S. iii. 282. పార్ష్నిగ్రాహుడు pārshṇi-grāhuḍu. n. An enemy behind an invading king. పార్ణిత్రము pārshṇitramu. n. The vanguard of an army, ముందటనుండి రక్షించుసేన.

(p. 747) pālemu, pāḷemu or పాళియము pālemu. [Tel.] n. Watching or guarding. కావలి. A town ruled by a Poligar or petty baron, పాళెగాని ఊరు. A hamlet, a small village, పల్లె, చిన్నగ్రామము. An army, a force, troops, దండు. A camping ground, దండువిడియుచోటు. Encamping, halting. A barony or county under a petty chief. పాలెమున్నవారు soldiers in garrison. 'మెలకువరసి కోటచులుకదాటి పాలెమున్న వారిపై నొల్కిబూడిదెమన్నుజల్లి, పెద్దమదులు కొంతకూలద్రవ్వి.' G. 120. 'మృగయావిహారముల్ దేవదలిర్పజేయుటకు శీఘ్రమపాళియమెత్తి.' Kālahas. iii. 71. పాలెగాడు or పాళెగాడు pāḷe-gāḍu. n. A feudal retainer, a petty chieftain called a Poligar. పాళెపట్టు pāḷe-paṭṭu. n. Feudal tenure in fee. Villages held by petty chiefs free of assessment. పాళెముపట్టు pāḷemu-paṭṭu. n. An encampment. దండువిడిసినస్థలము. A polygar's estate, పాళెగాని రాజ్యము.

(p. 1167) viccu vitsṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To become open or loose, to burst asunder, as a ripe fruit, to be cracked, split or broken, to be dispersed. విరియు, వికసించు, వీడు, చీలు. 'మబ్బొకయించుకవిప్పవిచ్చుమొగ్గయి మరిపారిపోదురు సమస్తదిశాగతులైనయధ్వగుల్.' A. iv. 170. మొగ్గవిచ్చినది the bud opened. దండువిచ్చి యథాయథలైపోయినది the army broke up and every man went his way. ఆ గోడ విచ్చినది a crack has opened in the wall. ఆ కుండ విచ్చినది the pot cracked. మూసలో లోహముకరిగి కన్ను విచ్చి అడుగునప్పుడు when the melted metal looks quite clear. v. a. To open, loosen, unite, undo; to spread, expand. విరియజేయు, విడిపించు. దాని కొప్పువిచ్చినాడు he untied her knot of hair. కన్నువిచ్చు వారినని చూచినాడు he opened his eyes and looked at them. పాము పడగవిచ్చినది the snake spread or expanded its crest. 'మేడిపండుచూడ మేలిమైయుండును పొట్టవిచ్చి చూడ పురుగులుండు.' Vema. 174. విచ్చు viṭsṭsu. n. The act of being scattered or dispersed, చెల్లాచెదరగుట. adj. Scattered, scattering. చెల్లాచెదరైన. చెల్లా చెదరుచేయునట్టు. విచ్చుకత్తి viṭsṭsu-katti. n. A drawn sword, ఒరదూసినకత్తి. విచ్చుటాకు viṭsṭsu-ṭ-āku. n. A coloured palmyra leaf rolled up and put in the pierced ears of women, in order to widen the bore for an earring. చెవ్వాకు. విచ్చుమొగ్గ viṭsṭsu-mogga. n. An opening bud, విరియుమొగ్గ.

(p. 1186) virugu virugu. [Tel.] v. n. To break or go to pieces. తునియు, భగ్నమగు. To curdle. To fail, to be defeated, to be counteracted. ఓడు, దండువిరుగు, ఒడిపోవు. To be spoilt, పాకముచెడు. దాని మనస్సు విరిగిపోయినది she is quite disgusted. పాలు విరిగిపోయినవి the milk curdled. వానిదేహములో రక్తము విరిగిపోయినది his blood curdled. ఈ మందువల్ల విషము విరిగిపోయినది this medicine counteracted the poison. ఆ బొమ్మచెయ్యి విరుగగొట్టినాడు he broke the arm of the doll. విరగబడినచెట్టు a tree in full bearing. 'మిన్నువిరిగివచ్చి మీదబడ్డట్లు.' Sar. D. 196. 'ఇనుమువిరిగెనేనియిరుమారుముమ్మారు, కాచియుతుకనేర్చుకమ్మరీడు, మనసువిరిగెనేని మరియతుకనేర్చునా.' Vēma. 157.

(p. 1215) veli veli. [Tel.] n. Whiteness, తెలుపు. The outside or exterior, బయట, బాహ్యము. The external surface of the body, దేహముయొక్క బహిఃప్రదేశము. Publicity, బయలుపాటు. Excommunication, or exclusion from caste, బహిష్కారము. మాలో వెలి అనేమాటలేదు excommunication is unknown in our caste. 'వెలికిగోర్కు లెల్లవిడిచిపెట్టి.' Vēma. 791. adj. White, తెల్లని. R. i. 46. వెలిమిడి or వెల్మిడి veli-miḍi. (వెలి+మిడుగు.) n. The ashes of cow-dung fuel, ashes, పిడకనిప్పులబూడిద, భస్మము. 'తెలుపులన్నియు మేలుదెలియంగనిసుక వెలిమిడియెముకలు వెసనుప్పుపత్తి.' A surgeon, one who used surgical instruments. వ్రణ చికిత్సకుడు. శస్త్రాజీవుడు ṣastrā-jīvuḍu. n. One who lives by his weapons: a man at arms a soldier, a mercenary. ఆయుధములచే బ్రతుకువాడు, ఆయుధీయుడు, దండువాడు. శస్త్రి ṣastri. n. One who carries a weapon. శస్త్రమును ధరించువాడు.
