depth of a plough share: equivalent to 'one inch of rain.' పదునుచేయు to moisten. పొగాకుపదునుచేయు to prepare or cure tobacco in a particular way. పదునుపెట్టు to set or sharpen.

(p. 734) pāṭavamu pāṭavamu. [Skt. from పటు.] n. Health. ఆరోగ్యము. Strength, vigour, శక్తత, దార్ఢ్యము. Ability, cleverness, నైపుణ్యము. గానపాటవము skill in singing. Brightness, తైక్ష్ణ్యము. Anir. ii. 65. అతనికి దృష్టిపాటవము తప్పినది he is losing his eyesight.

(p. 1087) rēvu rēvu. [Tel.] n. A landing place, port, harbour; a shore, beach or bank; a ford a ferry. నద్యాదులయందు మనుష్యులు దిగుటకు యుక్తమైనచోటు; నదులందుగాని సముద్రతీరమునగాని సరకుల ఎగుమతి దిగుమతిచేయుటకు యుక్తమైనచోటు. A seaport కరషాకపట్టణము. Also, Same as రేగు (చెట్టు.) (q. v.) రేవు or బాకి రేవు a washing green or whitster's yard. ఓడరేవు a harbour or sea-port. బండిరేవు a wharf or common shore. రేవుతప్పినది the ford is not now passable, the water is not fordable. చల్లగడ్డలు తవ్వేవారికిగాని దాని రేవు మరి యెవరికి తెలియబడదు the place that produces this root is known only to those who live by digging for it. రేవుబోయ rēvu-bōya. n. A boatman; a sailor, ఓడ నడపువాడు.

(p. 1252) śiva ṣiva [Skt.] n. A jackal. నక్క. శివ or శివాణి n. An epithet of Durga, the wife of Siva. పార్వతి. శివః or శివుడు ṣivah. n. The god Siva, the third member of the Hindu Triad. రుద్రుడు. శివంకరుడు or శివతాతి ṣivan-karuḍu. n. One who confers happiness or fortune. క్షేమంకరుడు. శుభకరుడు. శివబ్రాహ్మణుడు ṣiva-brāhmaṇuḍu.n. A Brahmin of the Siva creed, a Saivite Brahmin of the Siva creed, a Saivite Brahmin, లింగధారి. శివమతము or శైవము ṣiva-matamu. n. The Saiva sect or religion, శివము ṣivamu. n. Welfare, happiness, prosperity. శుభము, సుఖము, మాంగల్యము. Inspiration by the deity or by an evil spirit; spossession by a demon, ఆవేశము. శివమాడు or శివాలాడు to play pranks as if possessed by an evil spirit. శివము పుట్టించు ṣivamu-puṭṭinṭsu. v. a. To spur on, instigate, incite. పురికొలుపు, పుల్లలుపెట్టు. శివరాత్రి ṣiva-rātri. n. A festival in honor of Siva held on the fourteenth day of the waning moon in the month of Magha as sacred to Siva. మాఘమాసకృష్ణపక్ష చతుర్దశినాడు వచ్చే శివసంబంధమైన ఉపవాసదినము. శివలింగము ṣiva-lihgamu. n. The phallus worshipped on the emblem of Siva. శివుణ్ని పూజచేసేమూర్తి. శివలోకము ṣiva-lōkamu. n. The abode of Siva. రుద్రుడు ఉండు స్థానము. శీవలోకప్రాప్తులైరి, లేక, శివలోకమును పొందిరి they died; (this is a Saivite phrase.) శివవెర్రి ṣiva-verri. n. Demoniacc fury. ఆవేశముచేత వచ్చినపిచ్చి. 'మొదలశివవెర్రియాపై ముదిమదితప్పినది కోపముననాడిన నీవదియెరుకచేసి కొని యల్గుదురె.' Vaijainti. iv. 45. శివ శివ ṣiva-ṣiva. interj. O lord O lord! P. i. 517. శివశక్తి ṣiva-ṣakti. n. A holy nun, a female mendicant. ఒక మహాయోగురాలు. శివాలయము ṣiv-ālayamu. n. A temple of Siva. శివునిగుడి.

(p. 1292) satyamu satyamu. [Skt.] n. Truth, veracity, reality. ని౛ము, యథార్థము. An oath, ప్రమాణము, ఒట్టు. (Vulgarly,) the miraculous power of a deity. (పామరలవాడుకలో) మహాత్మ్యము. adj. True, real, sincere, genuine, truthful. యథార్థమైన, ని౛మైన. సత్యప్రవర్తన truthful behaviour, upright conduct. adv. Yes, verily, truly, indeed, నిజమేను. సత్యముగా చెప్పు to avow, to vouch for. సత్యముచేయు to swear. ఈ అమ్మవారు బహుసత్యము కలిగినదేవత this is a true goddess. భగవత్స్వరూపముల యందు సత్యము తప్పినది the gods have now lost their power, the images now ceased to work miracles. సత్యప్రతిజ్ఞ a sincere promise or vow, తప్పనిమాట. సత్యయుగము satya-yugamu. n. The Golden Age. కృతయుగము. సత్యలోకము satya-lōkamu. n. One of the fourteen heavens of the Puranas. సత్యవంతుడు satya-vantuḍu. n. A truthful or sincere man. సత్యవచస్కుడు or సత్యవాది satya-vachaskuḍu. n. One who speaks the truth, a man of veracity. నిజస్థుడు. సత్యవతి satya-vati. n. A truthful woman. సత్యముగల స్త్రీ. The name of the mother of Vyāsa, and the wife of Narada. సత్యవాక్కు or సత్యవాణి satya-vākku. n. A true statement. సత్యవ్రతుడు satya-vratuḍu. n. One who is devoted to truth, one who is sincere or honest. నిజానికి పాటుపడేవాడు, పెద్దమనిషి. సత్యసంధుడు satya-sandhuḍu. n. An upright man. నిజస్థుడు. సత్యహరిశ్చంద్రుడు one who is as truthful as Harischandra, i.e., a very truthful man, (sometimes used ironically also to mean a liar.) సత్యాకృతి, సత్యంకారము or సత్యావనము saty-ākṛiti. n. The ratification of a bargain, an advance of money, earnest money, క్రయవిక్రయములు గట్టిమాట, బయానా, ౛ట్టి. సత్యానృతము saty-ānṛitamu. n. Commerce, trade, traffic. వాణిజ్యము, వర్తకము.

(p. 1371) smārakamu smārakamu. [Skt.] adj. That reminds, that refreshes the memory. తలంపును పుట్టించే. n. Consciousness, sense, స్మృతి, తెలివి, బుద్ధిస్వాధీనము. ఆ దెబ్బచేత నాకు స్మారకము తప్పినది the blow made me unconscious. నాకు స్మారకము వచ్చినతరువాత after I came to my senses or recovered my consciousness.
