(p. 518) talli talli. [Tel. తాయి+లు. The final ల్లి is the sign of the honorific plural and is doubled on account of the preceding long vowel having been shortened. √ త = she who brings (into existence) or who brings food, &c., cf. తండ్రి.] n. A mother. కన్నతల్లి one's own mother, as opposed to సవతితల్లి a stepmother. In affectionate address తల్లీ 'my dear,' is used even to a daughter. adj. Maternal, parent. తల్లిపశువు the parent cow. తల్లియింటనున్నది she lives in her mother's home. Principal, great, chief, main. తల్లినర or తల్లియొర the parapet wall round a well. తల్లికాలవ the principal channel which supplies others. తల్లిగోడ the principal wall in a house. మీరే మాకు తల్లిదండ్రులు you are my father and mother, you are all in all to me. See under తలి. తల్లికొండ్ర talli-konḍra. The first furrow in ploughing మొదటి కొండ్ర. తల్లితల్లి talli-talli. n. A mother's mother, i.e., Lakshmi. తల్లినికనినతల్లి. A grandmother. తల్లివేరు talli-rēru. n. The fap root or principal parent root. ముఖ్యమైనవేరు.

(p. 521) tāta tāta. [Tel. lit. తండ్రికి or తల్లికి తండ్రి] n. A grandfather. Also, a name for Brahma Dasav. iv. 104. తాతమ్మ tāt-am-ma. n. A grandmother.

(p. 849) prīti prīti. [Skt.] n. Joy, pleasure, delight, happiness, love, affection, regard. సంతోషము, స్నేహము. The name of the wife of Manmadha, మన్మధునిభార్య. దేవునికి ప్రీతిగా చేసిరి they did it in honour of the god, for the purpose of conciliating the god. ముఖప్రీతిమాటలు feigned or flattering words. ఆచార్యులవారికి ప్రీతిగా ఈ గ్రామము నిచ్చినారు they bestowed this village on him as a compliment. తల్లికి ప్రీతిగా ఈ దానము చేసినాడు he gave this in honour of his mother. శనిప్రీతిచేసినాడు he did this to avert the evil influence of Saturn. విష్ణుప్రీతిభూమి lands consecrated to Vishṇu. ప్రీతిదత్తము prīti-dattamu. n. A dowry given to a bride by her father-in-law or mother-in-law. ప్రీతుడు prītuḍu. n. One who is pleased or satisfied, ప్రీతినొందినవాడు.

(p. 962) mallakuḍu mallakuḍu. [Tel.] n. An obstinate man, a forward man. కఠినుడు, గడుసరి. 'క తల్లికిదండ్రికిసుతులకు నెల్లవిధంబులనువలయు హితములు చెప్పన్, మల్లకుడు గాకకర్జము సల్లాపముగాకజూచి సౌజన్యమునన్.' భార. ఆను. iv.

(p. 1182) vimāta vi-māta. [Skt.] n. A step mother, సవతితల్లి. విమాతృజుడు vi-mātṛijuḍu. n. A step-mother's son. సవతితల్లికొడుకు.

(p. 1218) vēndramu vēnḍramu. [Tel.] n. Heat, either of the sun of a pungent taste, ఉగ్రము, తాపము. వేంద్రపడు vēnḍra-paḍu. v. n. To be hot or angry, మండిపడు.' తల్లికి కలనైన దయలేదు నామీద తండ్రియెప్పుడు చూచి వేండ్రపడును.' H. iii. 195.
