(p. 25) agu agu. [Tel.] (commongly written అవు), v. To be, to become, to prove to be. The present p|| is అగుచు, or అవుచు as అగుచున్నాడు or అవుచున్నాడు he is becoming. మిక్కిలి సిరి అగును much fortune will result. The past p|| is అయి as దొంగ అయి turned a rogue, become a thief. The root in A of అగు is కా as అట్లా కారాదు it cannot happen so. Aorist p|| అగు, అగునట్టి, అయ్యే, అయ్యెడి as క్రూరుడగు cruel. శాలివాహనశక వర్షంబులు 1466 అగునట్టి క్రోధి సంవత్సర కార్తీకశుద్ధ 5 శనివారము Saturday the 5th of the bright fortnight of the month Kārtika in the year Krodhi 'which is' the year 1466 (of the Salivahana æra.) ఇది దొంగతనము అయ్యేపనిగనుక as this is a matter in which a man might prove a rogue. Past Rel. p|| అయిన as నాది అయిన గుర్రము a horse of mine. The imperatives are కమ్ము plu. కండి. Causal forms కాజేయు or కావించు. Negative aorist కాదు, &c. అగుర = అగను+ర = అవును. It is so. 1. To be, to become, as కాకి కోకిలయగునె can a crow become a cuckoo? వాడు ఏమయినాడు what has become of him? దొంగ అయినాడు he proved to be a thief. వాడు నేరస్థుడైనాడు he was found guilty. ఆ పని అవును కాకపోవును that undertaking may or may not be accomplished. వానికి ఆకలి అవుతున్నది he is hungry. ఇట్లు రాత్రియగుట as it was now night. బాలుడగుట as he is but a child. 2. To be made, to be finished, to be spent or expended, to elapse, as పని శీఘ్రముగా కావలెను the work must be done soon. వివాహమగుము marry her. ఆ పెండ్లి అయినది the marriage took place. భోజనమయినది dinner is over. రాజదర్పనమయినది I got a sight of the king. అయినదాన్ని చూపు shew what has been done. ఆ పని అయినది the work is over, it is done. కావచ్చినది it is nearly done. రూకలు అయిపోయినది the money is expended. సంవత్సరము అయినది a year has passed. నెల అవుతున్నది it is about a month since. అర్థమయినదా do you understand it? సాకు భావముకాతేదు I do not understand it. భావముయనది I understand it. స్నానము కావించు to bathe, or to cause to bathe. తీర్పుకాలేదు no decision has been given. మ్రుచ్చిలితెచ్చుట మగతనం బగునె is it a manly thing to steal? 3. To be proper or fit, to be agreeable, as ఇచ్చట నుండనగునే మనకు is it fit for us to remain here? కాని పని an improper or unbecoming act. అట్లా చేయనవునా is it right to do so? పగలు కాచినపాలు ఆ రాత్రికి అవును milk boiled the same day is fit for use that night. అతనికీ నాకు కానందున as we are not on good terms. అయినవాండ్లున్ను కానివాండ్లున్ను friends and enemies. 4. To grow, as ఈ తోటలో ఏమి అవుతవి what is grown in this garden? ఇక్కడ వరి కఅదు rice does not grow here. 5. (Governing a dative) To stand in relation, as వాడు నీకేమవుతాడు how is he related to you? నాకు కావలసినవారు my relations. వానికి మేము ఏమీకాము we are in no way related to him. 6. Added to some nouns it gives them a verbal significance, as వారు ఎప్పుడు ప్రయాణమవుతారు when will they start or set out? విభాగాలు అయి వేరింటి కాపురము చేస్తున్నారు they seperated and live apart.

(p. 132) inta inta. [Tel. ఇ+అంత] adj. This much, so large as this. ఇంతమట్టుకు thus far; as yet. ఇంతకు and beside all this. ఇంతలో meanwhile. ఇంతకుమున్ను, ఇంతకుపూర్వము heretofore. ఇక యింత this much more. ఇంతదాక all this while, thus far. ఇంత చెడ్డ so bad. ఇంతపొడుగు so long. ఇంతలు కన్నులు eyes so large. ఇంతలేసి పనులు such great works. నాలుగింతలు four times as much. ఇంతా అంతా కాదు it is vastly great, lit. it is not so much nor so much. వాడు పడ్డ ప్రయాసము ఇంతంతకాదు the trouble he is in is beyond telling. ఇంతంత దొంగకాడు he is no common rogue. ఇంతట intaṭa. adv. With this. ఇంతటిలో within this time. ఇంతటి such. ఇంతవట్టు inta-vaṭṭu. All this. ఇది అంతయును. ఇంతమాత్రము. ఇంతియ, or ఇంతె only this much; that's all ఇంతమాత్రమే, ఇంతియెగాని and notwithstanding all. ఇంతేకాకుండా and besides all this.

(p. 154) utta utta. [Tel.] adj. Empty, mere, bare, plain, actual, just, simple; idle, naked, vain, useless, in just, not serious, not in earnest, false. ఉత్తప్పుడు on common occasions, in general. ఉత్తదొంగపని actual theft. ఉత్త గుర్తము a horse without a rider. ఉత్తవారు persons not involved or concerned in a matter. ఇచ్చినప్పుడు ఉంటివా ఉత్తప్పుడు ఉంటివా were you present when he gave it, or at same other time?

(p. 242) kanna or కన్నా kanna. [Tel.] affix. Than. కంటె. దానికన్న యిది నల్లది this is blacker than that. దానికన్న యిది వేరు this is different from that. నీకన్న దొంగలేడు. there is no greater rogue than you.

(p. 317) koṭṭu koṭṭu. [Tel.] v. a. To strike, knock. smite, beat, thrash. To attack (as rats do.) To rob, as highwaymen do. To quash, refute, defeat, dismiss, nonsuit. To strike off (the head) or behead. To cause to beat.

(p. 358) gariḍi or గరిడీ gariḍi. [Tel.] n. Fencing, sword play. సాము. A dancing school, a fencing school. సాముకూటము. గరడీల సాము, or గరిడీవిద్య sword play, gymnastics. A place చోటు. (p. 381) guruvu or గురుడు guruvu. [Skt.] n. A teacher, a preceptor, a master, a superior, a learned man, a father. A title or name of Brihaspati, tutor of the Gods, who was the husband of Tāra. గురువారము. guru-vāramu. n. Thursday. దొంగలగురువు a master thief, a ringleader. గురువు guruvu. n. Greatness గౌరవము, weight భారము. పూర్వజన్మార్జిత భూరికర్మముల గుర్వణగించునా కొడుక రావయ్య, BD. iv. 218. A long syllable, in prosody. Fast running వేగపు పరుగు. adj. Heavy, weighty, great, large, bulky: difficult, arduous. Reverend, venerable. గురుకార్యము a weighty matter. గురువుగా or గుర్వుగా positively or greatly అధికముగా. 'సర్వమాన్యము నీకు గుర్వుగానిత్తు.' BD. iv. 490. గురువుతేరు guruvu-tēru. v. n. To swell,వులుపారు to run very fast వేగపు పరువుగాపారు. To excel అతిశయించు. గురుత్వము gurutvamu. n. Greatness, weight, importance. Esteem. Heaviness, or languor. గురునాథుడు guru-nādhuḍu. n. The name of a certain village god, whose image is usually a mere block of stone, under a tree.

(p. 559) toḍaru toḍaru. [Tel.] v. n. To happen. కలుగు. To undertake, attempt, పూను, యత్నించు. To desire, సక్తమగు. To be agitated, తొట్రుపడు. To follow, అనుసరించు, To oppose, ఎదిరించు.
