(p. 631) naḍucu or నడచు naḍuṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To walk, go, move, proceed. To happen, occur, pass, take place. To behave, conduct oneself, ప్రవర్తించు. To take effect, as an order. To live, continue, last. To descend, as an estate. To beat, as applied to the pulse. To act (as a father, servant, &c.) వారికిందనడిచేభూమి the field they hold or enjoy. నడిచేనెల the current month, వానికిని మాకును నడిచిన జాబులు the letters that passed between us. నడిచినజగడము the dispute that took place. శ్లోకము నడవవద్దా surely the verse ought to flow easily. ఆ ఉత్సవము నడుస్తున్నదా is the feast still kept up? నడుపు or నడపు naḍupu. v. a. Manly or respectable conduct, propriety, decency, honesty. పెద్దమాను pedda-mānu. n. The name of a certain tree called Ailanthus excelsa. (Rox. & E. P.) కట్వంగము, దుండిగపుమాను, పెనుమాను. పెద్దమానుచెక్క or పట్ట the bark of this tree, or, of Ailanthus malabarica, which is used in medicine. పెద్దమ్మ pedd-amma. n. An elder mother, i.e., mother's elder sister or a father's elder brother's wife. పెద్దమ్మ is also the name of జ్యేష్ఠాదేవి a goddess who is the personification of misfortune, and is described as the elder sister of శ్రీ or Fortune. The word is also used to mean a wretched creature, a blockhead. వాణ్ని పెద్దమ్మపట్టుకొన్నది he is out of luck. వాణ్ని పెద్దమ్మ విడిచినది his luck has taken a turn. ఇది బుద్ధిమంతురాలు వాడు వట్టిపెద్దమ్మ she is a sensible woman, but he is a mere blockhead. పెద్దమ్మనేల a wretched bit of land. పెద్దమ్మతనము pedd-amma-tanamu. n. Wretchedness, stupidity. పెద్దయు pedda-yu. adv. Very, exceedingly, much. మిక్కిలి. పెద్దరికము peddarikamu. n. (p. 1219) vēṭu or వ్రేటు vēṭu. [Tel. from వేయు.] n. A blow, a stroke. A shot, the discharge of a gun or cannon, దెబ్బ, తాకు, తుపాకి మొదలైనవాటిని ఒకతేప కాల్చడము. 'నీతిగాని మాటరాతివేటు.' Vēma. 259. వేటుపాటు నడిపించిరి they began to fire. వేటుపాటు fighting, coming to blows. వేటులాడు or వేట్లాడు vēṭu-l-āḍu. v. n. To fight, to deal blows. కొట్లాడు. 'పువ్వు బంతులవేట్లాడి.' (p. 1220) vēḍamu or వేడెము vēḍamu. [from Skt. వేష్టనము.] n. Riding or running round in a ring, మండలగతి, చక్రాకృతిగా తిరగడము. 'కేడెంబును గొని, వేడెంబున దురగంబు పరపి తెరపిగని.' టీ చుట్టుపరుగుతోడ గుర్రాన్ని నడిపించి. వేడించు vēḍinṭsu. v. n. To go round, చుట్టివచ్చు.

(p. 1285) saṃsāramu sam-sāramu. [Skt.] n. The world, the mundane state. Domestic life, secular life. A family, household. పెండ్లాము బిడ్డలతో కూడియుండడము. (p. 1347) sūtramu sūtramu. [Skt.] n. A thread, cord, line, yarn, twine. తంతి, నూలు, నూలిపోగు, దారము. A brief or precept in grammar, &c., an aphorism. అనేకార్థబోధకసంక్షిస్తవాక్యము. An expedient, contrivance; an artificial piece of work; a machine, ఉపాయము, యంత్రము. కపట a delusive contrivance. నాటకసూత్రధారి. 'the unseen mover of the world's machine,' an epithet of God. జతసూత్రము a water work, a hydraulic engine. వ్యాకరణసూత్రము a concise rule of grammar. ఆపస్తంబసూత్రము the institutes of Apastamba. మీ గోత్రసూత్రములేమి what is your family name? and what is your creed? మంగళసూత్రము the thread with which the marriage badge is tied on the bride's neck. యజ్ఞసూత్రము the sacred thread worn by the three principal classes of the Hindus. 'స్మృతిసూత్రసమాజములకు.' A. i. 43. సూత్రగాడు sūtra-gādu. n. An artist, a contriver or maker of any machine. యంత్రకాడు. సూత్రధారకుడు, సూత్రధారుడు or సూత్రధారి sūtra-dhārakuḍu. n. The manager or principal actor in a play or drama; the person behind the scenes who pulls the strings of puppets. An instigator, secret agent, or tempter. మేళనాయకుడు, ఆటాడించువాడు, నడిపించువాడు.
