(p. 143) īga īga. [Tel. Tam. ఈ] n. A fly. పోతుటీగ. (from పోతు male and ట inserted) a male fly. చ నృపాలకులు ... నిగ్రహమొప్పగ పోతుటీగయున్ బొలయగనియ్యరంతిపురి.' T. iv. 17. Princes would, if possible, keep out even male flies from their seraglio. ఈగపులి īga-puli. n. A spider: literally a fly-tiger.

(p. 581) damamu or దమనము damamu. [Skt.] n. Austerities, mortification of the flesh, a self-controlled state. ఇంద్రియనిగ్రహము. Fortitude, శ్లేశమునోర్చుతనము. Suppression. అణచుట. దమనుడు or దమి damanuḍu. n. the queller or subduer. అణచువాడు; as కందర్పధమనుడు Siva who destroyed Manmadha. దమితుడు damituḍu. n. One who is subdues. అణపబడినవాడు. దమించు daminṭsu. v. t. To suppress, subdue (as one's passions,) అణగద్రొక్కు.

(p. 585) dāntamu dāntamu. [Skt.] n. Patience endurance, fortitude, self-control, moderation. దాంతుడు dāntuḍu. n. One who is temperate, patient, self-controlled, moderate, or master of himself. అడపబడినవాడు, తపఃక్లేశమునోర్చువాడు. దాంతి dānti. n. Self command, repression of the passions. ఇంద్రియనిగ్రహము. బ్రహ్మదర్యాది తపఃక్లేశమునోర్చుతనము.

(p. 650) nigrahamu nigrahamu. [Skt.] n. Rejection. త్రోపుడు. Aversion, disfavour: blaming; a threat. బెదురుమాట. Imprisonment, చెర. A limit, మేర. (p. 1143) vaśamu vaṣamu. [Skt.] n. Possession, custody, charge. Subjection, submission, లోకువ, స్వాధీనము. Ability, authority, power, supremacy, ప్రభుత్వము, అధీనత్వము. అతని వశములో ఉన్నది it is in his charge or in his hands. 'ధనమువీధిబడినదైవవశంబున నుండు.' సమీరవశంబున carried by the wind, breeze-borne. ఆ యింటిని తమవశము చేసికొన్నాడు he took charge or possession of the house. నన్ను వశపరచుకొనలేకపోయినాడు he was unable to get me into his hands. అది నాకు వశము, లేక. అది నా వశాననున్నదా is it in my power to do so? కాలవశముచేత in the course of time, by the lapse of time. నాకు ఆకలి వశముకాకుండా ఉన్నది I cannot curb my appetite, I am excessively hungry. నా పుణ్యవశమున by my luck. వశ vaṣa. n. A wife, పెండ్లాము. A female elephant, ఆడుఏనుగు A barren cow, గొడ్డుటావు. వశంవదము vaṣam-vadamu. adj. Submissive, obedient. విధేయుడైన. వశంవదుడు vaṣam-vaduḍu. n. One who talks submissively, one who is submissive, విధేయుడు, లోకువయగునట్లు మాటలాడువాడు. వశత్వము vaṣatvamu. n. Obedience, submissiveness. M. XVI. i. 226. కాలవశత్వంబున by the course of time. వశపరచుకొను vasa-paratsu-konu. v. n. To take possession of, to take under one's control. వశాత్ or వశాతుగా vaṣāt. adv. Through, b in consequence of, in subjection to, over-powered by. గ్రహచారవశాత్తుగా through his bad luck. దైవవశాత్ by the finger of God. వశి vaṣi. n. A chaste man; one who has subdued his passions. ఇంద్రియ నిగ్రహముగలవాడు. వశీకరణము vaṣī-karaṇamu. n. The act of over powering, subduing, or inveigling by charms, spells or drugs. మందుమాకుల చేత స్వాధీనముచేసికొనుము, వశ్యముచేసుకొనడము. వశీకరించు vaṣī-karinṭsu. v. a. To subdue or over-power by means of charms, drugs, &c. వశ్యము vaṣyamu. adj. Dependant on, subject to, over-powered by charms, drugs, &c. స్వాధీనమైన, లోకువైన. వశ్యుడు vaṣyuḍu. n. A dependant, one who is submissive, obedient, or subject to, విధేయుడు, వశ్యురాలు vaṣyu-r-ālu. n. She who is submissive. విధేయురాలు. వశ్యౌషథము vaṣy-aushadhamu. n. Any medicine made use of to subject another to one's own will. A love-powder.

(p. 1349) sūryuḍu sūryuḍu. [Skt.] n. The sum. భాస్కరుడు. సూర్యకాంతము sūrya-kāntamu. n. The sun-gem tourmaline, అదిత్యశిల, సూర్యరశ్మితగులుటచేట నిప్పుకలిగెడు ఒక విధమైన రాయి. A well known medicinal herb. సూర్యకాంతిపుష్పము or సూర్యావర్తము sūrya-kānti-pushpamu. n. The sun-flower. Helianthus annuuṣ. పొద్దుతిరుగుడుపువ్వు. సూర్యపటము Same as సూరపటము. (q. v.) సూర్యపాను sūrya-pānu. n. A triangular perpendicular paraso or fan, resembling a fire screen. See సురేపాను. సూర్యపుటము sūrya-puṭamu. n. Exposure to the sun. ఎండబెట్టడము. సూర్యపుటముపెట్టు to inspissate fluid medicines or extracts by exposure to the sun. సూర్యపుత్రుడు sūrya-putruḍu. n. The son of Hellus: an epithet of Ṣani, of Yama and the Varuna. శనిగ్రహము, యముడు, వరుణుడు. సుర్యప్రభ sūrya-prabha. n. The disc or orb of the sun; also a vehicle or seat with a gift aureole, సూర్యబింబము, ఒక దేవత వేంచేయు సూర్యాకారమైన వాహనము. సూర్యవాద్యము sūrya-vādyamu. n. A tambourine or small double tabor. పాగామీద కట్టుకొనివాయించే సూర్యాకారమైన చర్మవాద్యము.
