Name of a certain sage. కుంభసంభవుడు. అగస్త్యశాకము the leaves of a leguminous tree which are dressed and eaten, అనిసెచెట్టు; అగస్త్యనక్షత్రము the star Canopus. అగస్త్యచారము the cource of Canopus. అగస్త్యాదయము the rise of Canopus. అగస్త్యభ్రాత (lit: the brother of Agastya.) a new-comer, who tries to make out that he is a great personage.

The plant called Ceylon lead-wort. Plumbago Ẕelanica. చిత్రమూలము. అగ్నివేండపాకు ammannia baccifera or blistering Ammannia (Watts) అగ్ని శిఖ. a flame of fire. Also a plant (Gloriosa superba) తరిగొర్రెచెట్టు, కుంకుమపువ్వు చెట్టు the Saf-flower plant. అగ్నిహోత్రము fire. అగ్నిహోత్రుడు the god of fire. అగ్నిహోత్రాలు కాల్చుచున్నాడు or చేయుచున్నాడు colloquial for 'he is smoking.'

(p. 45) advandvuḍu a-dvandvuḍu. [Skt.] n. A philosopher, i.e., he who despises the pairs of opposites, such as heat and cold, good and evil, pleasure and pain, &c. నిస్సంగుడు. 'అందుండున్ ద్వయసద్మ పద్మవదనుండద్వంద్వుడ శ్రాంతయోగాంధూబద్ధ మధుర్విషద్విరదుడ న్వర్థాభిధానుండు.' A. i. 77.

(p. 77) ayōnija ayōnija. [Skt.] n. She who is of a miraculous birth, not born in the womb. మనిషి కడుపులో పుట్టనిది. అయోనిజుడు or అయోనిసంభవుడు a-yōnijuḍu. n. A man born in a supernatural manner, not born in the womb. మనిషి కడుపున పుట్టనివాడు.

(p. 78) araka , అరకడ, అర్కడ or అరకటము araka. [Tel.] n. The hip. రొండి. నితం బపార్స్వము. అది బిడ్డను అరకటబెట్టుకొని వచ్చినది she came with a child on the hip. (p. 120) āra āra. [Tel.] n. A shoemaker's awl. మాదిగవానిసూది. ఆర adv. (lit. so as to fill) Much; fully. (From ఆరు.) It is often added to a noun; as చెవులార వింటిని I heard it distinctly: కండ్లార చూస్తిని I saw him plainly with my own eyes. కడుపార భోజనము చేసినాను I ate to the full. ఆర āra. [Tel.] A vocative plural suffix as అన్నలార. O brothers!

(p. 198) ēdi ēdi. [Tel. ఏ+అది] pron. Which (fem. and neut. singular.) ఏదయినా any. ఏదికాని not any. ఏదికానిస్రాయము middle age, neither childhood nor youth; ఏదిన్ని లేదు there is nothing.
