(p. 17) ambāḷamu or అంబాళవృక్షము ambālamu. [Tel.] The hog-plum (Spondias mangifera). the fruit resembling the mango. నోరు అంబాళపుపండు చెయ్యి బలుసుముల్లు your mouth is like a sweet plum and your hand is like a thornbush. (Carr).

(p. 33) aḍa aḍa. [Tel.] n. A lump, clot, mass (as of dates, sugar, hair, &c.) ముద్ద, చింతపండడలు lumps of tamarind. అడకట్టు or అడగొను to become clotted. ముద్దకట్టుకొను. తల అడలుకట్టినది the hair became matted, all the tresses are matted together. అడచేయు aḍa-chēyu. [Tel.] v. To knead and make into lump.

(p. 42) attamu attamu. [Tel.] n. A cluster or part of a bunch of plantains. అరిటిపండ్ల గుత్తి.

(p. 52) ani ani. [Tel.] (Past p|| of అను to say) Having said. This is translated by the word 'That' or 'so' or the infinitive mood is used, as వారు అక్కడ ఉండినారని అన్నాడు he told me that they were there. అవతల వెళ్లరాదని తిరిగీ వస్తిమి we did not think it right to go on and returned; we thought we must not go further; so we came back. నన్ను పొమ్మని చెప్పెను he told me to go. తన సొమ్మని యెంచి considering it his own. దాన్ని నాకని కొన్నాడు he bought it for me. కావలెనని అక్కడికి పోయినాడు he went there on purpose. పండ్లను పటపటమని కొరికినాడు he gnashed his teeth. ఘమ్మని fragrantly. తళుక్కని brilliantly. గడగడమని మాట్లాడినాడు he spoke rapidly. ఈగలు జుమ్మని ముసురు కొన్నవి the flies covered it buzzingly. నీవు ఈ శాలువ కప్పుకొంటే గుమ్మని ఉండును if you wear this shawl it feels warm: or, you will feel warm.

(p. 61) apaṇḍituḍu a-panḍituḍu. [Skt.] An unlearned man.

(p. 61) apakvamu a-pakvamu. [Skt.] adj. Unripe, raw, immature, green.పండని.

(p. 65) appaḷiñcu appaḷinṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To tap, touch, slap, strike gently with the open hand. To embrace, To smear, apply. తట్టు, చరచు, అంటు, యెత్తు, అలింగనము చేసికోను, చరుము. (p. 96) avāri avāri. [Tel.] adj. Abundant, excessive, much, ample. విస్తారమైన. అవారిగ adv. Abundantly, excessively. విస్తారముగా, మెండుగా. 'అవారిగ తియ్యని మేడిపండ్లు గొంచు.' P. iv. 37.

(p. 98) avva avva. [Tel.] n. A grandmother, a mother: any old or respectable woman. జననీజనకులతల్లి, తల్లి, పూజ్యురాలు. అవ్వపండు avva-paṇḍu. n. A certain scarlet fruit called in Tamil చౌరిప్పమ్ శౌ?Eరిపండు శౌరిపండు. It is boiled in oil to anoint the head. అవ్వరో interj. O madam!
