No. 230. రామచిలక. The Rose-ringed Paroquet, Palaeornis torquatus (so called because taught to reiterate the name of Rāma.) అకుచిలక the Western Blossom-headed Paroquet, Palacornis cyanōecphalus. The name is given to some insects, as a moth, thus, ఆకుచిలక, వడ్లచిలక a moth. గడ్డిచిలక, సీతాకోకచిలక a butterfly. A padlock. The bolt or hasp of a door, because these originally had parrot's heads on them. చిలుకల కొలికి a bright-eyed girl or woman. చక్కని స్త్రీ. చిలకకూర or చిలకతోటకూర chilaka-kūra. n. A kind of pot-herb, Amarantus fasciatus. (Watts.) చిలక, చిలకట or చిలుకడ chilaka. n. A saddle buckle: a ring at the end of the rope used as a girth of the bullock saddle through which the other end is passed to fasten the saddle. కొలికిముడి. చిలకడతాడు chilakada-tāḍu. n. A girth. ఎద్దుమీదికందళము, గంతబిగించేతాడు. చిలకకొయ్య or చిలుకకొయ్య chilaka-koyya. n. A wooden pin fixed in the wall, on which articles are suspended. చిలగడ chilagaḍa. (చిలుక+గడ.) n. The cord that fastens a dagger, to prevent its falling out of the sheath. చిలకతాళము chilaka-tāḷamu. n. A padlock. చిలకతాళి or చిలుకతాళి chilaka-tāḷi. n. A gold buckle in the form of a pair of parrots. చిలుకదుదుడి chilaka-duduḍi. n. The name of a certain tree. చిలకపచ్చ chilaka-paṭsṭsa. n. Bright green, parrot green. చిలకమొక్క or చిలకముక్కు chilaka-mokka. n. (lit. Parrot's bill.) A plant called crotolaria. శుకాననము, శుకనాస. Heyne, 130. The purple red and white scentless flower called Balsam. చిలకరౌతు chilaka-rautu. n. Lit: He whose steed is the parrot: an epithet of మన్మథ the god of love. చిలుక కోణము chiluka-kōṃamu. n. A 'T bandage,' or clout.

An ant hill, వల్మీకము. పాముపుట్ట an ant hill in which a snake lives. నాగులచవితికి పుట్టలో పాలుపోయుదురు they pour milk in a snake's hole on the feastday called Nāgula Ṭsaviti. A pack, number, collection, lot heap, crowd. ఆ యిల్లు చీమలపుట్టగా నున్నది the house is a regular ant's nest. ఆ పుస్తకము అబద్ధాలపుట్టగానున్నది that book is a pack of lies. వాని ఒళ్లు వట్టినరములపుట్ట he is mere skin and bone. పుట్టకాపు or పుట్టకూడుదిండి puṭṭa-kāpu. n. Lit: That which feeds on ant hills, i.e., a bear, ఎలుగుగొడ్డు. పుట్టకాలు puṭṭa-kālu. n. A leg swollen with elephantiasis, బూరకాలు, ఏనుగుకాలు. 'పుట్టకాల్ సొట్టవ్రేల్ వట్టివ్రేలుంజెవుల్.' Jagan. i. 54. పుట్టకాలివాడు one who is afflicted with elephantiasis in the leg. పుట్టకుడు puṭṭa-kūḍu. n. The heart of an ant hill, the red earth that contains the eggs. A fungus. కుక్కగొడుగు. 'వ పొట్టకైపుట్టకూటికిం జీమలకుం జెదలునకు నెలుంగులు గలుగులం బుట్టలు నిశితనిజ నఖరకులిశ కోటులంగోరాడ.' Swa. iv. 49. పుట్టకొక్కు, పుట్టగొడుగు or పుట్టచేర్పు puṭṭa-kokku. n. A mushroom, toadstool, fungus. M. XII. v. 418. పుట్టకోట puṭṭa-kōta. n. A bulwark, a buttress. కోటకు కోటబైట వేసిన మట్టితిన్నె. పుట్టకోవలు the pointed tops of ant hills, పుట్టమీదిశిఖరములు. పుట్టగోచి puṭṭa-gōchi. n. A large modesty piece. పెద్దగోచి, కాపీనము. పుట్టచిలుక puṭṭa-chiluka. n. The Sirkeer Cuckoo. Taccocua leschnenaultii, (F.B.I.) పుట్టచూలు or పుట్టపుట్టువు puṭṭa-ṭsūlu. n. He who was 'born of an ant hill.' This is a word translated from the Sanscrit name వాల్మీకి. Vālmīki. పుట్టతమ్మచెట్టు puṭṭa-tamma-cheṭṭu. n. A large creeping plant, the fruit of which is used medicinally. పుట్టతేనె puṭṭa-tēne. n. Honey found in an ant-hill. పుట్టతేలు puṭṭa-tēlu. n. The large black scorpion, so called because found in rubbish. మరిడ్రగబ్బ. పుట్టముంగి puṭṭa-mungi. n. Lit: A mongoose on an ant hill, used as a type of composure. adj. Demure. అది తిట్టుచుండగా పుట్టముంగివలె మారకయుండినాడు she reviled him but he stood stock still. పుట్టలమ్మ puṭṭal-amma. n. A village goddess.

(p. 1042) molacu , మొలుచు or మొల్చు molaṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To sprout, germinate, vegetate, grow. To rise, to appear, as a star. మొలక, మొలవ or మొల్క molaka. [from మొలచు.] n. A germ, a sprout. అంకురము. The core, or centre of a boil. దుర్మాంసవిశేషము. Piles. ఆసనములోని మొలక. ఉపద్రవము. adj. Young, tender. లేత టెంకాయలోని మొలక a substance that rises like a knob in an overripe cocoanut. మొలకక్రొన్నెల the new moon. మొలకనవ్వు a budding smile, i.e., a gentle smile. ఆ వంశమునకు వాడొక మొలక ఉన్నాడు he is the only remaining individual or scion of that family. మొలకపండుగ a vernal festival, the feast of the sprouts. మొలకకట్టు molaka-kaṭṭu. v. a. To put moistened seeds into a basket to germinate with a view to sow them. మొలకెత్తు or మొలకయెత్తు molak-ettu. v. n. To sprout up, మొలచు. మొలకబంగారు molaka-bangāru. n. Fairy gold, supposed to grow in snake-holes, &c. పుట్టలలో పురుగులవల్ల పుట్టే బంగారు. మొలకకాయ molaka-kāya. n. A small kind of Egg plant. A kind of prickly Night shade, Solanum hirsutum. బృహతి. క్షుద్రవార్తాకి. నల్లమొలక్కాయ the black kind. తెల్లమొలక్కాయ the white kind. మొలవేయు molavēyu. v. a. To sow (corn), to cast seed in order to sprout, మొలిచేలాగువేయు, నాటు. మొలిపించు moli-pinṭsu. v. a. To cause to sprout. మొలిచేటట్టుచేయు. మొలతెంచు or మొలతేరు mola-tenṭsu. v. n.
