(p. 80) arikaṭṭu arikaṭṭụ. [Tel.] v. a. To check, stop, hinder. అడ్డగించు. 'కొసరునగ నవ్వుకొన గోట కొప్పుదువ్వు నొంటినరికట్టినిలుమంచు నొట్టు బెట్టు.' T. ii. 98.

(p. 87) alati or అలంతి alati. [Tel.] adj. Little, small. స్వల్పమైన, చిన్న, సూక్ష్మమైన, అలతినగవు, అనగా చిరునవ్వు. 'బలుపు చూపినదేమొ యలతినడుము.' N. vii. 18. అలతి or అలంతి n. A trifle, a small thing అల్పము, స్వల్పము. 'అలతులబోవు తప్పె, యిదియైనను.' TUR. vi. 20. అలతులు or అలంతులు n. plu. Low wretches, mean men.. అల్పులు. 'అలుతులైన వారికంటె నతిపెద్దలకును జాలపెద్దయగుదయాళు గొలుతున్.' M. XII. ii. 26.

(p. 95) avaśa a-vaṣa. [Skt.] n. She who is out of her senses. స్మారకము లేనిది. 'అవశచందాన బైవాలునవ్వధూటి.' Swa. vi. 41. అవశము a-vaṣamu. [Skt.] adj. Unsubjected, unrestrained, independent. అస్వాధీనమైన. 'మేనవశంబగుట యుత్యజించెనసల.' P. i. 137. అవశముగా not in one's power.

(p. 139) irri irri. [Tel.] n. The male of the Indian antelope, a black. A Bennettii, of Sykes, Elliot. ఇర్రింక. (for ఇర్రిజింక) A male antelope. మగలేడి. ఇర్రింక చూపులు wild glances like those of the antelope. 'ఈక్షింపగా నేర్చె నిర్రింక చూపుల, మోవిగూర్పగనేర్చె మొలకనవ్వు.' Matid. iii. 248. ఇర్రింకులు irrinkulu. (p. 166) ubbu ubbu. [Tel.] n. Swelling ఉబ్బడము. సంతోషము. Haughtiness. ఉబ్బు v. n. To swell, be puffed up, to be delighted. ఉబ్బిన swollen or proud. నవ్వి కడుపు ఉబ్బినది he burst with laughter. 'ఉబ్బి చెలరేగి వసుదేవుడుత్సహించె.' (B. X.) he was overjoyed. అది నాకు దొరికినదని వానికి కడుపు ఉబ్బుచున్నది he is vexed at my obtaining this. కడుపుబ్బు suppression of urine, envy, spite, ఉబ్బున haughtily, fiercly. ఉబ్బించు ubbinṭsu. v. t. To inflate, to puff up with joy, to flatter. ఉబ్బు రోగము ubbu-rōgamu. n. Dropsy.

(p. 214) olayu olayu. [Tel.] v. n. To appear, seem, or come to light, enter ప్రవేశించు, To take place, to be or happen కలుగు. To spread వ్యాపించు, పొలయు, పొందు, ఒప్పు. చిరునవ్వులొలయన్ a smile appeared on her lips. పెంపొలయక no increase took place. ఒలయు v. a. To surround, to envelop, to meet చుట్టుకొను, కదియు.

(p. 255) kalakalamu kalakalamu [Skt.] n. Buzz, a confused sound. కలకల kalakala. adv. Aloud. కలకలనవ్వుట to laugh heartily. పక్షుల కలకలధ్వని the loud notes of birds.

(p. 257) kalahamu kalahamu. [Skt.] n. A fight., contention, dispute. జగడము, యుద్ధము. కలహాంతరిత kalah-āntarita. n. A wife who has been vexed and is appeased పతిని విడనాడు తరువాత పశ్చాత్తాపసమనవ్వితయైన నాయిక. కలహాశనుడు kalah-āṣanuḍu. n. A quarrelsome being, a makebate; an eithet of Nārada. కలహించు kalahinṭsu. v. n. To fight, dispute. జగడమాడు.

(p. 262) kavakava kava-kava. [Tel.] adv. A loud. కవకవ నవ్వి laughing aloud. 'చెవియొగ్గిననుకవకవలు గొణుగు.': Dasav. v, 256.

(p. 309) kēkisalu or కేకసలు kēkisalu. [Tel.] n. Clapping of hands. చప్పట్లలు. Sounds of merriment, prattle, riot at play. కేకిసలు కొట్టు to shout. 'కేకిసలుకొట్టుచు బోటులు దానినవ్వగన్. Parij. iii. 13.

(p. 310) kēraḍamu kēraḍamu. [Tel.] n. Indifference. ఉపేక్ష. Derision తిరస్కారము, ఎత్తిపొడుపుమాట, తిరస్కారపుమాట, వంకరమాట. 'కిలకిల నవ్వుచు కేరడమాడి.' Abhim. 216. కేరడించు kēraḍinṭsu. v. t. To deride. పరిహాసము చేయు.

(p. 370) gīru gīru. [Tel.] v. a. To tear, scratch, scrape, comb or smooth the hair with the fingers. 'వానినగించి నవ్వుచున్ కూరిమిమీరగీరు, కొనగోట చిటుక్కున నోవక్కుసాక్కగన్.' T. ii. 95. గీరుడు gīruḍu. n. Scratching. గోకుడు. గీరుకొను gīru-konu. Same as గీరు.

(p. 372) gukka or గ్రుక్క gukka. [Tel.] n. The act of drawing in the breath, a gulp, a mouthful. గుక్క తిరుగకుండా నవ్వెను he was in fits of laughter. గుక్కనిలుపు or గుక్క పట్టు to restrain the breath. గుక్కెడు gukkeḍu. n. A mouthful. గుక్కిలి or గ్రుక్కిలి gukkili. [Tel.] The apple of the throat, a gulp; గుక్కిళ్లు మింగినాడు he swallowed his saliva, i.e., restrained himself, hesitated.

(p. 377) gubaguba or గుభగుభ gubaguba. [Tel.] n. Hubbub. గుబగుబలు లేనికూటమి meeting without tumult. అక్కడ ఏమి గుబగుబలు what is the uproar? వారేమో గుబగుబలాడుచున్నారు there is some stir among them. adv. Tumultuously: with indistinct accents. పిల్లకాయలు గుబగుబపరుగెత్తిరి the boys ran along noisily. 'గుబగుబమని పల్కు కోకిలపల్కులు, విని యివి నేర్తువా యనుచు నవ్వు.' T. ii. 97. సముద్రము గుబగుబలాడుచున్నది the sea roars aloud. ఊరంతా గుబగుబలాడు తున్నది all the village is up, in a stir, or in a ferment. గుబాటున gubāṭuna. adv. All at once, in a moment.బాటు౛డివానలు sudden showers. గుబాదెబ gubā-deba. adv. Bang! slapdash. 'గుబాదెబ వీధుల వెంటజంటలై' H. v. 191. వాణ్ని గుబాదెబగుద్దినారు they beat him thoroughly. గుబాలు or గుబేలు gubālu. n. A bang! a loud sound. గుబాలను to bang, to make a noise. గుబాలున or గుభాలున all at once. Bang! crashingly. నీళ్లలో బాలునదుమికినాడు he leapt slapdash into the water. గుబాలుమన్న ధ్వనివింటిని I heard an explosion or a bang. గుబాళించు gubā-ḷ-inṭsu. v. n. To be emitted or burst forth, as scent. 'కమ్మతావిగుబాళించు తమ్మికొలను' a pond perfumed with lilies. Vijaya. i. 162.
