(p. 535) tīrthamu tīrthamu. [Skt.] n. Water. ఉదకము. Holy or sacred water. పుణ్యోదశము. A holy place. పుణ్యక్షేత్రము. తీర్థమాడు to bathe స్నానముచేయు; to be brought to bed. తీర్థము ఇప్పించు to swear a witness; because the oath is administered with holy water. తీర్థయాత్రపోవు to go on pilgrimage. In theological works తీర్థము means salvation, మోక్షము and కుతీర్థము is false doctrine. తీర్థమాడుట or తీర్థమాట tīrtham-āḍuṭa. n. Bathing. స్నానము. తీర్థవాసి tīrtha-vāsi. n. A pilgrim. తీర్థసేవచేయువాడు. తీర్థీకరించు tīrthī-karinṭsu. v. a. To sanctify, hallow, purify.

(p. 555) tairthikamu tairthikamu. [from Skt. తీర్థము.] adj. Appertaining to piligrims. తైర్థికకోటి the pilgrim band or company. తైర్థికుడు tairthikuḍu. n. A piligrim. తీర్థసేవచేయువాడు.

(p. 716) parika parika. [Tel.] n. A kind of bird. పక్షి విశేషము. See పరిగె పిట్ట. A kind of stone, ఒకవిధమైన రాయి. Also, a pattern or diagram drawn on the floor with lines of flour or coloured powder. ముగ్గులు. పరికలువేయు, అనగా ముగ్గులుపెట్టు. 'చ తిరుమల కంచి పుష్ఫగిరి తీర్థములం ౛ని కొంగుములఠ్లతో, నరములు దంపతుల్ వడయ వారక కాన్కలు వైచి యంతటన్, బరికలు దృష్టిదీపములలు పన్నిన గద్దెలు బెట్టి యేమిటన్, గరమగు పుత్రవాంచ కడ గానగలేక విచారభిన్నులై.' (p. 738) pādamu pādamu. [Skt.] n. A foot. అడుగు. A root, వేరు. A quarter, పాతిక. A foot or line of verse being a quarter of a stanza. పద్యములో నాలుగవభాగము. A ray of light, కిరణము. A small hill at the foot of a mountain. కొండదరి దిబ్బ. తమ పాదాలనే నమ్మివచ్చినాను I came in reliance on your honour as my protector. This is a mere conversational compliment, like 'I kiss your hands' in Spanish. పాదతీర్థము water made holy by washing a saint's feet. పాదపద్మములు lotus-like feet. పాదలాక్ష red paint for the feet of women, పారాణి. తమపాదాలసముఖానకు నా కుమారుణ్ని తెచ్చి అప్పగిస్తున్నాను permit me to introduce my son to your honour's protection. వాడు తండ్రిపాదాలమీద పడెను he fell on his father's feet. తమపాదాలవద్ద before your honour, in your presence. తమపాదాల శరణుచొచ్చినాను I throw myself on your goodness. పాదచారి pāda-chāri. n. A foot passenger. కాలిబంటు. One who goes walking, నడచి పోవువాడు. పాదజుడు pādajuḍu. n. A Sudra, because born from the feet of Brahma. పాదత్రాణము pāda-trāṇamu. n. A shoe or boot. పైజారు. పాదపము pādapamu. n. A tree. పాదపూర్ణము pāda-pūrṇamu. n. An unnecessary word inserted in verse, to fill up the measure, such as in Sanskrit the words తు, హి, చ, స్మ, హి, వై, or, in Telugu poetry the words, ఒగి, తగ, మరి, ఇల, మహి , or verbs, చెలగు, ఒప్పు, &c. పాదరసము pāda-rasamu. n. Quick-silver, mercury. రసము. పాదలి pādali. n. A base or low man, అధముడు. 'పాపపు విప్రుని పనికిగామున్ను, తాపికాడైన పాదలిమందడీడు.' HD. iii. 110.

Thirdly, at the third. మూటియందు, మూడవదానియందు. plural మూళ్లు, as పదిమూళ్లు ten times three. మూడు ఎత్తులుగాచేసి laying the garland in three festoons. G. xi. 49. మూడు సరములుగాచేసి. ముక్కాక muk-kāka. 'మింటన్ మ్రోసినమ్రోత తాలిమిని లో మెట్టింపమున్నీపునా యింటన్ బుట్టెదవంచుకంసుడుతొడిన్ హింసించె నీయన్నలన్.' B. X. 102. మెట్టిక meṭṭika. n. A step , మెట్టు, సోపానము. See also మెటిక. మెట్టిమల్లాడు meṭṭi-mall-āḍu. v. a. To trample down or all over, to ruin, హతముచేయు, ధ్వంసముచేయు. 'కర్మంబుల కట్టడలకులోనుగాక మాయలనుమెట్టి మల్లాడి నిర్మలలింగసేవ నెట్టిభక్తిఘటించు.' L. xvi. 229. మెట్టుకు meṭṭu-ku. adv. On the whole, altogether. In fact, in all, at the most, at least, at any rate. In short, at the best or worst, once for all, finally, at last, in the end, after all, withal, yet still. తుదకు. మెట్టుకుపోయినాడు of course he is gone. మెట్టిల్లు (మెట్టిన + ఇల్లు) the mother-in-law's house, ఆడుదాని అత్తగారిల్లు. మెట్టుబ్రాలు sacred rice, తలబ్రాలు.

(p. 1240) śaṅkhamu ṣankhamu. [Skt.] n. A conch shell, a conch used as a horn. The number called 100 billions. కంబవు, నూరుఖర్వములు. దక్షిణావర్తశంఖము a conch the windings of which turn to the right. శంఖచక్రములు the conch and the discus, as weapons of Vishnu. శంకచక్రాలపోగులు round earrings worn by Vaishnavites on which is the form of a conch and of a circle. శంఖమందుపోస్తేతీర్థము (a proverb) lit. any water poured in a conch becomes sacred water; that is, all one says is law! I am to take his word for gospel! జీతముముట్టలేదని శంఖధ్వనిచేయుచున్నాడు he is howling for his pay. శంఖనఖము ṣankha-nakhamu. n. A small or base shell. క్షుద్రశంఖము, నత్తగుల్ల. A perfume, ఒకవిధమైన పరిమళ ద్రవ్యము. శంఖపాణి ṣankha-pāṇi. n. Lit. the conch bearer, i.e., Vishnu. శంఖపాలకులు ṣankha-pālakulu. n. plu. A kind of snake. సర్పవిశేషములు.
