(p. 115) ādhidhaivikamu ādhi-daivikamu. [Skt. from దేవ.] adj. Superhuman, supernatural. దైవము వల్ల గలిగినది. ఆధిదైవిక తాపములు sufferings due to supernatural causes.

(p. 508) tappu tappu. [Tel.] v. n. To err, fail, cease. To be lost, broken, changed, made void, or erroneous. దైవానుగ్రహము తప్పినందున through the divine favour being lost. To drop off, as a shackle. To go off, abate, as a pain. రేపుతప్పినది the ford is missed. అడుగులో పిడుగుతిప్పు a great mistake in a short space. ఆయువుతప్పినవాడయినాడు he declined into the vale of years. v. a. To transgress, to miss. తప్పుచేయు, అతిక్రమించు. దినము తప్పుదినము every other day, missing one day in turn. ఒకటితప్పి ఒకటి one now and then; here and there one. తప్పివచ్చినపని a thing that happened unexpectedly, or out of the common way. మాటతప్పు to break one's word or promise. తప్పక tappaka. adv. Unfailingly, steadfastly, steadily, certainly, surely. తప్పచూచు tappa-ṭsūṭsu. v. t. To disregard. దైవము తప్ప చూచినందున as God withdrew his favour. తప్పు or తప్పితము or తప్పిదము. (తప్పు+ఇతము or ఇదము.) n. An error, fault, mistake, offence. తప్పుపలుకు to say what is wrong or false. తప్పులుపట్టు to find fault with, to cavil. adj. Erroneous, mistaken, faulty, wrong. Foul or entangled. తప్పుకూడు unlawful food. తప్పుటడుగులు పెట్టు to stagger or totter as an infant. తప్పుదారి or తప్పుదోవ a wrong road. తప్పించు tappinṭsu. v. a. To extricate, to set free విడిపించు. To take away, remove, lose, shift, alter. తాడు తప్పించుట to get the cord free, to extricate it. నా జీవనము తప్పించినాడు he took away my living. To elude ముఖము తప్పించు to abscond. To cause to cross over, pass by, transgress, depart from (an agreement.) దోవతప్పించినాడు he misled me. తప్పించుకొను tappinṭsu-konu. v. n. To get free, to escape. ప్రాణము తప్పించుకొని వస్తిని I escaped with my life. తప్పుడు or తప్పుదల. tappuḍu. n. Missing, making a mistake తప్పుట. తప్పుడు adj. Wrong తప్పైన. తప్పుడుపడు or తప్పుపడు to make a mistake సరితప్పు.

A goblin, fiend, demon or evil spirit, పిశాచము. దయ్యముకాదు భూతమే it was not a fiend but a ghost. కొరివిదయ్యము a jack o'lantern, a will of the wisp. వానికి దయ్యముపూనిది he is possessed. దయ్యముపూనినవాడు a domoniac. దయ్యముపట్టు to be possessed. అతనికి దయ్యముపట్టినది a devil has seized him. దయ్యమువదలగొట్టు or దయ్యమునుతోలు to drive out a devil, to exercise. దయ్యపు స్తంభనము a spell to scare away fiends. దయ్యాలపోతు dayyāla-pōtu. n. A wizard or a witch.

A deity, God. దైవకృతము caused by chance or fortune. దైవగతి providence, the will or act of God: chance, accident. దైవగతిచేత వర్షము రాలేదు it pleased God to give no rain. దైవజ్ఞ daiva-gnya. n. An accident. దైవికరాజికములచేత by the act either of God, or of the kind. adj. Supernatural, divine, providential. దైవికముగా accidentally, providentially.

(p. 746) pāli or పాలిటి pāli. [Tel. from పాలు a part or share.] adj. Connected with, appertaining to Near. పాలికాపు or పాలివాడు a comrade, a partner, భాగస్థుడు. n. A partner, proprietor or share-holder. A farm-servant. నాపాలిదైవము my tutelary god. వారిపాలి మృత్యువు the death that was doomed them. వారిపాలికేగె he went up to them. తన పాలిభాగ్యదేవత అని లోనికి కొంచుపోయి he looked upon the guest as a God and took him in. Vish. P. iv. 222.

(p. 746) pālu pālu. [Tel.] n. A share or portion. భాగము, వంతు. Possession, charge, వశము. infl. పాలి, or పాలిటి; local ablative పాల or పాలిటి. plu. పాళ్లు. నా వయసు నీపాలుచేసినాను I yielded up my youth to thee. అతని పాలికి వచ్చినది యిది this is what fell to his share. నీపాలిదైవము or నీపాలిటిదైవము your good angel, your tutelary God. వాడు నాపాలిటికి యముడు he has been a curse to me. వేములుపండి కాకులపాలైనవి a proverb regarding the wealth of a prodigal. పరులపాలైన given up to others or sacrificed. దొంగలపాలైన abandoned to thieves. రచ్చలపాలుకావడము to become a prey to ridicule, to become a laughing stock. అప్పుల పాలయినాడు he has fallen into debt. పాలబాన or పాలుబాన pāla-bāna. n. The ryot's share of the crop, ఉభయరాశి అంబారములో కాపునకు చేరే వర్తనధాన్యము. 'కష్టపడి పైరుచేసే సంసారి, ముద్రపిండి, వినాయకునిచాట, గుగ్గిళ్లగంప, పాలుబాన, రాశి అడుగు, ఇవి పుచ్చుకొని,' Miscell. iii. 430. పాలాడు pāl-āḍu. v. a. To divide into shares. To cut, to sever, to separate, ఖండించు. పాలారుచు or పాలార్చు pālā-ruṭsu. (పాలు+అరుచు.) v. a. To disregard, to neglect, ఉపేక్షించు. భాగ. iii. పాలుచేయు pālu-chēyu. v. a. To hand over, give over to, deliver, sacrifice. నన్ను అప్పులపాలుచేసినాడు he plunged me in debt. పాలుపడు or పాల్పడు pālupaḍu. v. n. To undertake, to enter upon, to share, to engage in. పూనుకొను, పైనవేసికొను. To be subject to, స్వాధీనమగు. 'వివిధచేష్టలకుంబాలుపడి.' B. X. §. 30. పాలుపుచ్చు or పాలుపెట్టు pālu-puṭsṭsu. v. a. To deduct or subtract: to divide or separate, విభాగించు. To decide or settle, నిర్ణయించు. వేదనపాలుకాలేను I cannot endure being a prey to grief. పాలుగలవాడు a co-heir, a cousin, దాయాదివాడు. 'పాలుగలవాడు మన కొకజాలియిడక, తానతారసానకు వచ్చెన్.' A. iii. 39. పాలుపోవు pālu-pōvu. v. n. To be divided or shared. విభక్తమగు. To be decided, నిర్ణీతమగు. ఒకరిని పాలుబోక ఆ పనిని అట్టె పడవేసిపెట్టినారు no one undertook the work, so it was left undone. అది యెటు వ్రాయడానకు పాలుపోక విడిచినాను unable to decide how to write the passage. I omitted it. పాలుభోగగ్రామము pālu-bhōga-grā-mamu. n. A village wherein each field is held as one man's separate property.

(p. 1047) mōmu mōmu. [From Skt. ముఖము; and another form of మొగము.] n. The face, or countenance. 'మోమరసేయువాడు మరముక్కిని గాంచునె యెన్ని భంగులన్.' Vēma. 1465. వాని మోము చిన్నపోయినది he was abashed, his countenance fell. See ముగము. మోమోడు mōm-ōḍu. (మోము + ఓడు.) v. n. To yield, fall into temptation: to comply wrongly, దాక్షిణ్యపడు. 'ఏచందంబునంచల్పి పొమ్మను మోమోడక యంచనున్ బతిని బాయన్ జసితే దైవమా.' URK. vi. 384. మోమోట or మోమోటము Same as మొగమోటము. See under మొగము.

(p. 1182) vibhu vibbhu. [Skt.] adj. Omnipresent, all pervading, eternal. నిత్యము, సర్వగతము. విభుడు or విభువు vibbhuḍu. n. Lord, master, ruler. స్వామి, ప్రభువు. దైవమే విభువు God is lord alone, God is above all.

(p. 1190) vivāhamu vi-vāhamu. [Skt.] n. A marriage, wedding, పెండ్లి. పరిణమము. Eight kinds of marriages are distinguished as బ్రాహ్మము, దైవము, ఆర్షము, ప్రాజాపత్యము, ఆసురము, గాంధర్వము, రాక్షసము, and పైశాచము. వివాహమగు or వివాహముచేసికొను vi-vāham-agu. v. n. To wed, marry. పెండ్లాడు.
