(p. 576) dampu Same as దంచు. v. (q. v.) n. Beating, pounding, bruising. దంపుటిల్లు a room in which rice, &c., are pounded. దంపుడు dampuḍu. n. The act of pounding. దంచుట. దంపుడుబియ్యము cleaned rice. దంపించు dampinṭsu. v. n. To cause to pound.

(p. 1153) vāya vāya. [Tel.] n. A quantity of grain put in a mortar to be pounded at one time; so much grain as the mortar holds at once, దంచుటకు రోటిలో నొకసారిపోయు ధాన్యము. A quantity of rice and curry mixed to be eaten. A crack or valley in a hill, కొండసందిచ్చిననేల.

(p. 1345) suvvālu, suvālu, suvvāla, suvāla. suvvalāla or సువ్వి suvvālu. [Tel. సువ్వి+ఆల.] interj. A word or chorus used in carols, like 'derry down down'. సువ్వి sūvvi. n. The noise made by persons while pounding rice, దంచుటయందగు ధ్వన్యనుకరణము.
