(p. 17) ambuvu ambuvu. [Skt.] n. Water. నీళ్లు అంబుజము or అంబురుహము a lotus. అంబుజోదరుడు an epithet of Vishnu. అంబుజలోచన or అంబుజాక్షి a lotus-eyed woman. అంబుదము a cloud. అంబుధి the sea. అంబురాశి the ocean.

(p. 38) aḍḍamu or అడ్డమైన aḍḍamu. [Tel.] adj. Cross. నన్ను అడ్డమైన మాటలు ఆడినాడు he reviled me. అడ్డమైనకూళ్లు any food that comes to the hand. నాకు అడ్డమైనపని పెట్టుతున్నాడు he employs me in anything that comes to hand. వాడు అడ్డదోవలు తొక్కుచున్నాడు he goes the wrong way to work. అడ్డకట్ట aḍḍa-kaṭṭa. To interpose, to help; to obstruct, impede. విఘూతమగు, వారించు. నా పనికి అడ్డుపడ్డాడు he threw obstacles in my way. భార్యను కొట్టబోతే కొడుకు అడ్డుపడినాడు as he was going to strike his wife his son interposed. నేనడ్డపడకపోతే వాండ్లు వత్తురు had I not interposed they would have died. అడ్డపాటు aḍḍa-pāṭu. [Tel.] n. Obstacle, hindrance, obstruction. అడ్డి, విఘ్నము. అడ్డబాస aḍḍa-bāsa. n. A nose jewel. బులాకి. అడ్డబొట్టు aḍḍa-boṭṭu. A cross mark worn by the Hindus on their fore-head. అడ్డమాను aḍḍa-mānu. A cross bar. వాడు అడ్డవాట్లు వేస్తున్నాడు he throws impediments in the way.

(p. 52) anipiñcu anipinṭsụ. [Tel. causative of అను.] v. n. To cause one to say. జ్వరములో ఉరికె నీళ్లు తాగవలెననిపించును in a fever one is inclined to drink constantly. ఇంత చల్లగాలి కొట్టితే ఎండకాలమనిపించదు while this cool breeze blows it does not seem to be summer (lit.) the heat is not felt. యోగ్యుడనిపించుకొన్నాడు he was considered a good man.

(p. 144) īḍupu or ఈడ్పు īḍupu. [Tel.] n. Pulling, dragging, impetus, hard breathing. A stitch in the side, the contraction of a limb. నీళ్లు నిండా యీడ్చుగానున్నవి the water runs here with a great draught. ఈడుపు or పొదికట్టు the sill, the side post of a door.

(p. 153) uḍḍukuḍucu uḍḍu-kuḍuṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To be out of breath, to be suffocated. To be at one's wits' end. ఊపిరి తిప్పుకొనలేక బాధపడు. స్నానమందు నీళ్లచలికి ప్రాణములు ఉడ్డుకుడిచినవి the coldness of the water took away my breath. పిల్ల పాలుడ్డుకుడిచినది the infant was choked with milk.

(p. 179) eṇḍu eṇḍu. [Tel.] v. n. To dry up, to become dry, to become lean or withered. తడి ఆరు, నీళ్లు ఇంకు, తపించు, శుష్కించు, ఎండిపోయిన dried up. ఎండు eṇḍu. adj. Dry, dried, shrivelling. ఎండుతెవులు a wasting disease.
