(p. 17) ambārapiṇuzu or పిడుదు ambārapiṇuzu. [Tel.] n. A tick which infests animals. పశువులను పట్టే పురుగు.

(p. 83) aruvu aruvu. [Tel.] n. A loan in grains. ధాన్యాదుల అప్పు. అరుపుకాపు a tenant. అద్దె కాపు. అరువు. [cf. Tamil అరివి] n. Good sense; judgement; the reasoning faculty. తెలివి. వానికి అరువు చెడినది he has lost his wits. అరువుతిక్క aruvu-tikka. [Tel.] n. A disease among cattle in which the belly is swollen in consequence of eating green fodder. ఉంగిడిరోగము, అనగాపశువులకు వచ్చే ఒక వ్యాధి.

(p. 109) āgu āgu. [Tel.] v. n. To stop, to stay, asbtain, refrain. To bear (as a cord does a weight.) To be confined, set aside, or reserved. ఆయింటను ఆగబడి యున్నదేవకి (B. X. 75.) Devaki who was kept in restraint. తల్లిదండ్రులులెని బాలురు ఆగ నీవు దిక్కు thou art the refuge of the helpless. పశువులకు ఆరినబీడు land set aside or reserved for pasture. ఇది లేనిది నాకు ఆగదు I cannot get on without this. నా నోటిలో ఆ మాట ఆగదు I cannot keep that word a secret. ఆగు, ఆగించు, ఆచు, ఆపు the causal of ఆగు: āgu. [Tel.] v. t. To stop, check, hinder. To keep, tend. To look to, superintend, guard, protect, preserve. To fold or gather as a flock. నోరాచి మాట్లాడిరి they spoke cautiously. చెయ్యి ఆపక (T. v. 22.) without intermission. నిద్ర ఆచుట to refrain from sleep, keep away drowsiness. రాత్రిళ్లు ఇక్కడ మందులు ఆచుకొని యుండేవారు they used to keep cattle here at nights.

(p. 187) edāvu edāvu. [Tel. ఎద+ఆవు] n. A cow in heat ఆబోతు చేర వీలుగానున్న. ఆవు. ఎదపశువు. A cow ready for the bull. ఎద అయినది it is in heat.

(p. 212) ommika ommika. [Tel. from ఒమ్ము] n. Suitability, fitness. ఇమిడిక, పొందిక. ఒమ్మివచ్చు ommivaṭṭsu. v. n. To prosper, to thrive అచ్చివచ్చు. పశువులు ఇతనికి ఒమ్మిరాలేదు he had no good luck in cattle; his cattle did not turn out well. అతనికి జీడి ఒమ్మి ఉంటుంది the jīḍi milk agrees well with him.

(p. 268) kācu kāṭsu. [Tel.] v. a. To guard, keep, watch, tend, protect, take care of. To nourish. To spare, have mercy on, forgive, excuse. రక్షించు, కాపాడు. To keep off. అడచు. పశువులుకాచడము to tend cattle. పశువులుకాచేవాడు a cow herd. రాత్రి అంతా నిద్ర కాచినాడు he kept awake all night. నన్నుకాచేదిక్కులేదు. I have nobody who cares for me. నేను అట్లా చేసినట్టయితే నన్ను కాయబోకండి have no mercy on me if I have done so.

(p. 352) gaḍi gaḍi. [Tel.] n. A limit, a boundary. ఎల్ల. గడికొల్లలు plundering on the borders. గడినేలలు boundary lands. గడిమెకము a cunning animal which evades the hunter వేటకుచిక్కని మృగము. గడితేరు to be expert, నిపుణుడగు, కడలేరు. plu. గళ్లు. గళ్లుచేయు to mark the boundaries. గడి gaḍi. n. Strength, a stronghold, fortalice or petty fort బలము. కోట, దుర్గము. గడి adj. Big, stout. గడిగుండు a big stone. గడితాడు a stout rope. (p. 365) gāli gāli. [Tel.] n. Wind, air, breeze. వాయువు. Scent మృగములదేహవాసన. A devil పిశాచము. plu. గాలులు. వానికి గాలి సోకినది he is possessed by a devil. గాలి విద్య an art that, like painting, depends on geniua alone and cannot be taught. గాలిమాట. a rumour. Empty talk, nonsense, లోక ప్రవాదము. గాలికుంటు a spavin, a disease that attacks horses and cattle. పిచ్చుకకుంటి, పశువులకు గొరిసెలందు పుండుపడే వ్యాధి. గాలికల a senseless or empty dream. వారిది గాలిజీవనము they live upon the wind, i.e., they have no settled means of life. గాలికుక్క gāli-kukka. n. A hound: because it follows the scent. గాలిగుడి gāli-guḍi. n. A halo round the sun or moon. పరివేషము. గాలిగాడు gāli-gāḍu. n. An ass; a fool. గాలిగుడ్డు gāli-guḍḍu. lit. A wind egg. A simpleton. Nothing, nonsense. గాలిగూళ్లు (from గూడు.) gāli-gūḷḷu. n. A mode of arranging sheaves so as to be aired. గాలిగొను gāli-gonu. v. n. To be aired. గాలిపారు. గాలిగోపురము gāli-gōpuramu. n. The dome over a temple gate: a steeple. The ornamented gate of a temple. గాలి చక్రము gāli-chakramu. n. A weather-cock. గాలిదిండి gālidinḍi. n. A snake. పాము. గాలినెచ్చెలి gāli-nechecheli. n. (p. 376) gudiguṃzalu gudi-gunzalu. n. Stick planted at the entrance of a pen or fold. పశువుల దొడ్డిద్వారమునకు నిలువుగా పాతిన కర్రలు. గుదిగ్రుచ్చు or గుదికూర్చు gudi-gruṭsṭsu. v. n. (p. 518) talli talli. [Tel. తాయి+లు. The final ల్లి is the sign of the honorific plural and is doubled on account of the preceding long vowel having been shortened. √ త = she who brings (into existence) or who brings food, &c., cf. తండ్రి.] n. A mother. కన్నతల్లి one's own mother, as opposed to సవతితల్లి a stepmother. In affectionate address తల్లీ 'my dear,' is used even to a daughter. adj. Maternal, parent. తల్లిపశువు the parent cow. తల్లియింటనున్నది she lives in her mother's home. Principal, great, chief, main. తల్లినర or తల్లియొర the parapet wall round a well. తల్లికాలవ the principal channel which supplies others. తల్లిగోడ the principal wall in a house. మీరే మాకు తల్లిదండ్రులు you are my father and mother, you are all in all to me. See under తలి. తల్లికొండ్ర talli-konḍra. The first furrow in ploughing మొదటి కొండ్ర. తల్లితల్లి talli-talli. n. A mother's mother, i.e., Lakshmi. తల్లినికనినతల్లి. A grandmother. తల్లివేరు talli-rēru. n. The fap root or principal parent root. ముఖ్యమైనవేరు.

(p. 560) toragu or తొరుగు toragu. [Tel.] v. n. To flow, gush, burst, out, run. కారు, స్రవించు, ప్రవహించు, జారు, రాలు. To fall, పడు. v. a. To leave, quit. వదలు, విడుచు.
