(p. 109) āgu āgu. [Tel.] v. n. To stop, to stay, asbtain, refrain. To bear (as a cord does a weight.) To be confined, set aside, or reserved. ఆయింటను ఆగబడి యున్నదేవకి (B. X. 75.) Devaki who was kept in restraint. తల్లిదండ్రులులెని బాలురు ఆగ నీవు దిక్కు thou art the refuge of the helpless. పశువులకు ఆరినబీడు land set aside or reserved for pasture. ఇది లేనిది నాకు ఆగదు I cannot get on without this. నా నోటిలో ఆ మాట ఆగదు I cannot keep that word a secret. ఆగు, ఆగించు, ఆచు, ఆపు the causal of ఆగు: āgu. [Tel.] v. t. To stop, check, hinder. To keep, tend. To look to, superintend, guard, protect, preserve. To fold or gather as a flock. నోరాచి మాట్లాడిరి they spoke cautiously. చెయ్యి ఆపక (T. v. 22.) without intermission. నిద్ర ఆచుట to refrain from sleep, keep away drowsiness. రాత్రిళ్లు ఇక్కడ మందులు ఆచుకొని యుండేవారు they used to keep cattle here at nights.

(p. 352) gaḍi gaḍi. [Tel.] n. A limit, a boundary. ఎల్ల. గడికొల్లలు plundering on the borders. గడినేలలు boundary lands. గడిమెకము a cunning animal which evades the hunter వేటకుచిక్కని మృగము. గడితేరు to be expert, నిపుణుడగు, కడలేరు. plu. గళ్లు. గళ్లుచేయు to mark the boundaries. గడి gaḍi. n. Strength, a stronghold, fortalice or petty fort బలము. కోట, దుర్గము. గడి adj. Big, stout. గడిగుండు a big stone. గడితాడు a stout rope. (p. 365) gāli gāli. [Tel.] n. Wind, air, breeze. వాయువు. Scent మృగములదేహవాసన. A devil పిశాచము. plu. గాలులు. వానికి గాలి సోకినది he is possessed by a devil. గాలి విద్య an art that, like painting, depends on geniua alone and cannot be taught. గాలిమాట. a rumour. Empty talk, nonsense, లోక ప్రవాదము. గాలికుంటు a spavin, a disease that attacks horses and cattle. పిచ్చుకకుంటి, పశువులకు గొరిసెలందు పుండుపడే వ్యాధి. గాలికల a senseless or empty dream. వారిది గాలిజీవనము they live upon the wind, i.e., they have no settled means of life. గాలికుక్క gāli-kukka. n. A hound: because it follows the scent. గాలిగుడి gāli-guḍi. n. A halo round the sun or moon. పరివేషము. గాలిగాడు gāli-gāḍu. n. An ass; a fool. గాలిగుడ్డు gāli-guḍḍu. lit. A wind egg. A simpleton. Nothing, nonsense. గాలిగూళ్లు (from గూడు.) gāli-gūḷḷu. n. A mode of arranging sheaves so as to be aired. గాలిగొను gāli-gonu. v. n. To be aired. గాలిపారు. గాలిగోపురము gāli-gōpuramu. n. The dome over a temple gate: a steeple. The ornamented gate of a temple. గాలి చక్రము gāli-chakramu. n. A weather-cock. గాలిదిండి gālidinḍi. n. A snake. పాము. గాలినెచ్చెలి gāli-nechecheli. n. A domestic animal such as a cow, buffalo, goat, or sheep. పశువులకొట్టము a cow house. పశుభావము simplicity. పశుకృత్యము a brutal act. పశుఘ్నుడు a slayer of animals. పశుజనము the profane or brute folk, i.e., the heathen, the heterodox, or uninitiated. పశుపతి paṣu-pati. n. A name of Siva, as the master or ruler of all living creatures. పశుప్రాయుడు a brutish or ignorant man.
