(p. 5) aṅgamu angamu. [Skt.] n. The body, a limb, member, part, division or branch. అంగవంచకము = ఉపాయము, సహాయము, దేశకాలవిభజనము, ఆపదకు ప్రతిక్రియ, కార్యసిద్ధి. అద్భుతాంగులు beings having wondrous forms. అష్టాంగములు = the eight forms or stages of meditation, i. e, యమము, నియమము, ప్రాణాయామము, ప్రత్యాహారము, ధ్యానము, ధారణ, మననము, సమాధి. చతురంగములు the four divisions of an army, i. e., రథములు, ఏనుగులు, గుర్రములు, బంటులు. పంచాంగము the Indian calendar giving particulars of each day, as తిథి, వారము, నక్షత్రము, యోగము, కరణము. రాజ్యాంగములు the various departments of Government. షడంగములు or వేదాంగములు the six sciences dependent on the Vedas. i. e., శిక్ష, కల్పము, వ్యాకరణము, నిరుక్తము, జ్యోతిషము, ఛందస్సు. సప్తాంగములు = the seven constituents of a Government. స్వామి, అమాత్యుడు, సుహృత్తు, కోశము, రాష్ట్రము, దుర్గము, బలము. సాష్టాంగ ప్రణామము prostrate homage, touching the ground with eight members of the body, i. e., eyes or chest and forehead, hands, knees and feet.

(p. 13) antyamu antyamu. [Skt.] adj. Final, last, ultimate, concluding. కడపటి. అంత్యనియమము rhyme, the last syllables corresponding. అంత్యదశ the last con dition, i. e., death. అంత్యధనము the last member of an arithmetical series. అంత్యమూలము in arith: the last or greatest root in the square. అంత్యకాలము last time, the time of one's end. అంత్యకులుడు or అంత్యజుడు n. A pariah. మాలవాడు.

(p. 201) ērpaḍu ērpaḍu. [Tel.] v. n. To fix, settle, to assume a shape. To be settled or determined. To seem, appear, come to light, to look. To happen. To be declared, to be or become. To be selected, distinguished, separated, arranged, appointed. రూపగు, తేటపడు,బయలుపడు, నిర్ణయింపబడు. కర్తలై యేర్పడినారు they appeared as, or, turned out to be the heirs. ఏర్పరుచు or ఏర్పరించు ērparaṭsu. v. a. (casual of ఏర్పడు) To form, adjust. To choose, select. distinguish. To separate, divide, To set forth, define, declare. To arrange, to settle. ఏర్పడునట్లు చేయు. ఏర్పాటు ēr-pāṭu. n. An arrangement, settlement, rule. Fixing, disposal, decision, management. Selection, choice, agreement. నిర్ణయము, నియమము, వివరణము. ఏర్పాటుచేయు to select, arrange, to effect an arrangement. To project or scheme.

(p. 231) kaṭṭaḍa kaṭṭaḍa. [Tel.] n. Order, rule, custom. నియమము. Arrangement, manner, mode తీరు. కావలికట్టడలు or కట్టళ్లు routine or order of guards, మర్యాద. కట్టడచేయు kaṭṭaḍa-chēyu. v. n. To ordain, command, enact, to lay down a rule. అజ్ఞాపించు.

(p. 597) dīkṣa dīksha. [Skt.] n. A vow. Sacrificing, offering oblations. Worshipping, యజ్ఙాది క్రియారంభమునందు అనుష్ఠింపబూనుకొనే ఆచార నియమము. A marriage vow. వ్రతాదులయందు నియమమును పూనుకొనడము వానిని చంపకవిడువను అని దీక్ష చేసుకొన్నాడు he vowed he would slay them. గర్భదీక్ష a vow whereby the husband remains unshorn pending the wife's pregnancy. వివాహదీక్ష a marriage vow. ఏకదీక్షగా uninterruptedly. దీక్షాగురుడు dīkshā-guruḍu. n. A spiritual adviser, వానికి అతడు దీక్షాగురువు. దీక్షాలయము dīksh-ālayamu. n. A convent, a hermitage, a cell. దీక్షించు dīkshinṭsu. v. n. To make a vow. దీక్ష వహించవు. దీక్షితుడు dīkshi-tuḍu. n. One who is under a vow. దీక్షవహించినవాడు.

(p. 655) niyatamu niyatamu. [Skt.] adj. Self governed, subdued, restrained, నియమము గల, Constant, permanent, certain, నిత్యమైన. నియతముగా niyatamu-gā. adv. Always, constantly. నియతి. niyati. n. Destiny, luck, good or bad fortune, భాగ్యము. A religous duty or obligation, నియమము. నియతేంద్రియుడు niyat-ēndriyuḍu.n. A sage or man of subdued passions.

Commanded, ordered, నియమింపబడిన. నియామకము niyāmakamu. n. Certainity, an arrangement. నియామకుడు niyāma-kuḍu. n. A director, a pilot or steers-man. నియమించేవాడు.

Devotion, spiritual worship, the practice of abstraction and meditation. ధ్యానము. Of these forms of worship there are eight named (a) యమము restraining the passions, (b) నియమము providing a proper place, &c, for worship, (c) stopping the breath in three modes called రేచకము, పూరకము or కుంభకము, (d) ప్రత్యాహారము withdrawal from sense perception, (e) ధ్యానము meditation, (f) ధారణము repression of all physical movements, (g) మననము fixing the mind on the deity, and (h) సమాధి complete immersion in thought so that the thinker is dead to the world. ధ్యానయోగము an act of faith or meditation. మంత్రయోగము a magical operation. యోగపట్టె or యోగపట్టము yōga-paṭṭe. n. A magic girdle worn by ascetics. యోగదృష్టి the second sight, obtained by devotion, superhuman sagacity or perspicacity. యోగాభ్యాసము the keeping the body in a fixed posture for spiritual worship, the practice of abstract contemplation. యోగనిద్ర or జ్ఞాననిద్ర the divine sleep, or supernatural stupor which yōgis or saints strive to attain. యోగమాయ supernatural stupor. యోగవాగలు, యోగవాగములు or యోగవాగాలు yōga-vūgalu. n. Magical boots supposed to be worn by hermits. తలచినచోటికి తీసికొనిపోవు మంత్రిశక్తిగలపాదుకలు. 'యోగవాగలు మెట్టి యొకపాదమూది.' HD. ii. 135. 'యోగపట్టెలవారు నొప్పారు యోగ, వాగెలవారును.' L. xxiii. 31. యోగక్షేమము yōga-kshēmamu. n. Welfare, well-being, good circumstances. యోగి yōgi. n. A devotee, hermit; an ascetic in general, మని, యోగాభ్యాసము చేయువాడు. యోగిని yōgini. n. A woman who practises Yoga, a female mendicant. A nymph or fairy, attendant on Durga the good goddess. తాపసస్త్రీ. క్షుద్రదేవతావిశేషము. యోగురాలు yōgu-r-ālu. n. A female mendicant. జటిని.
