Borassus flabelliformis (Watts). పోతు (male) and పెంటి (female) తాటిచెట్టు are two kinds. గొడ్డుతాటిచెట్టు or రామతాటిచెట్టు deformed trees of this species supposed to have magic properties. తాటిపిట్ట tāṭi-piṭṭa. n. The Ashy Swallow-Shrike. Artamus fuscus. (F.B.I.) తాటిబెల్లము sugar made from the juice of the palm tree. తాటిచన్నులు or తాటివెన్నులు the flowers of the palm. తాటికట్టెడ or తాటిగిరిపాము tāṭi-kaṭṭeḍa. n. A snake found on the palmyra trees. తాటిపడగవాడు an epithet of Balarāma or Bhīshma. తాటిరిక్క the constellation called జ్యేష్ఠా. తాటిరిక్కనెల the month called జ్యేష్ఠి మాసము.

(p. 584) davva davva. [Tel.] n. A tender shoot, Pith, the soft part of wood. మ్రానినడిమి మెత్తని భాగము. చెరుకుదవ్వ the young shoot of a sugar cane. ఈ తాటిచెట్టులో అంతా దవ్యగాని చేవలేదు this tree is all pith and has no wood.

(p. 774) pulu or పుల్లు pulu. [Tel. cf. Tam. పుల్.] n. Grass. కసవు. Also, foulness in gems, రత్నాదులమాలిన్యము. పుల్ గృహము a grass house. A. iv. 167. కనకవులు golden grass. adj. Little, mean. పులుమానిసి a little or low man. పులుమ్రాను pulu-mrānu. n. A tree which belongs to the family of the Palms. తాటిచెట్టు మొదలైన తృణద్రుమము. పులుకాసిపురుగు pulu-kāsi-purugu. n. An insect with green wings, పచ్చరెక్కపురుగు. A low person, అల్పుడు. హరిశ్చ. ii. పులుకాసిపులుగు pulu-kāsi-pulugu. n. A parrot. (p. 784) peṇṭa penṭa. [Tel.] n. A heap, as of dirt, sweepings of manure. ఎరువు. Ash, a dunghill. పీనుగుపెంటలు heaps of corpses. పెంటకట్టు to manure land, to dung a field by penning sheep or goats in it. పెంటకై మందకట్టు, గెత్తముపెట్టు, మందఆపు. పెంటపట్టు or పెంట penṭa-paḷḷu. n. An enclosure in which a herd of cattle or a flock of sheep are kept, పసులులోనగు వానిదొడ్డి. Also, a suburb or village, పేట; as రోళ్లపెంట, తుమ్ములపెంట, గొల్లపెంట. పెంటి penṭi. n. A female of a bird, animal or plant. పశుపక్ష్యాదులలో నాడుది. adj. Female: smaller. పెంటికోడి a hen. పెంటి అల. See పోతు. పెంటివిద్య feminine accomplishments. పెంటితాడు the female palm tree, ఆడుతాటిచెట్టు. పెంటిక or పెంట్రిక penṭika. [Tel.] n. The dung of sheep, goats, hares, deer, or rats, &c.
