(p. 297) kuriyu kuriyu. [Tel.] v. n. To rain, to fall, as dew. వానకురియుచున్నది it is raining. కురియు or కురిపించు or కురియించు kurip-inṭsu. v. a. To shower, to cause to rain. వర్షించు. పువ్వులవానకురిపించిరి they showered down flowers. నిప్పులు కురిపించు to rain coals, i.e., be wroth.

Also (metaphorically,) of a smile spreading over the face. కూటిలో మన్నుచల్లడము to throw earth in one's food, i.e., to take away one's bread, to ruin one. ఇంటిమీద నిప్పులుచల్లిరి they scattered fire on the house. మొక్కచల్లు to transplant corn. తోటకు నీళ్లు చల్లినారు they pumped water into the garden. ధూళిచల్లి sprinkling dust. చల్లుపోరాడు or చల్లులాడు tsallu-pōrāḍu. v. n. To fling water or dust at each other. R. I. 211. 186.

(p. 563) tōka tōka. [Tel.] n. A tail. తోకత్రొక్కిన పామువలె like a snake whose tail has been trodden on. తోకగుం౛ a slanting post or pillar అదోకగా నేర్పరచిన స్తంభము. తోకకష్ప tōka-kappa. n. A tadpole. తోకచిచ్చు a trail of fire. నిప్పులు తగిలించిన పిడకలవరుస. తోకచుక్క tōka-ṭsukka. n. A comet: a star with a tail. ధూమకేతువు. తోకతలవరి tōka-talavari. n. A long slender fish called Ophidion (Russell. No. 39.) తోకపీకుళ్లు tōka-pīkuḷḷu. n. (p. 602) dummu dummu. [Tel.] n. Dust. దుమారము, దూళి. దంబోవడి. (దుమ్ము+పొడి.) Currystuff, మెంతి జిలకర్రచేర్చి చేసిన నున్నని కూరపిండి. A bone, ఎముక. వానినోట్లో దుమ్ముకొట్టిరి they ruined him. దుమ్ములగొండి the bone-eater, i.e., the striped Hyaena, Hyaena striata. కొరనాసిగండు, గాడిదపులి. (F.B.I.) దుముదుము thick dust, దుమ్ముదుమ్ము. దుముదుములాడు dumu-dumu-l-āḍu. v. n. To raise dust or fire. దుమ్మురేగు, నిప్పులురేగు. To be gloomy, దుమదుమలాడు. దుమ్మాడు dummāḍu. v. n. To wear or use powder. 'గందవొడితోన దుమ్మాడిమందగతుల.' Ila. i. 149.

(p. 811) poraṭu or పొరంటు poraṭu. [Tel.] v. a. To fry, grill, toast. పొగచు. 'చ గురుగుంజెంచలితుమ్మి లేతగిరిసాకుందింత్రినీపల్లవో, త్కరముంగూడబొరంటి నూనియలతో గట్టావి కుట్టారి కోగిరముల్మేసి.' A. iv. 173. 'అప్పట నుండి యంతరంగంబు నిప్పులంబొరంటి నట్లయ్యెడు.' M XII. i. 11.

(p. 1076) rālu rālu. [Tel.] v. n. To fall off or down, to drop, to run or flow off, as tears, &c. పతనమగు, పడు. ఆకులు రాలును leaves fall. వానికండ్లలో నిప్పులు రాలినవి fire flashed from his eyes. ఈ కరువులో జనము ఎండాకులు రాలినట్టు రాలిపోయినది in this famine the people dropped down like withered leaves. 'చాలదోయిటనెత్తి చల్లిననిసుక రాలనియట్టి యరణ్యాంతరమున.' BD. v. 854. రాలుగాయ rālu-gāya. n. A wicked or mischievous boy. తుంటపిల్లకాయ. రాలు గాయతనము rālu-gāya-tanamu. n. Wickedness, mischief. తుంటతనము. 'తే వాడు నానాటికభివృద్ధి వరలబెరిగి, కాకలను దీరిగడిమీరి గట్టిపారి, రాలుగాయతనానబేరజపుదారి, నారితే రెనెరాగంట్ల మారిమయ్యె.' H. v. 126. రాలుచు, రాల్చు, రాలగొట్టు, రాలిపివేయు or రాల్పివేయు rāluṭsu. v. a. To knock off, beat down, shed, రాలజేయు. అది కండ్ల నీళ్లు రాల్చినది she shed tears. రాలుపు rālupu. n. Falling off, dropping, as leaves, రాలుట.

(p. 1124) vaḍa vaḍa. [Tel.] n. Heat, వేడిమి, ఎండసెగ. తాపము. Trouble, pain, labour, శ్రమము. A sort of cake, గారె. A kind of hot cake. adj. Hot, వేడి. వడకొట్టి చచ్చిపోయినాడు or వడతగిలి చచ్చిపోయినాడు he died of sunstroke. 'నిప్పులవసంతములాడు నెండలవడజల్లుపడమటి వాయువులును.' P. i. 304. వడగల్లు vaḍa-gallu. n. A hailstone. 'రాలెనొయ్యనవడగండ్లు పాలపండ్లు.' A. iv. 118. పడగవ్వ vaḍa-gavva. n. The name of a certain fish, a species of Scomber. Russell, plate 139. వడగాలి or వడగాడ్పు vaḍi-gāli. n. The hot or land wind. నిప్పుగాలి. వడగొను vaḍa-gonu. v. n. To feel hot, తాపమునుపొందు. వడపప్పు vaḍa-pappu. n. A dish of green gram, split and soaked in water, with salt, pepper, assafœtida, &c. బడలికతీరుటకు నానవేసి కొంచెము ఉప్పు ఉంగువకలిపిన పెసరపప్పు. వడపిందె vaḍa-pinde.- n. A tender fruit that falls down from a tree through the heat of the weather. వడముడి vaḍa-muḍi. n. One who makes it hot for his enemies, శత్రువులకు తాపమును గలుగజేయువాడు. A Telugu name of Bhīma, one of the heroes of the Pāndu race. భీముడు. 'క కడువడి ౛నియంతంతంబుడమిబడినకరులగములు పొరలుట కతనన్ వడముడియడచినతెరువేర్పడగని వేవేగతేరు పరపెం గదియున్.' M. VI. ii. 375.

(p. 1215) veli veli. [Tel.] n. Whiteness, తెలుపు. The outside or exterior, బయట, బాహ్యము. The external surface of the body, దేహముయొక్క బహిఃప్రదేశము. Publicity, బయలుపాటు. Excommunication, or exclusion from caste, బహిష్కారము. మాలో వెలి అనేమాటలేదు excommunication is unknown in our caste. 'వెలికిగోర్కు లెల్లవిడిచిపెట్టి.' Vēma. 791. adj. White, తెల్లని. Outer, outside, external. బైటి, బాహ్యమైన. వెలిగుడారు a tent pitched outside the town. వెలిపొలములు the outlying fields of a village. వెలికొత్తు to drive out. వెలికత్తెరనేల veli-kattera-nēla. a. The white elephant of Indra, ఐరావితము. వలిచంట్ర The white species of the tree called చండ్ర వెలిచవి veli-ṭsavi. n. Adultery. జారత్వము. వెలితిప్ప veli-tippa. n. The silver mountain, Kailasa. వెండి కొండ, కైలాసము. వెలితుమ్మ the white species of the తుమ్మచెట్టు. వెలిదుక్కి veli-dukki. n. Ploughing land while it is moist with rain. నీళ్లుకట్టకుండావానతడితో దున్నడము. (Opposed to రొంపిదుక్కి.) వెలిపము Same as వలిపము. (q. v.) వెలిపుచ్చు or వెలిపరచు veli-putstsu v. a. (Indra's) white horse, (ఇంద్రుని) తెల్లగుర్రము, ఉచ్చైశ్శ్రవము. వెలిమావులు white mares. 'విమలాంబుదముల బూనిన విమానములనదగవెలసి వెలిమావులు.' M. VII. i. 228. 'వేరొక్క వెలిమావువేల్పుదొరకు.' R. i. 46. వెలిమిడి or వెల్మిడి veli-miḍi. (వెలి+మిడుగు.) n. The ashes of cow-dung fuel, ashes, పిడకనిప్పులబూడిద, భస్మము. 'తెలుపులన్నియు మేలుదెలియంగనిసుక వెలిమిడియెముకలు వెసనుప్పుపత్తి.'
