(p. 574) daṅgu dangu. [Tel.] v. n. To be pounded, or cleaned. బియ్యముమీది పొట్టు తీసివేయబడు, దంగుడు danguḍu. adj. Beaten, pounded, cleaned; దంచిన, దంగుడుబియ్యము pounded rice.

(p. 814) pollu pollu. [Tel.] n. Pitchless grain in an ear. బొత్తిగా గింజలుపట్టని వడ్ల సమూహము. Trash, worthless stuff. తాలు, పనికిరానిది. The consonant sound of a letter, etc., A useless word, a slip of the tongue. A lie, a falsehood. అనృతము. 'పొల్లురాదగని దోస్తివి.' Pal. 399. అనగా, అబద్ధము రాగూడని స్నేహమువాడవు. adj. Useless, వ్యర్థము, Sumati, 29. పొల్లునదంచిన బియ్యము corn beaten out of husk of pined grain. వాని పొల్లు వాడు పోసికొని బ్రతుకుతాడు he keeps his blighted grain to himself, i.e., he keeps all his griefs to himself. బంగారుపొల్లు ఉన్నదిగాని మనిషిపొల్లులేదు gold may prove worthless, but man neveer can be so. మాట పొల్లుపోకుండా ఆడుతాడు he speaks without any slips. నకారపొల్లు the letter N. (్) without the vowel sound attached to it as in the words కలిగెన్, చెలగెన్. పొల్లుపోవు pollu-pōvu. v. n. To become worthless. చెబ్బరైపోవు. 'కాళ్ల గొలుసులవారు గడెమస్నెబంట్లు, జోళ్లుగా నున్ణట్టి సురభినాయకులు, ఘల్లుమన్నతిరిగి మళ్లుమనువారు, పొల్లుపోకయని పోట్లాడువారు.' Pal. 107. To lie, tell stories or lies, అబద్ధమాడు. పొల్లుదనము pollu-danamu. n. Dispiritedness, effeminacy, పౌరుషములేమి. పొల్లుపడు pollu-paḍu. v. n. To become useless, వ్యర్థమగు.

(p. 936) manthamu, manthānamu or మంథరము manthamu. [Skt.] n. A churning staff, కవ్వము. మంథము n. An emulsion of medicine in fine powder with four parts of cold water. ఒక మూకుడులో 4 పలముల శీతోదకమును పోసి అందొక పలప్రమాణము ఔషధ ద్రవ్యములను చక్కగ దంచివైచి చిలికి వడియకట్టునది కార్జ్గధరసంహిత, p. 151. మంథనము manthanamu. n. Churning, త్రుచ్చుట. మంథని manthani. n. A churn. మజ్జిగచిలికే కుండ, తరికడవ, గర్గరీ. మంథరజ్ఝువు mantha-rajjuvu. n. A churning rope, తరిత్రాడు. మంథాద్రి, మంథాచలము మంథశైలము or మందరగిరి manth-ādri. n. The name of a mountain which served as a churning rod for the Ambrosia. కవ్వపుగొండ.

(p. 1269) saṃ or సమ్ sam. [Skt.] prefix. When used with Skt. nouns and adjectives, it means beautiful, చక్కని. Much, very, మిక్కిలి. Places before verbs, it means Well, చక్కగా. See. సంక్షోభము, సంక్షోభించు, సంఘటిల్లు, సంచరించు, సంచలించు, సంతుష్టి, సందర్శించు, సంపూర్ణము, సంపూర్తి, సంప్రాప్తి, సంప్రీతి, సంయుక్తము, సంయుతము, సంయోగము, సంరక్షించు, సంస్తుతి, &c. XV. ii. 185. సముద్గతము produced, born, పుట్టిన, ఉత్పన్నమైన. సముద్గమము birth, production, ఉత్పత్తి, కలుగడము, సముద్దండము violent, fierce, ప్రచండమైన, సముద్యతము ready, prepared, సిద్ధమైన. సముద్ధతము rude, ill mannered, misbehaved, మోట, పెడసరమైన, ధూర్తమైన. సముద్ధతి ill behaviour, effrontery, audacity, misbehaviour, ధుర్తత, దుర్మార్గము. (p. 1315) savyamu savyamu. [Skt.] adj. Left, left hand. వామము, ఎడమ. అపసవ్యము the right. సవ్యకరము the left hand. ౛ందెమును సవ్యముగా వేసుకొని యుండినాడు he wore the Brahminical thread on the proper shoulder, i.e., the left shoulder. ౛ందెమును అపసవ్యముగా వేసుకొని యుండినాడు he wore the thread on the wrong shoulder i.e., the right shoulder. నక్తమచరుండుదంచితగతి సవ్యదిశకొత్తతరుమనపసవ్యగతింజాళెంబునహయంబు బోనిచ్చుచు.' Swa. iv. 159. 'నీరుకావులు కట్టినీళ్లదర్బలచేత సవ్యాపసవ్యతల్ చల్లువారు.' Rama Stava. Raj. ii. 74. సవ్యముగా savyamu-gā. adv. Towards the left hand. ఎడముగా. సవ్యసాచి savya-sāchi. n. Ambidexter; a title of Arjuna, because he used both hands equally well. అర్జునుడు. సవ్యేష్ఠుడు savyē-shṭluḍu. n. A charioteer, who stands on the proper side, that is, on the left. రథసారధి.
