Pebbles which are tossed up, and caught on the back of the hand, in a game played by girls. 'ముదురువెన్నెల గాయ ముత్యాలదిన్నెపై పైడియచ్చనగండ్లు పారవైచి.' Yayati. iii. 149. అచ్చనలాడు or అచ్చనగాయలాడు to toss up balls and catch them on the back of the hand. నలాడండననియె నమ్మునితోడన్.' Jai. Bhar. i. 62.

(p. 67) abba abba. [Heb. Abba. Aryan Pa.] n. A father. తండ్రి. నాయబ్బతోడుగా I swear by my father. వీడు వాని అబ్బ this man is ten times worse than he is. నీయబ్బతో పోయి చెప్పు go and tell your granny. అబ్బ, అబ్బా or అబ్బబ్బా! An interjection of grief or admiration a common exclamation. అయ్యో!

(p. 69) abhicariñcu abhi-charinṭsu. [Skt.] v. n. To roam, stroll. సంచరించు, తిరుగు. అభిచరుడు n. A servant, an attendant. దాసుడు, భృత్యుడు. A companion. సహాయుడు, తోడు. అభిచారము n. An incantation to injure or destroy, a magical ceremony to procure the death of an enemy. హింసాకర్మ, హింసార్థమైన హోమకర్మము.

(p. 98) avyavadhānamu a-vyavadhānamu. [Skt.] n. Absence of interval. వ్యవధానములేమి. అవ్యవధానముగా adv. Immediately. వెంటనే, తోడుతోనే.

(p. 112) āḍu āḍu. [Tel.] adj. Female. ఇవి ఆడుమాటలు these are a woman's words. ఆడుచందము āḍuṭsandamu. The female shape, feminine disguise. B. viii. 445. ఆడుమొర A woman's shriek. R. v. 207. ఆడుతోడు āḍu-tōḍu. [Tel.] A female companion. ఆడుది āḍudi. A woman. ఆడుబిడ్డ āḍu-biḍḍa. A little girl. The sister of a woman's husband. ఆడుముండ āḍu-muṇḍa. An abusive word for a woman: equivalent to slut, jade, wretch. ఆడువీడు woman's town, a place without brave men. See ఆడ adj.

(p. 115) āna āna. [from Skt. ఆజ్ఞ] n. Command or order. ఆజ్ఞ n. Oath, adjuration. తోడు అని ఒట్టుపెట్టుకొనుట. Protestation. ఆన పూర్వకముగా faithfully, according to oath. ఆనలుకడకండ్లు అప్పు మొప్పు oaths are nonsense and a debt is a plague. నీయాన I swear by thee. నాయాన I swear by myself (as in English upon my word, upon my honor.)

(p. 174) ūḍanipāḍu ūḍani-pāḍu. [Tel. ఊడు+అని+పాడు] v. t. To cry ఊడు while running away. To run away. To be put to flight, to be routed. సిగ్గూడనిపాడెన్ her modesty left her. P. iv. 433. వ్యామోహమూడనిపాడెన్ that fascination is now over. 'ఒకనాడు రాత్తి పడుపడు కకుజెప్పక యిల్లు వెడలి గాఢతరతమో నికరమతనతగుతోడుగ నొకరుడు పేరడవిత్రోవ మాడనిపాడెన్.' పాండు. iii.

(p. 200) ērālu ērālu. [Tel. ఎరపు+ఆలు] n. A sister-in-law తోడికోడలు. ఆమె నేను ఏరాండ్లము గనుక as she and I married two brothers. Plural. ఏరాండ్రు.

(p. 220) ōṣadhi ōshadhi. [Skt.] n. An annual plant or herb, one that dies immediately after it seeds. ఫలించినతోడనే నశించుచెట్టు. A medicinal plant మందుచెట్టు. ఓషధీశుడు ōshadh-īṣuḍu. n. The lord or plants, i.e., the moon.

(p. 305) kūḷa kūḷa. [Tel.] adj. Cruel, vile, wicked. క్రూరము, కుత్సితము. కూళస్వరము a harsh voice. కూళ or కూళుడు n. A wicked man, a wretch. కుత్సిత పురుషుడు. An ignorant man మూఢుడు.
