(p. 520) tāgu or త్రాగు tāgu. [Tel.] v. a. To drink. చుట్టతాగు to smoke a cigar. తాగించు tāginṭsu. v. a. To cause to drink. తాగునట్లుచేయు. తాగుబోతు tāgu-bōtu. n. A drunkard.

(p. 536) tumpesalu tumpesalu. [Tel. Connected with తుంచు.] n. Movement. చలనము. తుంపెసలాడు or తుంపెసలుగునియు tumpesal-āḍu. v. n. To dance, as tresses; to be agitated, to palpitate, throb or tremble. నటించు, నర్తించు, చలించు, ఆడు, ఊగాడు. 'హారలతాగుళుచ్ఛముల్ తుంపెసలాడ.' Parij. ii. 9.

(p. 735) pāḍu pāḍu. [Tel.] adj. Waste, desolate, dismal, dreary, neglected, ruined, dilapidated. శూన్యము. Cursed, blasted. Horrid, vile, sad. ఇల్లు పాడువేసిరి they left the house empty. పాడుమాట sad news, a horrid story. పాడుచలి horridly cold. పాడుతోట a neglected garden. పాడుతాగుబోతు an abandoned drunkard. పాడునేల waste ground. పాటిమన్ను or పాటినేల rich soil. పాడునొసలు a blank forehead, i.e., one unadorned with the tilacam. పాడుజ్వరము a wasting fever. పాడువాన cursed rain. n. A wreck, waste, ruin, desolation. శూన్యము. A village. పల్లె. పాడుచేయు pāḍu-chēyu. v. a. To spoil. To waste, ruin, throw away. పాడుపడు, పాడరు or పాడు పారు pāḍu-paḍu. v. n. To become waste or desolate. పాడునుయ్యి pāḍu-nuyyi. n. A disused well.

(p. 741) pāyi pāyi. [Tel. singular of పాలు.] n. Milk. పాలు. Breastmilk, బాయి. [Skt.] n. One who drinks. త్రాగెడివాడు. A drunkard, తాగుబోతు.

(p. 819) pōtu pōtu. [Tel.] n. The male of certain birds, animals and plants, పశు పక్షులలోమగది. ఆబోతు an ox, వృషభము. ఎనుబోతు a male buffalo. మేకపోతు a he-goat, a ram. నక్కపోతు a male fox. గొడ్డుపోతు a barren woman. పోతుటీగ a male fly. పోతుటేనుగు a male elephant. పోతుకరుడు the bigger surf, పెద్దఅల. పోతుతాడు the male palm tree. పోతురౌతు, an epithet of Yama, the god of Death, యముడు. పోతుపిల్ల, a male young one. పశుజాతిలో మగపిల్ల. పోతుపిల్లి a tom cat. పోతు sometimes means one who is addicted to, as తాగుబోతు a drunkard. తిండిబోతు a glutton. తూగుపోతు a sluggard వదురుబోతు a chatter box. పోతుపిచ్చిక or పెద్దపిచ్చిక pōtu-pichchika. n. The Ashy-crowned Finch Lark. Pyrrhulauda grisca. (F.B.I.) పోతురాజు or పోతరాజు pōtu-rāḍsu. n. The name of a rustic god, like Pan, worshipped throughout the Telugu, Canarese and Mahratta countries. He represents the male principle associated with the village goddesses Gangamma, Peddamma, &c. A proverb says పాడుఊరికి మంచపుకోడుపోతురాజు in a ruined village the leg of a cot is a god. cf., 'a Triton of the minnows' (Shakespeare.) బమ్మెరపోతరాజు the name of a certain poet. పోతులరాజు pōtula-rāḍzu. n. A name given to a large hound.

(p. 857) baṅgi or భంగి bangi. [H.] n. Bhang, or Indian hemp, Cannabis sativa. గంజాయి. Also, the bangy or parcel post or mail. A parcel. బంగిముచ్చు bangi-muṭsṭsu. n. One who smokes bhang బంగితాగువాడు.

(p. 913) bōle bōle. [Tel.] n. A pot, pipkin; a contemptuous word for a vessel. ఓటికుండ, కుండబొచ్చె. నాకు తాగుటకు ఒక బోలెయైనాలేదు I have not got even a pot to drink out of. బోలెడు అన్నము a bowl of rice.

(p. 939) maktā maktā. [H.] adj. Fixed. n. A fixed rate or rent. A contract. మక్తాకౌలు a special agreement given to a tenant. మక్తాగుత్త a contract or lease of land occupied at a fixed rate, and not liable to extra ceases. మక్తాదారుడు maktā-dāruḍu. n. A contractor.

(p. 1111) loṭṭi loṭṭi. [Tel.] n. The small earthen pot used in drawing toddy from the tree. చెట్టునకల్లునొడిచేకుండ. 'మొలచుట్టున్వడదోలు దాననగు బల్మోకావయిన్ గీతక, త్తులు మారేముసలంబు వామభుజమందుం గానికిర్వంకలన్, కలులొట్లొండెడ కట్లనిచ్చెన పిరుందం గొమ్మకాల్చందమున్. తలకోరాముడిగుడ్డయుం దవరప్రాతః కాలమందెప్పుడున్.' Chenn. v. 202. లొట్టిముచ్చు a drunkard, తాగుబోతు. లొట్టిపుండు loṭṭi-punḍu. n. A hollow sore, an ulcer, a sinus.
