(p. 509) tamalamu tamalamu. [Tel.] n. The Betel vine. తమలంపుటిరులు (A. iv. 175.) Red and bluish tints, తాంబూలపురక్తిమలో చేరిన నీలకాంతులు. తమలపాకు tamala-pāku. n. The betel leaf.

(p. 509) tamma tamma. [Tel.] n. A quid. The chewings of the betel leaf which are of a red colour. నమలబడిన తాంబూలము. తమ్మతసుకు or తమ్మతొట్టి tamma-tasuka. n. A spittoon, తమ్మపడిగము. తమ్మకర tamma-kara. n. The red spittle caused by తమలపాకు.

'మనపురికావలి వారిని, దనరగబిలిపించియడుగ దగువారలుపోహిణయిటువలెవచ్చినదని, వినిపింతురు నడచుగతులు పృధ్వీనాధా.' Bdj. iv. 67. పోహణించు pōhaṇinṭsu. v. a. To string together. గుంభనచేయు, కూర్చు. (p. 863) baṭṭa baṭṭa. [Tel.] n. Cloth, clothes. వస్త్రము. తడిబట్టతో గొంతుకోయడము to cut the throat with a wet cloth, i.e., to kill by slow torture. adj. Dappled, mottled with white and black or red. బట్టావు a dappled cow. Bald, వెండ్రుకలూడిన బట్టతల a bald head. వెండ్రుకలూడినతల. బట్టతలవాడు a bald headed man. బట్టగుత్తు baṭṭa-guttu. adj. Shameless, సిగ్గుమాలిన ల౛్జలేని. బట్టగెనుపుచెట్టు baṭṭa-genupu-cheṭṭu. n. A certain forest tree. బట్టపువ్వు or నవ్వేతమలపాకు baṭṭa-puvvu. The caricature plant, on the variegated leaves of which there are white marks like faces.

(p. 878) bāra bāra. [Tel.] n. A fathom, the length of the two arms extended. చాచిన రెమడు చేతులనడిమికొలత, నాలుగుమూరలు. పదిబారలు twenty yards. బార or బారా bāra. [H.] Twelve పండ్రెండు. బారచాచు bāra-tsātsu. v. a. To extend. (the arms, so as to embrace.) 'గౌరవమున బారచాచి కౌగిటచేర్చెన్.' T. iv. 146. బారచాపు bāra-ṭsāpu. n. The cloth called Long cloth. చాలా నిడివిగలబట్ట. బారదూలము, బారుపట్టె or బారుదూలము a very long piece of timber, నిడుపాటిదూలము. బారపోయు bāra-pōyu. v. a. To spin, with the arm fully stretched. చెయ్యిసాగునంతవరకు నూలువడుకు. ఏకులబారపోయు to spin thread. బారాది bār-ādi. (బార+అది) adj. A great deal. అధికము. A great many. అనేకము, బహుళము, చాలా. 'ఓరోరిరాచవాడా, రారా నావెంట దిరుగరాదాసుడనై, బారాదిమాడలిచ్చెద కోరానీయప్పుదీర్చుకోరాయనుచున్.' HN. iv. 233. 'వారిరువురుతమలోపల వైరముగొనిరాజ్యకాంక్షవిజిగీషువులై, హోరాహోరింబోరిరి, బారాదిదినంబులననిప్రజలుతలంకన్.' A. iii. 21.

(p. 980) māvaṭamu māvaṭamu. [Tel.] n. A small roll or packet of betel, areca nut, lime, and other ingredients, made up in order to be distributed among guests. తమలపాకులపట్టీ. 'బంగారు చలవలపసమించు తమల పాకుల మావటాలు కొండలుగవైచి.' KP. vii.

(p. 1045) mōda mōda. [Tel.] n. A small packet or parcel of betel leaves. తమలపాకులకట్ట. Also, see under మోదు.

(p. 1112) lō lō. [Tel.] prep. In, within, inside of, amongst, among, of. దారిలో on the road. ఇంటిలో or ఇంట్లో in the house. వచ్చినంతలో on his coming. అంతలో or ఇంతలో in the meantime. The word must be translated to suit the verb with which it is used. Thus, బిళ్లను మెడలో వేసుకొన్నాడు he wore the badge over his shoulder. తలలో వాగా చుట్టుకొన్నాడు he rolled the turban round his head. అత్తలోనుండి విభాగము కాలేదు she is not separated from her mother-in-law's family. ఇంతరాత్రిలో so late at night. తమలోతాము మాటాడుకోలేదు they did not speak to each other. వేలిలోనుండే ఉంగరము the ring on his finger. బిడ్డ నాపక్కలో పండుకొని ఉండినది the child lay down at my side. మాలో అందరు all of us. వాడు అందరిలో మంచివాడు he is the best of them all. (See లోను and లోని.) పనిలో మాట్లాడుట to talk during work, or while at work. చెట్టులో బంకకారుతున్నది gum flows from the tree. అతడు నాచేతిలో కోసినాడు he inflicted a wound on my hand. లో lō. adj. Inner, internal, inside. Inferior, or subordinate. లోగది an inner room. లోకావు a sub-renter or under farmer. లోచెయ్యి the inner hand, i.e., the palm of the hand. లోగొను to take inside, to receive, to contain within itself, లోపల నడచుకొను. లోమనుష్యుడు a reserved or self-contained man. లోగా lō-gā. adv. Within, inside, meanwhile, in the course of, లోపల. పదిదినములకులోగా within ten days. ఈలోగా meantime. ఇది వానికి చేరే లోగా before this reaches him. యాభైయేండ్లకులోగా before he was fifty years old.

(p. 1215) veli veli. [Tel.] n. Whiteness, తెలుపు. The outside or exterior, బయట, బాహ్యము. The external surface of the body, దేహముయొక్క బహిఃప్రదేశము. Publicity, బయలుపాటు. Excommunication, or exclusion from caste, బహిష్కారము. మాలో వెలి అనేమాటలేదు excommunication is unknown in our caste. 'వెలికిగోర్కు లెల్లవిడిచిపెట్టి.' Vēma. 791. adj. White, తెల్లని. (Indra's) white horse, (ఇంద్రుని) తెల్లగుర్రము, ఉచ్చైశ్శ్రవము. వెలిమావులు white mares. 'విమలాంబుదముల బూనిన విమానములనదగవెలసి వెలిమావులు.' M. VII. i. 228. 'వేరొక్క వెలిమావువేల్పుదొరకు.'
