(p. 525) tāli , తాళి, తాలిబొట్టు or తాళిబొట్టు tāḷi. [Tel.] n. A small piece of gold which the bridegroom ties round the bride's neck as a sign of marriage. పుస్తె, మంగళసూత్రము.

(p. 545) teñcu or త్రెంచు tenṭsu. [Tel. The causal of తెగు.] v. a. To break, snap. తెగజేయు. వాడుతెంచు to break the cord., i.e., to make a woman a widow by breaking the cord which sustains the token of marriage (తాళిబొట్టు.) Hence ఒకనితాడుతెంచు to break a man's cord, to ruin a man. This verb occurs in compounds signifying 'to come' or 'go,' as అరుదెంచు, ఏగుదెంచు, ఏతెంచు, తనుదెంచు, చొత్తెంచు, పరతెంచు, పారుదెంచు, పుత్తెంచు, &c.

(p. 777) puste puste. [Tel.] n. The mark of marriage, being a small gold disc worn round the neck by married women. తాళిబొట్టు. See మంగళసూత్రము, Any charmed bead, though worn on the wrist. పుస్తెబొందు the tali string. పుస్తెముడుపు puste-mudupu. n. A woman married a second time, కంటెబొట్టు. పుస్తెముడుపు కట్టు to marry in an irregular fashion.

(p. 906) boṭṭu boṭṭu. [Tel.] n. A drop. A sectarian mark on the forehead, white, yellow, black or scarlet, long or round. A gold spangle or patch in general. The gold piece attached to the marriage cord. (మంగళసూత్రము.) A three-pie piece. The grammatical sunna or circlet, representing N. or M. నిలువుబొట్టు or సోగబొట్టు the upright line or streak in the forehead which denotes the Vaishṇava sect. అడ్డబొట్టు the cross mark which denotes the Saivites. తాళిబొట్టు the sign of marriage, being a bit of gold tied on the bride's throat. బొట్టుకట్టు to tie the తాలిబొట్టు,i.e., to marry. గట్టిబొట్టు full sunna. నేతిబొట్టు a little ghee. 'తిరుపతి కొప్పులమదముగదీర్చిన బూడిదెబొట్టు, మంచిదేర్పరచినమించునట్టి రుదురాక్కల పేరులు.' S. iii. 99. ఎక్కడ ఉన్నా సరిగా బొట్టు పెట్టినట్టు చిక్కుచున్నది wherever it is, he finds it in a moment. బొట్టుదారము boṭṭu-dāramu. n. The string round the neck from which the tāli is suspended, మంగళసూత్రము.

(p. 932) maṅgaḷamu mangalamu. [Skt.] n. Happiness, good fortune, well-being, welfare, prosperity. శుభము, క్షేమము. The lines at the opening of a poem in praise of some deity adj. Happy, lucky, fortunate, auspicious, prosperous, faring well. శుభమైన. నీకు మంగళమగుగాక blessings upon thee. మంగళదేవత mangaḷa-dēvata. n. Lakshmi. మంగళవారము mangaḷa-vāramu. n. Tuesday. అంగారకవారము. మంగళసూత్రము mangaḷa-sūtramu. n. The cord or necklace with which the తాళిబొట్టు or token of marriage is fastened on the neck of the bride. బొట్టుదారము. మంగళహారతి or మంగళారతి mangaḷa-kārati. (మంగళ + ఆరతి.) n. A lamp used for waving before an idol, శుభకరమైన ఆరతి. Also, the closing verse of a play, the denouement. మంగళాష్టకము a particular kind of song. మంగళాశాసనము mangaḷā-ṣāsanamu. n. A benediction, ఆశీర్వాదము. మంగళుడు man-gaḷuḍu. n. A name of Angāraka, who corresponds to Mars, అంగారకుడు. మంగళ్యము mangaḷyamu. n. The peepul tree. రావిచెట్టు, ౛మ్మిచెట్టు.

(p. 968) māṅgalyamu māngalyamu. [Skt. from మంగళము.] n. Auspiciousness, మంగళత్వము. The marriage token, తాళిబొట్టు, మాంగల్యధారణము tying the marriage knot, i.e., performing the ceremony of attaching the Tali to the neck of the bride.

(p. 1018) mūsika mūsika. [Tel.] n. A tube of gold on either side of the Tail (తాళిబొట్టు) through which the string passes.
