(p. 38) aḍḍamu aḍḍamu. [Tel.] n. Obstacle, hindrance, A screen. అభ్యంతరము, ఆటంకము, చటు. A pledge తాకట్టు నీ మాటకు అడ్డము లేదు no one will resist you. వాండ్లకు మాకు గోడ అడ్డముగా ఉండినది there was a wall between them and us. ఒక నగను అడ్డము పెట్టి యిరువైరూపాయలు తెచ్చినాడు he pawned a jewel and got twenty rupees. నా పనికి అడ్డము వచ్చినాడు he opposed my endeavours. మొగుణ్ని అడ్డముపెట్టుకొని తానే అన్ని పనులు చూచుకొనిపోయినది she used her husband as a screen and carried on the business. వాడు తండ్రికి అడ్డమాడుతాడు he opposes or contradicts his father. తిరుపతికి పోయేలోగా మూడేళ్లు అడ్డమువస్తవి there are three rivers to cross on the way to Tirupati. ఏదో ఒకటి వచ్చి అడ్డముపడినది something has got in the way. వానికి అడ్డము తగిలినారు they interrupted him. కొంతదూరము దోవనే పోయి అవతల అడ్డము తిరిగినాడు or అడ్డము తొక్కినాడు he went along some way and then cut across. 'కరాగ్రములు దృష్టులకడ్డమిడుచు.' BD. iv. 1532. అడ్డముగా aḍḍamu-gā. [Tel.] adv. Crosswise, across, transversely. చెట్టు కండ్లకు అడ్డముగానున్నది the tree intercepts the view, నేను అడ్డముగా నిలిస్తిని I stood in his way.

(p. 38) aḍḍādiḍḍi aḍḍā-diḍḍi. [Tel.] adj. Froward, perverse. అక్రమమైన, నన్ను అడ్డాదిడ్డిపనులకు పంపుతాడు he employs me on idle jobs. అడ్డాదిడ్డిమాటలు ఆడబోకు do not speak perversely.

(p. 132) inta inta. [Tel. ఇ+అంత] adj. This much, so large as this. ఇంతమట్టుకు thus far; as yet. ఇంతకు and beside all this. ఇంతలో meanwhile. ఇంతకుమున్ను, ఇంతకుపూర్వము heretofore. ఇక యింత this much more. ఇంతదాక all this while, thus far. ఇంత చెడ్డ so bad. ఇంతపొడుగు so long. ఇంతలు కన్నులు eyes so large. ఇంతలేసి పనులు such great works. నాలుగింతలు four times as much. ఇంతా అంతా కాదు it is vastly great, lit. it is not so much nor so much. వాడు పడ్డ ప్రయాసము ఇంతంతకాదు the trouble he is in is beyond telling. ఇంతంత దొంగకాడు he is no common rogue. ఇంతట intaṭa. adv. With this. ఇంతటిలో within this time. ఇంతటి such. ఇంతవట్టు inta-vaṭṭu. All this. ఇది అంతయును. ఇంతమాత్రము. ఇంతియ, or ఇంతె only this much; that's all ఇంతమాత్రమే, ఇంతియెగాని and notwithstanding all. ఇంతేకాకుండా and besides all this.

(p. 135) iṭīvala iṭīvala. [Tel. ఇటు+ఈవల] adv. Since, that time, lately, recently, latterly. ఇటీవల నుండిపోయినరాజు the late king. ఇటీవలి (in the inflexion) subsequent, as ఇటీవలిపనులు the latter operations. ఇటీవలి వివరములు subsequent particulars.

(p. 174) ūḍigamu ūḍigamu. [Tel.] n. Service. Drudgery, task. కొలవు. ఊడిగపు పనులు menial duties. ఊడిగపుది ūḍigapudi. n. A maid servant. ఊడిగపువాడు or ఊడిగీడు ūḍigapu-vāḍu. n. A man servant, a menial.

(p. 218) ōde or ఓదియ ōde. [Tel.] n. A rick of corn formed of several పనులు or cocks. ఒర్రె. See నామి. ఓదెకొంగ or ఓదెకొరుకు ōde-konga. n. The harvest crane. The common crane, grus communis; and the demoiselle crane, anthropoides virgo.

(p. 304) kūyu kūyu. [Tel. from కూ anuk] v. n. To cry, exclaim, to make noise. To clamour, yell. To bark, bray, crow, mew, croak, call, sing, shriek, hoot, as an owl. అరచు. కూయు kūyi n. A cry. కూత, మొర. Protection. రక్షణము. 'పనులకు గూయిగా జనియెబాపడు' భార. నిరా. v.

(p. 351) gaṭṭuvālu gaṭṭu-vālu. [Tel.] n. A street woman. బజారుస్త్రీ, విచ్చలవిడియై ఒకరియింటనుండి శృంగారించుటలోనగు పనులు చేసే ఆడుది.

(p. 353) gaḍḍu gaḍḍu. [Tel.] adj. Hard, rare, scarce. అసాధ్యము. adv. Much. మిక్కిలి. గడ్డుమాట a bold word. గడ్డువాడు a dangerous character. గడ్డు n. Violence, outrage. Difficulty. బలాత్కారము, ప్రయాసము, దుర్లభము. గడ్డురుకు to rebel, to be stiff-necked. గడ్డురుకు to rebel, to be stiff-necked. గడ్డుపనులు bold deeds. గడ్డుకొను gaḍḍu-konu. v. n. To excel. అతిశయించు.

(p. 387) goḍḍa goḍḍa. [Tel.] n. Hardness. బిరుసు. A hard word బిరుసుమాట. A hard man బిరుసువాడు. గొడ్డగము goḍḍagamu. adj. Troublesome బాధకము. గొడ్డతనము goḍḍa-tanamu. n. Stubbornness మొండితనము. (p. 520) tāku tāku. [Tel.] n. A touch, contact. తాకుట. An attack. A toe-ring. కాలిటాకు. v. a. & v. n. To touch; to strike, to push, to encounter, oppose, front. To be attached to join, apply. To strike (as heat does.) తాకేముందు a potent drug. నీవు చేసినపనులు నీ తలకే తాకినవి your sin has fallen on your own head. వానికి దిష్టి తాకినది he is suffering from the effects of an evil eye. వానికి రోగము తాకినది he has caught the disease. తాకించు tākinṭsu. v. a. To cause to touch, to put in contact with, to apply. తాకజేయు. To trouble శ్రమపరుచు. తాకుడు tākuḍu. n. Touching. తాకుట. స్పర్శము. తాకుడువేకి tākuḍu-vēki. n. (p. 533) tīga , తీగె or తీవ tīga. [Tel.] n. A creeping plant or vine; a tendril or spray. లత. A wire, the string of a lute, తంతి. A necklace of gold wire, a gold or silver belt, మొల నూలు. A gold ornament worn by women, బంగారుపట్టెడ. ప్రేముతీగలు the rattan lacing in a chair. మెరుపుతీగె a flash of lightning. పాచితీగె, బంగారుతీగె, &c., are various creepers. తీగెగరక tīge-garika. n. A creeping species of bent grass, called Agrostis stolonifera. తీగబచ్చలి a creeper, Convolvuḷus repens. See బచ్చలి. తీగయిల్లు an arbour పొదరిల్లు. తీగయెలుగు a low voice హీనస్వరము. తీగబోడి tīga-bōdi. n. A slight and graceful girl. తీగమల్లె the creeping Jasmine. తీగమెరుగు tīga-merugu. n. Lightning without thunder ఉరుములేని మెరుపు. A sort of grain. తీగమోడి tīga-mōḍi. n. Patterns of flourishes or carved work in carpentry. వ్రాతపని. ముత్తెములు తీగెమోడికుట్టే పనులు embroidery in the fashion of sprigs of pearl. తీగసాగు tīga-sāgu. v. n. To increase, to prosper వర్ధిల్లు. గార బాగా తీగెలు సాగేలాగున కలిపిరి they mixed the mortar till it was of a proper consistency. తీగలుపారు to spread వ్యాపించు. తీగవిలుకాడు an epithet of Manmadha. తీగసరులు a kind of rice ధ్యాన్యవిశేషము.

(p. 546) tegaḍu tegaḍu. [Tel.] v. a. To scorn, revile, censure, chide. తిరస్కరించు, నిందించు. అడ్డంబు తెగడెడుమోము the face that scorned the brilliance of the looking glass. 'తే దేవతలు చేయు పనులకు దెగడదగునె.' Das. vii. 78. 'ఒకపరిదెగడు వేరొకపరిబెగడు.' ND. i. 711. v. n. To be scorned. ఉపేక్షింపబడు. n. Scorn, censure. నింద.

(p. 630) naḍayāḍu nada-y-āḍu. [Skt. నడ+ఆడు.] v. n. To wander abour, to roam, సంచరించు. To move, shake or tremble, చలించు. నడవ nadava. n.
