(p. 7) añcana or అంచనా anṭsana. [Tel.] n. An estimate, valuation, an appraisement. తుకము; చేసుకోయకమునుపు పంట ఆకళింపుచేయడము. అంచనాచూచు or వేయు to estimate crops, &c. అంచనాదారుడు an appraiser, an officer who estimates the quantity of corn in a field, or of the salt in a heap. నిలువు అంచనా, an estimate of the produce of a field before it is cut. కుప్ప అంచనా an estimate of the produce of a field after it is cut and heaped. అంచనా౛ాబితా an account of the estimated quantity of each ryot's produce.

A slight or superficial wound, a slight graze or wound. స్వల్పగాయము. అసిధారావ్రతము asī-dhāra-vratamu a vow to stand on the edge of a sword; (figuratively) being engaged in any hopelessly difficult task. అసిధేను or అసిధేనుక or అసిపుత్రి asidhēnu. n. (p. 221) aunu or అవును or అగును [Tel from అగు to be or become.] v. It may be, it probably is, yes; very well, well done! So be it! ఇది నీకు అవునా will this agree with you? మీరు అట్లా చెప్పనవునే is it proper for you to say so? అది నాచేత నవును I can do it. అవునా కాదా yes or no? అవునవును yes, yes; అది అవునా is it right? అవును కాదనక చేసి he did it without saying a word.

(p. 403) candanamu chandanamu. [Skt.] n. Sandal: Sirium myrtifolium. చందనగంధి chandana-gandhi. n. A sweet maid, a blooming girl. చందనాచలము chandan-āchalamu.. n. The Malaya mountains in the south west of the Indian peninsula, where sandal is produced.

(p. 447) cāya ṭsāya. [from Skt. చాయ.] n. A shadow or shade. నీడ. A colour, a hue, a paint, రంగు, కాంతి. A view, a light, a side or quarter వైపు. Prospect, probability. పోలిక. Trace ౛ాడ. Nearness సమీపము. HN. i. 73, and v. 52. కొయ్యచాయ the grain of wood. In wood, నిలువుచాయ the straight grain, అడ్డచాయ cross grain. చాయపప్పు bleached pulse. చాయపసుపు fine turmeric. చాయపట్ి lit. the son of ఛాయా the wife of the sun, i.e., Saturn శని. చాయమగడు lit. the husband of shadows. i.e., the Sun. చాయపారు to resemble పోలు. చాయవేయు ṭsāya-vēyu. v. t. To dye or colour, to paint.

(p. 416) cinnavāḍu chinna-nadu. n. Boyhood బాల్యకాలము, బాల్యము, చిన్నపుచ్చు chinna-puṭsṭsu. v. t. To disgrace, slight, contemn, treat lightly. చిన్నపోవు chinna-pōvu. v. n. To be disgraced, downcast, low-spirited. చిన్నవాడు chinna-vāḍu. n. A boy, a young man. పెద్ద చిన్నవాడు the eldest boy, నాకన్న చిన్నవాడు one younger than me నాచిన్నవాడు పెద్దవాడు అయ్యేదాక until my son grows up. చిన్నవాండ్లు children, offspring.

(p. 420) cilaka or చిలుక chilaka. n. [Tel.] n. A parrot. ముద్దులచిలక my darling! my pet! చిలకపలుకులు Sweet accents. తెల్లచిలక a cockatoo. పంచరంగుచిలక the maccaw. మైనాచిలక the maina. పుట్టలచిలక or అడివిచిలక the Sirkeer Cuckoo. Jerdon. No. 230. రామచిలక. The Rose-ringed Paroquet, Palaeornis torquatus (so called because taught to reiterate the name of Rāma.) అకుచిలక the Western Blossom-headed Paroquet, Palacornis cyanōecphalus. The name is given to some insects, as a moth, thus, ఆకుచిలక, వడ్లచిలక a moth. గడ్డిచిలక, సీతాకోకచిలక a butterfly. A padlock. The bolt or hasp of a door, because these originally had parrot's heads on them. చిలుకల కొలికి a bright-eyed girl or woman. చక్కని స్త్రీ. చిలకకూర or చిలకతోటకూర chilaka-kūra. n. A kind of pot-herb, Amarantus fasciatus. (Watts.) చిలక, చిలకట or చిలుకడ chilaka. n. A saddle buckle: a ring at the end of the rope used as a girth of the bullock saddle through which the other end is passed to fasten the saddle. కొలికిముడి. చిలకడతాడు chilakada-tāḍu. n. A girth. ఎద్దుమీదికందళము, గంతబిగించేతాడు. చిలకకొయ్య or చిలుకకొయ్య chilaka-koyya. n. A wooden pin fixed in the wall, on which articles are suspended. చిలగడ chilagaḍa. (చిలుక+గడ.) n. The cord that fastens a dagger, to prevent its falling out of the sheath. చిలకతాళము chilaka-tāḷamu. n. A padlock. చిలకతాళి or చిలుకతాళి chilaka-tāḷi. n. A gold buckle in the form of a pair of parrots. చిలుకదుదుడి chilaka-duduḍi. n. The name of a certain tree. చిలకపచ్చ chilaka-paṭsṭsa. n. Bright green, parrot green. చిలకమొక్క or చిలకముక్కు chilaka-mokka. n. (lit. Parrot's bill.) A plant called crotolaria. శుకాననము, శుకనాస. Heyne, 130. The purple red and white scentless flower called Balsam. చిలకరౌతు chilaka-rautu. n. Lit: He whose steed is the parrot: an epithet of మన్మథ the god of love. చిలుక కోణము chiluka-kōṃamu. n. A 'T bandage,' or clout.

(p. 433) cēta chēta. [Tel. from చేయు or చెయ్యి.] (Locative) In the hand. నాచేత అయ్యేపని చేస్తాను I will do what I can. ఆ పని నీచేత అవునా can you do that work? వారి చేత పుచ్చుకొంటిని I received it from them or at their hands. n. Doing, చేయుట, An act, action. పని. చేతకాని uncanny, useless, unprofitable, awkward, vile. చేతకాడు an able man క్రియావంతుడు. (As an affix.) By, through, by means of, with. నిజహస్తంబుచేత.' (p. 535) tīru tīru. [Tel.] v. n. To end, stop, cease, elapse. To be finished, ended, complete, or ready. To be paid, delivered, discharged, avenged. To be qualified, accomplished, finished, adorned, trim, decked. To be gratified, satiated, wreaked (as passion;) to be assuaged or allayed, to go off. ముగియు, చిక్కబడు. తనివితీర to the full; so as to satisfy one's desires. తీరలేదు it came to nothing, it was ineffectual. కోరికతీసి having gained his end. ఇది నాచేత తీరదు this is out of my power. నాకు తీరీతీరక ఉన్నది I am hardly at leisure. తీరిపోవు to die. To be practicable, or possible. అక్కడికి రాతీరదు I cannot come there, I have not leisure to come. రాకుంటే తీరదు (you) must positively come. వెళ్లక తీరదు I cannot help going. తీరినగుండెగా నున్నాడు he is quite hackneyed. తీరా tirā. (Root in A of తీరు, with the intensive affix ఆ) adv. Ultimately, at last; fairly; just, merely, in short, simply. తీరా మధ్యాహ్నమయ్యేటప్పటికి when it was high noon. ఆ గోడ తీటా పడ్డది the wall actually fell down. తూరా పండుకొనేటప్పటికి when he was fairly asleep. ఆ సంగతి తీరా బయటపడేటప్పటికి when the matter at last became known. తీరా చెల్లించెను he paid it in full. తీరిక or తీరికె tīrika. n. Leisure. పనిలేక యూరకుండుట. తీరికచిక్కిన having no leisure. Adorning, trimming, decoration. దిద్దడము. తీరిన tīrina adj. Full. finished, accomplished, cured, settled. తీరు. n. (p. 547) teṭṭe , తెట్టియ or తెట్టువ teṭṭe. [Tel.] n. A bee hive, a bees nest. తేనె పెర. A nest of the red tree-ants. తేనెపెర. A nest of the red tree-ants. మీగడతెట్టె cream, the skin of boiled milk సంతానిక, కాగిన పాలమీదకట్టినతెట్టె. నాచుతెట్టె a mass of scum and weeds on water, పాచి, తెట్టెలు కట్టు or తెట్టెలుకొను teṭṭelu-kaṭṭu. v. n. To be heaped. రాశిపడు.

(p. 625) naṅga or నంగనాచి nanga [Tel.] n. A weevil, or canker worm, a book worm, a round white worm, (also called వడ్లచిలుక and ముడికొక్కు.) which looks harmless but is destructive. Hence, a demure minx, a sly jade, a specious hypocrite. Sometimes used for a mosquito or gnat because it looks harmless దిట్టతనము కలిగియు బయటికి ఏమియు తెలియని దానివలె నుండునది. Swa. iii. 43. నంగనాచితనము nanga-nāchi-tanamu. n. Feigned simplicity. నంగిమాట nangi-māḷa. n. A nasal sound: a word pronounced through the nose. ముక్కుతో మాట్లాడినమాట. A snuffle, or twang. నంగు nangu. v. n. To speak through the nose: to speak with through the nose: to speak with a twang or snuffle. ముక్కుతో మాట్లాడు.

(p. 641) nācikonu nāchi-konu. [Tel.] v. a. To snatch, usurp, seize. హరించు. 'తనవి లోకసములు నాదుమనము నాచికొనగ నయ్యింతి ననుగనుగొని.' M. Virat. ii. 88.
