(p. 537) tuḍucu or తుడ్చు tuḍuṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To wipe away (as water or tears.) To blot తడిపోవనొత్తు. To sweep ఊడ్చు. తుడుపు tuḍupu. n. Rubbing, wiping, smearing, blotting, erasure, తుడుచుట. cf. 'ఎగదుడుపు దిగదుడుపు.' తుడుపుబల్ల a wooden plank with which salt is collected into a heap.

(p. 557) tokku or త్రొక్కు tokku. [Tel.] v. n. & a. To step, tread, or perform a dance, అణగదొక్కుట (A. ii. 104.) to pound, stamp, trample on, crush, macerate. పొరుగిల్లుతొక్కక not entering your neighbour's house. పొలిమేరతొక్కు to lay down or define a boundary line by treading on it. కొమ్మతొక్కు to lay down suckers or branches from a tree. తొక్కిచూచు to go and examine in person: to inspect personally. దిగదొక్కు to blink or put out of view, to suppress. తొక్కు. n. Paste, pickle. తొక్కించు or త్రొక్కించు tok-kinṭsu. v. a. To cause to tread, &c. నాట్యము తొక్కించినారు they made him dance. చింతకాయలు తొక్కించిరి they had the tamarind pounded. తొక్కు or తొక్కుడు tokkudu. n. Treading, grinding, dancing, capering, ఇరుకాటము, సమ్మర్ధము, రాపిడి, రారాపు. R. i. 46. Plu: త్రొక్కుళ్లు. P. iii. 76. adj Threshed, pounded తొక్కిన. తొక్కుడుకమ్మి tokkuḍu-kammi. n. A threshold. దొడ్డి తొక్కుకొనిపోయినది it broke out of the fold. తొక్కుపలుకులు lisping words. బిడ్డలువచ్చీరాక అదేమాటలు. తొక్కుడుబిళ్లలు tokkuḍu-biḷḷalu. n. A certain game. తొక్కులాడు tokku-l-āḍu. v. n. To grieve, to be in trouble. తొక్కులాడుచునడుచుట to trudge on, plod, to get on with difficulty.

(p. 592) diga diga. [Tel. from దిగు.] adv. Down. downwards. దిగబడు to go down, to sink. దిగజారు to slide down. దిగగాచు to distil. దిగదిగ diga-diga. adv. Rapidly, brightly. వేగముగా, ప్రకాశముగా, 'గీ అబ్జరుచిదూర్పు దిగదిగయుంచుమెరసె.' BD. v. 4, 14. దిగదీయు or దిగదుడుచు diga-dīyu. v. a. To take down. To disenchant, to avert a spell, or the evil eye, to expel a fiend. దిగదుడుపు diga-duḍupu. n. Waving a lamp to break a spell. Disenchantment, diga-drāvu. v. t. To drink down, to let go, to leave, విడుచు. v. n. To come down, దిగు. దిగనాడు diga-n-aḍu. v. a. To do away with or remove (sin.) To put (a fault) out of view. To lay (a vest) aside. To forsake or desert, విడుచు. దిగబట్టుకొను diga-buṭṭu-konu. v. a. To drag down. దిగబడు diga-baḍu. v. n. To get down. దిగు. To sink or give way. ౛ారు; to remain or be left behind, రాలేక దిగబడ్డాడు he stayed behind as he could not come. దిగబడిన పైకము an outstanding balance. ఈ కాగితము నాదగ్గిర దిగబడ్డది this paper remained in my hands. దిగబెట్టు diga-beṭṭu. v. a. To set out of view, set aside. To leave (a thing behind, through forgetfulness.) దిగబోత diga-bōla. n. Spreading downwards. దిగువకు వ్యాపించుట. వానికి చెమట ఎగబోతలు దిగబోతలుగానున్నది he perspires profusely. దిగరోజు diga-rozu. n. Panting. కుట్టూపిరి. వాడు ఎగరోజు దిగరోజులుగా పరుగెత్తుచున్నాడు he runs out of breath. దిగవిడుచు diga-viḍuṭsu. v. a. To throw aside or leave, to leave behind. విడుచు.

(p. 864) baḍimi baḍimi. [Tel.] n. A circular movement. A ceremony performed to remove the effects of the evil eye, బడియుట. Going round in a circle. చక్రాకార భ్రమణము. A sacrifice to a demon, an animal sacrifice, భూతబలి. బడిద్రిప్పు or బడింద్రిప్పు baḍi-drippu. v. a. To parade, to carry a prisoner around the town in procession before execution. To take away the evil eye. దిష్టితీసివేయు, దిగదుడుచు.

(p. 864) baḍiyu baḍiyu. [Tel.] v. n. To remove the effects of the evil eye. (దృష్టిదోషపరిహారార్థము) దిగదీయు. నై. iii. See బడిద్రిప్పు. బడిసి baḍisi. n. A charm or amulet. రక్ష. బడిసివాటు baḍisi-vāṭu. n. Taking away the effects of the evil eye, దిగదీసివేయుట. That which is thrown away to remove the effects of the evil eye on a person, దిగదీసివేసినది., 'తే బ్రహ్మలోకంబు కాశికి బడిసివాటు.' కాశి. vii.

(p. 946) mataṅguḍu matanguḍu. [Skt.] n. The name of a Rishi. A man of the chuckler or shoe-maker caste. మాదిగవాడు. మతంతజము or మతంగము matanga-jamu. n. An elephant. మతంగస్త్రీ matanga-strī. A chuckler woman. మాదిగది.

(p. 972) mādiga mādiga. [from Skt. మతంగ.] n. The cobbler or shoe-making caste. మాదిగవాడు a man of that class, చెప్పులుకుట్టువాడు. మాదిగది mādig-adi. n. A woman of the cobbler caste.

(p. 1009) murāḷiñcu murāḷinṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To remove the evil eye or an evil spirit by waving round the head some chillis, &c. and throwing them away. దిగదుడుచు. మురాళము .murāḷamu n. The act of removing the evil eye, &c. మురాళించుట.

(p. 1022) metuku or మెదుకు metuku. [Tel.] n. A grain of boiled rice, food, a morsel. దానికి మెతుకుదిగదు she cannot eat a bit. మింగడానకు మెతుకులేదు మీసాలకుసంపంగి నూనె, i.e., he has fragrant oil for his whiskers while he has not a morsel to eat. రెండు మెతుకులుతిన్నారు they took a mouthful, they ate a morsel.

(p. 1344) surāḷiñcu or సురళించు surāḷinṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To wave a lamp or a cup of burning camphor, &c., before an idol, or over a person to avert an evil eye. నీరాజనముచేయు, దృష్టిదోషపరిహారార్థము దిగదుడుచు. To throw away in disdain, నిరాకరించు. 'అర్భకునెత్తుకొనిభూతభయనివారణంబు గాగోపుచ్ఛంబు సురాళించు గోమయంబునందిలకంబుబెట్టి.' Vish. vii. 109. 'కడమపుదండ లెల్ల నొక్కటి గబట్టి బాలకవుడు సురాళించిపారవైచె.' KP. vii. 76. సురాళము surāḷamu. n.
