(p. 111) āṭu āṭu. [Tel.] v. n. To suffice: to last, to be enough దాన్ని పోడిమిగా వాడితే యింకా నెల దినములకు ఆటివచ్చును with caution it may suffice for a month. అది ఆటదు or ఆటి రాదు it is not enough. కట్టెలు ఒక మాటుగా తీసికొంటే ఆటివస్తుంది, చిల్లరచిల్లరగా తీసికొంటే ఆటిరావు if you buy your firewood in the lump it will last; if you buy only a little at a time it will not. ఆటు n. Striking. కొట్టుట. Shooting, or rheumatic pain: పోటు (M. VIII. i. 218:) throbbing. నాకు ఆటుపోటుగానున్నది I am in great pain. ఆ పుంటిలో ఆట్లుపోట్లు ఎత్తినవి the boil throbbed much.

(p. 766) puḍuku, puṇuku or పుణ్కు puḍuku. [Tel.] v. a. To pick up, to handle, to take with the five fingers. వ్రేళ్లతోతీసికొను. To pinch. To give a little, కొంచెముగా ఇచ్చు. The tree that grants all that one desires, కల్పవృక్షము. పుడకులు or పుణుకు puḍukulu. n. A kind of cake, భిక్ష్యవిశేషము. పుణికిరించు or పుడికిరించు puṇikirinṭsu. v. n. To give a little. కొంచెముగా ఇచ్చు. To fumble, to twitch or be convulsed, as the fingers picking the sheets, &c., పుణికిరింత or పుడికిరింత puṇikirinta. n. Fumbling; twitching. పుణికిళ్లు, పుడికిళ్లు or పుణుకులు puṇikiḷḷu. n. Poking, shoving. A romping game like Puss in the corner. 'మరియు బుడికిళ్లు మొదలుగామనసువచ్చినాటలన్నియు.' N. ix. 102.

(p. 784) peñcu or పెనుచు penṭsu. [Tel. from పెను.] v. a. To nourish, support, take care of. To adopt or rear a child, పోషించు, సాకు. To increase, improve. To extend or swell. To exaggerate, to multiply. మాంసము మాంసమును పెంచును flesh meat increases the flesh. కలహము పెంచినాడు he fomented the quarrel. గ్రంథము ఊరక పెంచెను he spun the story (or book) out. గడ్డము పెంచు to grow or wear a beard తలపెంచు to wear one's hair long, to keep one's head unshorn. చెవులుపెంచు or చెవులు కుట్టించు to bore the ears. Chenn. iii.145. ముక్కుపెంచు to keep a hole open for a nose-jewel. దుఃఖముపెంచు to indulge in grief, దుఃఖముపొందు, దుఃఖించు. ND. i. 702. రోగమును పెంచినాడు he increased the illness. కథనుపెంచు to exaggerate. See పెంపు & పెంపకము. పెంచుకొను penṭsu-konu. v. a. To adopt. దత్తుతీసికొను.

(p. 849) priyamu priyamu. [Skt.] adj. Dear, beloved, desired. ఇష్టమైన. Dear or high, in price. ప్రియవచనములు చెప్పి దాన్ని తీసికొని వచ్చినాను by using fair words I brought her. n. Love. desire, affection, friendship, ప్రేమ. Joy, సంతోషము. ప్రియములాడు to be kind, to speak kindly. కరణాలకు సలాములు కాపులకు ప్రియము చెప్పవలెను give my respects to the clerks and kind regard to the farmers; (as in English give my love to, &c.) ప్రియకము priya-kamu. n. A tree called మొరలిచెట్టు. ప్రియుడు priyuḍu. n. A lover, a husband, a friend. ఇష్టమైనవాడు, పెనిమిటి. ప్రియ priya. n. A beloved woman. ప్రియురాలు.

An iron clamp for joining boards together. తలుపుకు వేసేయినుపకమ్ములు. The bank of a reservoir or tank. The act of surrounding, ఆవరణము. Secrecy, గోపనము. Obstruction, నిరోధము. బందుకట్టు bandu-kaṭṭu. n. A conspiracy, league, cabal, plot, plan, scheme. జాతికట్టుపాటు. బందుకట్టుకట్టుకొను to be leagued together, to have a private agreement. బందుకట్టుమాటలు slang, such as gypsies use. బందుగుడు or బందువుడు banduguḍu. Poundage fine: a fine for a trespass by cattle. పశువులదండుగ. బందెతీసికొను to exact a fine for stray cattle. బందెలదొడ్డి a cattle pound. బందెకాడు bande-kāḍu. n. One who puts in prison. చెరలోవేయువాడు. బందెకత్తె bande-katte. n. A woman who puts in prison, చెరలో వేయునది. బందెగొను bande-gonu. v. a. To imprison, చెరబెట్టు. బందెలపోతు bandela-pōtu. n. One who is given to imprison people. చెరవేయు స్వభావముగలవాడు. బందెవేయు bande-vēyu. v. a. To impound cattle. To exact a fine for cattle that have trespassed.
