A place. స్థానము. నెలకూన the crescent moon, బాలచంద్రుడు A nail mark, నఖక్షతము. వసు. vi. నెలకొను or నెలవుకొను nela-konu. v. n. To be, stay, arise. ఉండు, నిలుచుండు, పుట్టు, కలుగు. To become firm or settled, నిలుకడయగు. 'క నేముం జనుదెంచెద మూరట, నెలకొని వృషభమపజ్జనడుచు గోవులపగిదిన్.' M. VII. i. 55.

(p. 1176) vidhi vidhi. [Skt.] n. An order, command, rule, law. నియోగము, విధానము. An act prescribed by the Vedas; an ordinance; duty. వేదశాస్త్రోక్తవిధి, ఏర్పాటు. Providence. Fate, destiny, luck. భాగ్యము. Brahma, God. విధిలేక వెళ్లినాను having no alternative I went there పదిదినములు నీవు ఇక్కడ ఉండక విధిలేదు there is no alternative, you must remain here for ten days, నావిధినేముందును this is my fate, what can I say? విధవశమున దొరికినది, లేక, చిచక్కినది it was found by chance. యథావిధిగా నడిచినది it was done according to rule. విధించు vidhinṭsu. v. a. To order, command, ordain, prescribe, allot, adjudge, assign. ఆజ్ఞాపించు, నిర్ణయించు, ఏర్పాటుచేయు, కట్టడచేయు. వానికి ప్రాయశ్చిత్తము విధించినారు they appointed him a penance. ఈ శీక్ష విధింపబడినది this punishment was awarded. యాభైరూపాయలు అపరాధము (లేక, జులమానా) విధించినారు they sentenced him to pay a fine of Rs. 50. విధ్యుక్తము vidh-yuktamu. adj. Prescribed, legal, యథావిధియైన. విధ్యుక్తముగా vidh-yuktamu-gā. adv. Legally, in proper form or manner, యథావిధిగా.

(p. 1210) vennu vennu. [Tel.] n. The back. వీపు. An ear of corn, వరిమొదలైనవాటి ఎన్ను. 'వెనుకచిక్కితిరోయని వెన్నుచరచి.' Lavan. 30. 'చెరకువెన్ను పుట్టిచెరచదాతీ పెల్ల.' Vēma. 17. వాడు నా వెన్నుదన్నుకొని పుట్టినవాడు he was born next after me. వరి వెన్నుతీసినది the crop of grain sprouted. వెన్నుకట్టె or వెన్నుగుదియ vennu-kaṭṭe. n. A back breaker: that is a cudgel. నడుమువిరగకొట్టే కర్ర, భంజకము. 'కుచ్చితవృత్తులకును వెన్నుగిదియ.' L. xv. 107. వెన్నాడు or వెన్నడు venn-āḍu. v. a. To follow closely, to pursue, వెంబడించు. A kind of harrow. చోడకంకి జొన్నకంకి మొదలైనవి నూర్చునప్పుడు బయలుదేరు బూగరపోవుటకును నేముటకును సాధనమైన గొడ్డలివంటి నాలుగైదు పండ్లుగలమాను. వెన్నుదన్ను vennu-dannu. v. n.
