(p. 24) agāḍī agāḍī [H.] adv. Before, in front, forward, further on, ముందర. n. The ropes with which a horse's forefeet are tied. గుర్రముయొక్క మెడకుగాని లేక ముందరి కాళ్లకుగాని కట్టే తాడు. ఆ గుర్రము అగాడిపిచాడీలను తెంచుకొని పారిపోయినది the horse broke its head ropes and heel ropes and ran away.

(p. 31) aṭu aṭu. [Tel.] adj. That. అటు తర్వాత after that. అటుపూర్వము Before that. అటుమొన్న the day before that preceding yesterday. ఏటికి అటుపక్క on the other side of the river. అటుపోక యెటు పోయెనో he did not go there, but is gone I know not whither. తురంగంబటునిటుబడి పారిపోయె the horse ran this way and that way and escaped. అటు atu. [Tel.] adv. So, thus, in that way or manner. అట్లు, ఆరీతిగా. అటువలెనే adv. In like manner. అదేరీతిగా. అటుగాన adv. Wherefore, therefore: so then if so.

(p. 99) aśuddhamu or అశుద్ధత a-ṣuddhamu. [Skt.] n. Impurity, uncleanness. పారిశుద్ధ్యము లేమి (Colloq:) the human excrement. అమేధ్యము. అశుద్ధము adj. Unclean, impure. అశుచియైన.

(p. 122) āru āru. [Tel.] v. n. To teem with, be full of నిండు; to be or have. సొంపారిన beautiful. ఇంపారిన delightful. నిండారుగానున్నది it is full. అలరారు blooming. చెన్నారిన lovely. పొల్పారిన charming (compare the affix ఆరి as నేర్పరి, సొంపరి, &c.) గోజారు to trouble. సొంపారు to bloom, to be pretty. In such phrases as నూరారు వెయ్యారు the word అరు is not the numeral six, but is a form of అరు to be full; so వెయ్యారు means full thousand and నూరారు full a hundred. నూరారుముద్దులు a full hundred kisses. చేతులారంగ శివుని పూజింపడేని if he sacrifice not to Siva with his own hands. చేతులార రూకలు చెల్లిస్తిని I paid the money with my own hands. పని ఆరుమూడు అయినది the work is all in confusion, at sixes and sevens.

(p. 129) āsukōvi āsu-kōvi. [Tel.] n. A stick through which the thread thus placed is passed. ఆసుపోయు āsu-pōyu. v. i. To pass this thread through the ఆసుకోవి: (in so placing it they run backwards and forwards, and hence) ఆసుపోసినట్టు denotes, backwards and forwards: this way and that way. పడుగుదారము తిప్పినట్లు. ఆసుమాను āsu-mānu. n. A frame work used to adjust the thread. నూలు పోగు పారించుటకు వాడే చట్టము.

(p. 132) iṇḍe inḍe. [Tel.] n. A crack, a split. చీలిక. ఇండెపారిన split, cracked. ఇండెపాయు to split. చీలు.

(p. 174) ūḍa ūḍa. [Tel.] n. A root growing down from the branches of the banyan and similar trees. ఊడలు పారినచెట్టు a tree that has such suckers or roots.

(p. 174) ūḍu ūḍu. [Tel.] v. n. To part, drop out, slip out, జారు, రాలు. To give way, fail: to be unfastened, loosened, separated. వదులగు. To flee, run away. పారిపోవు. తండ్రి నోట్లో ఊడిపడ్డాడు he is the very image of his father. ఊడగొట్టు to take out, root up. remove. ఊడదీయు to pull out, to take off (skin or clothes), to unloose. ఊడబీకు to root out. ఊడలాగు to pull out, to draw out.

(p. 201) ēla ēla. [Tel.] n. A hurrah, or hoop. A carol or catch used by rowers of boats శృంగారపు పాట. 'ఏటికట్టగుడిసెవేతాం ఏరువస్తే కూడాపోదాం ఓ, ఓ, గొల్లభామా!' (The books named గరుడాచలము, ఆటభాగవతము, పారిజాతము, &c. contain many specimens of these carols.) Also, a chorus of applause. ఏలపాటలు a kind of play, a game played by children బాలక్రీడావిశేషము. See P. ii. 132.

(p. 213) oracāludukki ora-ṭsālu-dukki. [Tel.] n. A single ploughing ఒకమారు దున్నిన పొలము, చాలు తేలికగాపారిన దుక్కి.

(p. 232) kaṭṭubaṭṭa kaṭṭu-baṭṭa. [Tel.] n. A garment. కట్టుబట్టతో విడిచినారు they left him with the skirt on his back. కట్టుబట్టతో పారివచ్చినాడు he escaped with nothing but the clothes on his back.

(p. 265) kāndiśīkamu or కాందీశీకత్వము. kāndi-ṣīkamu. [Skt.] n. Flight, running away Putting to flight. కాందిశీకుడు kānḍi-ṣīkuḍu. n. A runaway. భయముచేత పారిపోవువాడు.

One of the principal mountains, which are మహేంద్రము, మలయము, సహ్యము, శుక్తిమంతము, గంధమాదనము, వింధ్యము, పారియాత్రము. ప్రధానపర్వతము. కులపాలిక kula-pālika. n. A girl given away in marriage by her parents తల్లిదండ్రులచేనిచ్చి పెండ్లిచేయబడినస్త్రీ. కులవతి or కులస్థురాలు kula-vati. n. A woman of one's own caste. ఆమె నా కులవతికాదు she is not of my caste. కులవిద్య kula-vidya. n. The science or knowledge peculiar to one's caste. కులసతి, కులస్త్రీ kula-sati. n. An honourable wife. కులస్థుడు kulaṣthuḍu. n. A man of the same caste. పదిమంది కులస్థులు neighbours, people of one's caste. కులస్థురాలు a woman of one's own caste. కులహీనుడు kula-hīnuḍu. n. An outcaste. కులాచారము kulā-chāramu. n. The proper duty or profession of a caste or family.
