(p. 263) kavyamu kavayamu. [Skt.] n. The oblation to the spirits (manes) of the deceased. పితృదేవతలకియ్యదగిన అన్నము.

(p. 751) piṇḍamu pinḍamu. [Skt.] n. A lump of rice, అన్నపుముద్ద, A ball. చెండు. A body, form, living frame. ఆకారము, శరీరము. The fœtus or embryo, గర్భస్థశిశువు. The oblations that are made to deceased ancestors. పితృదేవతలకిచ్చు అన్నపుముద్ద. ఈ గండము గడిచి పిండము బయటపడితే చూతము when the fray is over we shall see what happens. నాడు ఉత్పాతపిండము he is a perfect hero. నాకు పిండానికి లేక చస్తున్నాను I am dying for a bit of bread. పిండముపెట్టు to offer balls of rice to the manes of ancestors. Vēma. iii. 192. పిండలి or పిండలివండ pinḍali. (from పిండము.) n. A lump or mass. ముద్ద, గడ్డ. పిండలి పండు or పిండిలిపండు mud and slush. గడ్డలను నీళ్లును, గడ్డలుకట్టినబురద. 'తురగభురోగ్ధూత ధూళితో బెరసిన, వననిధిపిండలి పండుగాగ.' M. IV. iii. 150. పిండాకూడు or పిండాకుడు pinḍā-kūḍu. n. A contemptuous word for food.

(p. 754) pita, pitara or పితరుడు pita. [Skt.] n. A father. తండ్రి. పితరదొర pitara-dora. n. The lord of our fathers, Yama. పితృపతి, యముడు. పితామహుడు pitā-mahuḍu. n. A father's father. తండ్రితండ్రి, తాత. Brahma, బ్రహ్మ. ఆంధ్రకవితాపితామహుడు 'the Father of Telugu poesy,' a title of the celebrated poet Allasāni Peddanna. ప-రపితామహుడు great grandfather. పితామహి a grandmother on the father's side, తండ్రితల్లి. పితాళ్లు piṭaḷḷu. (another form of పితరులు.) n. The manes or ghosts of forefathers. Charitr. i. 1526. పితరులు pitarulu. n. Deceased or departed ancestors, పితృదేవతలు.

(p. 788) petarulu petarulu. [from Skt. పితృలు.] n. plu. Forefathers or ancestors. పితృదేవతలు. పెతరులసామి the lord of the ancestors, i.e., Yama, యముడు. పెతరులచుక్క the constellation called మఘానక్షత్రము. 'పెతరులన్నమనుచు బ్రీతితో బిలిపించి కాకులకును బెట్టు కర్ములార.' Vēma. iii. 191.

(p. 1386) havanamu havanamu. [Skt.] n. A sacrifice, oblation burnt-offering. హోమము. హవనీయము havanīyamu. adj. Sacrificial, fit for or intended for sacrifice. హోమము చేయదగిన. హావము havamu. n. A sacrifice, oblation, యజ్ఞము. A command, ఆజ్ఞ. A call, calling, పిలుపు. హవి, హవిస్సు or హవిష్యము havi. n. An oblation of ghee or clarified butter; an article fit to be offered in sacrifice. Any thing fit to be eaten on holy days and on sacred occasions, as wheat, cow's milk, &c. హోమద్రవ్యము. ఘృతము, నెయ్యి. పిండి మొదలైన లఘ్వాహారము. వ్రతాదులయందు విహితమైన భోజనీయద్రవ్యము. హవ్యము havyamu. n.
