(p. 38) aḍḍamu or అడ్డమైన aḍḍamu. [Tel.] adj. Cross. నన్ను అడ్డమైన మాటలు ఆడినాడు he reviled me. అడ్డమైనకూళ్లు any food that comes to the hand. నాకు అడ్డమైనపని పెట్టుతున్నాడు he employs me in anything that comes to hand. వాడు అడ్డదోవలు తొక్కుచున్నాడు he goes the wrong way to work. అడ్డకట్ట aḍḍa-kaṭṭa. [Tel.] n. A dam or bank, an embankment. సేతువు, చేలకు నీళ్లు నిలిచేటందుకు కట్టిన గట్టు. అడ్డకత్తి aḍḍakatti. A broad sword. పట్టిసము. అడ్డకమ్మి aḍḍa-kammi. A cross piece, the cross selvage in cloth. అడ్డకర్ర aḍḍa-karra. A cross-piece of timber: an obstacle: a bar. విఘూతము. నా పనికి అడ్డకర్రలు వేయుచున్నాడు he throws difficulties in my way. See అడ్డము. అడ్డగోడ addagōḍa a cross-wall. అడ్డచాపు aḍḍa-tṣāpu. A cross beam. అడ్డవాసము. అడ్డతల aḍḍa-tala. A narrow projecting head: having a narrow fore head. నిడుపు తల. అడ్డదూలము aḍḍa-dūlamu. A cross beam. అడ్డదోవ aḍḍa-dōva. A crossway. అడ్డపలక aḍḍa-palaka. A cross plank. అడ్డపట్టె. aḍḍa-paṭṭe. A thick board drawn by two oxen used for smoothing a ploughed field after the grain is sown. మడిసమముచేసే మాను. అడ్డుపడు aḍḍa-paḍu. [Tel.] v. n. To interpose, to help; to obstruct, impede. విఘూతమగు, వారించు. నా పనికి అడ్డుపడ్డాడు he threw obstacles in my way. భార్యను కొట్టబోతే కొడుకు అడ్డుపడినాడు as he was going to strike his wife his son interposed. నేనడ్డపడకపోతే వాండ్లు వత్తురు had I not interposed they would have died. అడ్డపాటు aḍḍa-pāṭu. [Tel.] n. Obstacle, hindrance, obstruction. అడ్డి, విఘ్నము. అడ్డబాస aḍḍa-bāsa. n. A nose jewel. బులాకి. అడ్డబొట్టు aḍḍa-boṭṭu. A cross mark worn by the Hindus on their fore-head. అడ్డమాను aḍḍa-mānu. A cross bar. వాడు అడ్డవాట్లు వేస్తున్నాడు he throws impediments in the way.

(p. 184) eḍapaḍu eḍa-paḍu. [Tel.] v. i. To break off, to separate. ఎడతెగు; to be pledged for పూటపడు. ఎడపడకునికి dissent, refusal, division. BD. i. 389.

(p. 281) kiṅkiri kiṇkiri. [Tel.] n. Anger. కోపము. Nastiness: రోత కింకిరచేయు to foul or defile బిడ్డ యెరుగుట. 'యోగినరుని చీరె పైగింకిరిచేయ.' Navan, 315. కింకిరిపడు kinkiri-paḍu. v. n. To get angry. కోపగిల్లు. To feel nasty రోతపడు. కింకిరిపాటు kinkiri-pāḷu. n. Getting angry. కోపపడుట. Feeling disgusted with రోతపడుట. 'అతిథినినుగొరనేనియు మతిగింకిరి పడకయోలమాసగొనక.' M. XIII. i. 55.

(p. 314) koṇṭa konṭa. [Tel. from కొను.] n. Contraction for కొనుట. 'కర్జూరఫలంభుదాప్రియముచొప్పడకొంటభాస్కరా.'

(p. 314) koṃzu konzu. [Tel.] v. n. To hesitate. అనుమానించు. 'రంజిలితామును మున్నుగ నంజిలిపడకిచ్చెనేని నయముగవారున్ గొం౛కనిత్తురుగ్రమ్మగ.' Kuchēlo. i. 103.

(p. 336) krottamuṭṭu krotta-muṭṭu. [Tel.] n. Fresh spun thread. క్రొత్తనూలు, పడకనినూలు.

(p. 453) coppaḍu ṭsop-paḍu. [Tel. చొప్పు+పడు.] v. n. To be convenient. సరిపడు, అమరిఉండు. To proceed, follow a course. To accrue to, కలుగు, దొరకు. మాటలచొప్పడిన is she fell into conversation. కళలంజొప్పడు శశి the moon who is liable to diminution of light. సైల్యమును పొందుచంద్రుడు. 'వైద్యుడు నెప్పుడు నెడతెగకపారు నేరును ద్విజుడున్ చొప్పడినయూరనుండుము చొప్పడకున్నట్టి యూరు చొరకుము సుమతీ.' చొప్పరుచు or చొప్పరించు ṭsopparaṭsu. v. t. To cause to be convenient చొప్పడజేయు. See చొప్పు.

(p. 610) dopāramu dopāramu. [Tel.] n. The cap used to blind a goshawk or falcon. 'దోరములు తీసి చెంచులు మోరలు వేసినదొపారములునీడిచి ను న్పారగనుదువ్వి రెక్కల నారజముగ డేగవేటలాడిరి వేట్కన్.' Velag. ii.243. చెంచులు మోరలువేసిన దొపారములు, అనగా డేగల ముక్కులకు కండ్లు అగుపడకుండా తోలుతో కుట్టివేసిన గంతలు.

(p. 652) nidānamu nidānamu. [Skt.] n. The original cause, origin, source. ఆదికారణము. నిదానము. [Tel.] n. Steadiness, patience, gentleness, ఆత్రపడక విచారించుట. నిదానముగా మాట్లాడు speak gently. నిదానములేని మాట an uncertainty, a matter about which we are in doubt. పొద్దు నిదానము the exact time. నిదానస్థుడు nidāna-sthu-ḍu. n. A correct, prudent, thoughtful or patient man. నిదానించు nidāninṭsu. v. n. To pause, to deliberate or ponder. ఆత్రపడకవిచారించు నిదానముగా nidāna-mu-gā. adv. Steadily, soberly.

(p. 673) nūyi Same as నుయ్యి. నూతివాయికట్టు the parapet around a well. పశ్వాదులు పడకుండా నూతి చుట్టును కట్టినగోడ.

(p. 699) paḍaka or పడుక paḍaka. [Tel. from పడు.] n. A bed. పరుపు. Repose or reclining. ఇక్కడ పడక చేసినవారు those who lay here. అదేపడకగా పడియున్నాడు or పడ్డపడకగా పడియున్నాడు he did not again arise. పడకయిల్లు paḍaka-y-illu. n. A bed chamber.

(p. 699) paḍaku or పణకు paḍaku. [Tel.] n. A crevice. సందు. స్వా. v. A cave, గుహ. అచ్చ. యు. కాం.

(p. 701) paḍu paḍu. [Tel.] v. n. To feel, To fall, పతనమగు, రాలు. To lie down, శయనించు. To be, to occur, or happen, సంభవించు, కలుగు. To be caught in a snare. To suffer pain, శ్రమమొందు. To be killed in battle. చచ్చు. To be buried, as money, పూడు. To set, అస్తమించు. v. a. To experience, అనుభవించు. To incur, undergo, enjoy, feel, పొందు. నేను పడిన బాధ నాకే తెలుసును I alone know what I have suffered. Added to nouns it forms them into verbs. సమ్మతిపడు to agree. సంతోషపడు to be pleased. సంతాపపడు to feel sorry. చింతపడు to be anxious. తిట్లుపడు to be reviled. తొందరపడు to be in distress. భయపడు to fear. మానుపడు to be stunned. వానికి నక్కిళ్లు పడినవి he has the lockjaw. It may be added in a similar way to past participles. ఉలికిపడు to start. తూగిపడు to slumber. It is also added to adjectives or verbs. ఎర్రపడు to redden, blush or turn red. వేరుపడు to be separated. ఏర్పడు to become. It may even be added to an interjection, కటకటపడు to cry Alas, to pity. తహతహపడు to be in trouble. ఆ యిల్లు పడినది that house is fallen in. ఆ వలలో నాలుగు పక్షులు పడినవి four birds were caught in the snare. అక్కడ ఒక పల్లము పడినది a hollow has formed there. ఆ యుద్ధములో నలుగురు పడినారు or పడిపోయినాడు four persons were killed in the battle. వానికి బంకపడుచున్నది he passes slime or mucus. వానికి పురుగులు పడినవి he passed worms. వానికి కుడిచెయ్యి పడినది his right hand has become paralysed. వారు వెనుకపడినారు they fell back, they retired. ఆ మతములో పడినాడు he embraced that religion. పేరుపడన renowned, celebrated, notorious. తటస్థపడినప్పుడు when an opportunity occurs. మరుగుపడినారు they went out of sight. నాకు వచ్చిన ఆపదకు వాడు అడ్డపడినాడు he stood in the way of the misfortune that happened to me. వారిద్దరికిని పడదు they do not agree, they are on bad terms. దానినోటిలో పడకుము do not put it in her power to abuse you. ఆ బావిలో మంచినీళ్లు పడినవి sweet water broke forth in the well. వానితో పడలేను I cannot get on with him. నాకు ఇప్పుడు పోవడము పడదు I cannot go now. ఇంకా విత్తనము పడలేదు the seed is not yet sown. ఆ చేనిలో అడ్డముగా పడి వారిపోయినాడు he ran away across the field. ఆ యిల్లు ఊరికె పడియున్నది that house is unoccupied. ఆ రూకలు ఊరిక పడియున్నవి that money is untouched, it is lying idle. ఆ సంసారము నా నెత్తిని పడినది that family is now left on my hands. ఆ నష్టము నా తలమిద పడినది I incurred that loss. Added to the root in A it forms the passive voice, thus కొట్టపడు to be beaten; చూడబడు to be seen. It is added at pleasure to some adverbs, thus బోర్లపడిన prostrate. తలక్రిందులుపడు to be topsy turvy, upside down, to be conceited. అది బయటపడినది it came to light. The causal form is పరుచు or పరచు. తొందరపరచు to trouble, torment. పడగొట్టు paḍa-goṭṭu. v. a. To knock down. పడదన్ను paḍa-dannu. v. a. To kick down. పడదొక్కు paḍa-lokku. v. a. To tread down. పడదోయు paḍa-dōya. v. a. To thrust down, knock down. పడవేయు paḍa-vēyu. v. a. To cast or throw down. పడిపోవు paḍi-pōvu. v. n. To fall down, to die. ఆయన పడిపోయిన తర్వాత after his decease. పడుకొను paḍu-konu. v. n. To lie down, recline. పడువ paḍuva. n. A very low place. మిక్కిలి పల్లమైనచోటు. పడువరి paḍu-vari. (పడు+వరి.) n. A crop or sprouts produced by seeds of paddy, that fall by chance as the crops are cut. పడ్డ paḍḍa. [contr. for పడిన.] pp. Fallen, &c., thus, పిలువబడ్డవాడు the man who was called. ఉంచబడ్డవాడు he who was kept there.

(p. 797) pēlu or ప్రేలు pēlu. [Tel.] v. n. To swell out through heat, సెగచేత ఉబుకు. To break out in prickly heat, or any eruption. To be fried, to be parched. To gabble, brag, chatter, to talk nonsense. To fret. జ్వరము పేలిపడకాయుచున్నది the fever is burning hot. చిటచిటప్రేలు to crackle in roasting. 'వేల్పులెల్ల చిటచిటబ్రేలుచు చటచటబాసి.' BD. iv. 621. వానిముఖము చిటచిట పేలుచున్నది he is very peevish, వాని ముఖము ధుమధుమలాడుచున్నది. ప్రేలడము tattling. పేల్చు or పేలుచు pēlṭsu. To fry. Metaphorically, to grieve. A. v. 56. పేల్పుచేప a fried fish పేలరితనము pēlari-tanamu. n. Talkativeness. నదురు బోతుతనము.
