Porridge. పిండి నూకలువేసి ౛ావగాకాచినది. చింతంబలి paste made of pounded tamarind seeds. అంబట్టి కుండ a porridge-pot. అంబటిప్రొద్దు break-fast time: about noon. 'పలుచనియంబళుల్ చెరుకుపాలెడనీళ్లు ... వడపిందెలు నీరుచల్లయున్ వెలయగబెట్టు వెసవిఁజందనచర్చమున్నగన్.' Amuk. i. 41.

(p. 79) arayu arayu. [Tel.] v. a. To search, examine, see, observe, know, understand. వెదకు, విచారించు, విమర్శించు, పరికించు, చూచు, ఎరుగు, తెలిసికొను. 'తగువారి నరయంగబంపు.' BD. v. 168. అరయన్, అరయగ, or అరయంగ adv. On examining, or searching for. విచారింపగా. అరయించు (causal of అరయు) To cause to search, to have a search made. వెతికించు. (p. 81) arimi arimi. [Tel.] n. A disease to which children are subject, tonsilitis, బిడ్డలగొంతునకు వచ్చే ఒక రోగము. 'ఏలపలుకవు చెప్పవే యన్న నీకు, నరిమియో కోపయోయంగిటి ముల్లో.' Bhallana iii. 726.

(p. 93) avadagāki avada-gāki. [Tel.] n. An abominable wretch. పలుగాకి. 'దాచియెదురు పోయి దక్కిన గతి నువ్వునివ్వటిల్లవదన నీరజమున, కూర్చి చెట్టబట్టుకొని తెచ్చెలోపలి, కవదగాకినారియత్తలారి.' P. i. 592.

(p. 113) āda āda. [Tel.] n. Sorrow, grief. దుఃఖము, విచారము. ఆదమరచి āda-marachi. adv. Soundly, well, casually. హాయిగా, నిర్వ్యాకులముగా, నిశ్చింతగా, నోరు౛ారి. M. X. i. 53. A. iv. 229 'అనియాదమరచిపలుకగ.' R. vii. 46.

(p. 124) ālamu ālamu. [Tel.] n. War, battle. Plague, trouble, oppression; పోరు, జగడము. Disregard, scorn, despite. ఆలక్ష్యము, వ్యర్థము. 'అనిపలుకు నమ్మరాశలోలనయన పలుకులాలం బుచేసి చక్రవాకి యిట్లనియె.' Swa. vi. 72.

(p. 147) u u. [Tel. In common writing the vowel ఉ is shaped like ర. Compare with this the Kanarese ఉ and the Skt. ఉ and Eng. U and W, all having the same origin.] The vowel U, as sounded in put, as in oo foot. Many Telugu words use A or U at pleasure: particularly in the second syllable, thus: వాలుగ or వాలగ, పరచు or పరుచు, కరగు or వరస or వరుస, అటక or అటుక, తరము or తరుము, పలకరించు or పలుకరించు. If one of these forms does not occur we must look for the word the other spelling.

(p. 155) uttaruḍu uttaruḍu. [Skt.] n. Name of the son of Virāṭa (See Bhārata). ఉత్తరకుమార ప్రజ్ఞలు vain bragging like that of ఉత్తరుడు. ఉత్తరకుమార ప్రజ్ఞలు పలుకువాడు he is a mere braggart.

(p. 158) uddamu uddamu. [Tel.] n. Height, length. ఉద్దములు or ఉద్దాలు uddamulu. n. Shoes, slippers. పాదరక్షలు. 'పాదములు కిర్రుకిర్రని పలుకుచుండి కుచ్చుటుద్దాలు చేపట్టుకోలయమర.' H. iii. 121.

(p. 183) eggu eggu. [Tel.] n. Harm, injury, కీడు, అపవాదము. Shame, disgrace. అనాదరము, దూషణము. Abuse or evil word కీడుమాట. Fault, sin అపరాధము, దోషము. Loss or evil కీడు, నష్టము. ఎగ్గులాడు, ఎగులుపట్టు. eggul-āḍu. v. t. To find fault, to disgrace. నిందించు. ఎగ్గొందు to meet with ill success, to be baffled. క. (p. 188) eduru eduru. [Tel.] n. The front. An opponent ప్రతివిరోధి. adj. ఎదురు opposite, other. అన్యమైన. ఎదురాడు edur-āḍu. (ఎదురు+ఆడు) v. i. To speak against, to oppose. మారాడు. ఎదురీదు to swim against, to resist. ఎదురుకట్టుల or ఎదురుకట్ల eduru-kaṭṭula. adv. In front ఎదుట. ఎదురుకుత్తుక eduru-kuttuka. n. The lock jaw. ఎదురుకొను or ఎదుర్కొను eduru-konu. v. n. & a. To go forward to meet. To act against, to disobey. ఎదురగు, ఎదిరించు. ఎదురుకోలు or ఎదుర్కోలు edur-kōlu. n. The mutual advances of the relations of the bride and bridegroom during the marriage. Going forward to welcome a guest. ఎదురుగడ eduru-gaḍa. n. A joint bond, a reciprocal or mutual agreement. ఎదురు వ్రాసిన ఒడంబడికలోనగునవి. ఎదురుగడగా వ్రాయు to write off (a sum as balance.) ఎదురుగాలి eduru-gāli. n. A head-wind, a contrary wind. ఎదురుచూచు eduru-ṭsūṭsu. v. n. To look forward, expect ప్రతీక్షించు. ఎదురుపడు eduru-paḍu. v. To come forward to meet. ఎదురుగావచ్చు. To be met. వాడు నాకు ఎదురుపడినాడు I met them. ఎదురుపలుకు eduru-paluku. v. n. To object, gainsay. ఎదురురొమ్ము eduru-rommu. n. The chest or breast. రొమ్ము నడిమి భాగము. ఎదురువడ్డి cross interest. ఎదురువ్యాజ్యము eduru-vyājyamu. n. A cross suit ఎదురేగు edur-ēgu. v. i. To go in the opposite direction to meet. ఎదురుగాపోవు. ఎదురొత్తు edur-ottu. n. A return push, shove for shove. మారొత్తు. ఎదురుక్షౌరము shaving against the grain, or, the wrong way.

(p. 272) kāpēyamu kāpēyamu. [Skt. from కపి.] adj. Simian, pertaining to monkeys. n. Monkeyhood; the state of being like a monkey. కవిత్వము. 'పలుమరుకాపేయంబున దలపకపలికెదవు.' BRK. 243. 'భూపుత్రియునికిదలపకకాపేయముచేసి స్వామి ఘాతడనైతిన్.' BR. Sundra 553.

(p. 281) kiñcu or క్రించు kintsu. [Tel.] adj. Cruel, spiteful, mean. అల్పుడు 'పండితారాధ్యుపరసమయాభేద్యునాధ్యుగ్రించుబౌధ్ధుడుధక్కరించి పలుకుచును.' Panditārādhya. iv. 959. 'అక్కించురక్కసి నుగండుద్దండగతినార్చుచు.' R. v. 192.

(p. 295) kuppa kuppa [Tel.] A heap or pile, assemblage or collection. కుప్ప బండి a scavenger's cart. చక్కదనములకుప్ప an assemblage of charms. కుప్పతెప్పలుగా abundantly. కప్ప తెప్పలుగా చనిపోవుచున్నారు they are dying in heaps. కుప్పగూరగా or కుప్పనగూరగా all of a heap, in a heap, abundantly. కుప్పలుగా, కుప్పలుపడి. 'వజ్రోపమాణకాండములువెసన్ గుప్పనగూరగనేపున.' M. VIII. ii. 346. కుప్పవడు or కుప్పతిలు to become a heap, to accumulate into a heap కుప్పగా చేరు. కుప్పకోలుగొన abundantly. plentifully. 'అర్తరవంబులు కుప్పుకోలుగొన గర్హించు తెరంగులెరింగి.' HK. iii. 61.
