(p. 76) ayi (past p|| of అగు to become.) Having become, turned into. మాకు అయి నిలిచినాడు he stood like a post., i.e., he has transfixed with surprise &c. దొంగ అయి తిరుగుతున్నాడు he has turned thief. పోకిరి అయిపోయినాడు he has become a wicked fellow. అయిన (past rel. p|| of అగు to become.) Accomplished, becoming, agreeable, suitable. అయినపని a work that is accomplished, a becoming art. అయిన పెండ్లాము a good wife. అయినమందు a suitable medicine. అయినమనిషి a useful or proper man. అయినవాండ్లు friends, relations. The rite which answers to betrothal between children, the actual marriage being called, శోభనము. పెండ్లి అరుగు or పెళ్లితిన్నె a small hillock upon which the marriage takes place. పెండ్లి కూతురు or పెండ్లికొమార్తె n. The bride, వధువు. A daughter-in-law, కోడలు. పెండ్లి కొడుకు, or పెండ్లికుమారుడు n. The bridegroom. A son-in-law, అల్లుడు. తోడిపెండ్లికొడుకు a bridesman. తోడిపెండ్లికూతురు a bridesmaid.పెండ్లికూతురిగది the bride chamber. పెండ్లిచేయించు to unite two persons in marriage. పెండ్లిచేయు to marry a couple. పెండ్లిచేసికొను to marry, i.e., become a husband or wife.పెండ్లిండులు or పెళిళ్లు n. plu. (p. 921) bhārya bhārya. [Skt. భృ to carry, maintain.] n. A wife. భార్యపిల్లలు గలవాడు one who has a wife and children. భార్యాభర్తలు husband and wife, a wedded pair. భార్యాటికుడు bhāryāṭikuḍu. n. A hen-pecked husband. పెండ్లాము మాట ౛వదాటనివాడు.

(p. 956) maradalu or మరందలు maradalu. [Tel.] n. A wife's younger sister; also a younger brother's wife, పెండ్లాముచెల్లెలు, తమ్ముని భార్య. 'నీమరందలీకొమ్మ.' T. i. v. 49.

(p. 975) māma māma. [from Skt. మామక.] n. A father-in-law. Also, a mother's brother, మేనమామ. The same title is bestowed equally on the brothers of a father-in-law, as పినమామగారు, పెద్దమామగారు. The phrase శకునిమామ denotes 'Uncle Sakuni,' i.e., an evil counsellor. Sakuni was the maternal uncle of Duryōdhana. మామమామ an epithet of Vishnu, as he married Lakshmi the daughter of the Sea (సముద్రుడు) whose wife (Ganges) is related to him as a daughter, లక్ష్మీదేవిని పెండ్లాడినందున తనకు మామయైన సముద్రునికి పెండ్లామగు గంగాదేవి తనకు కూతురువరుస అగుటచేత విష్ణువు సముద్రునికి మామ అయ్యెను.

A wife, పెండ్లాము. A female elephant, ఆడుఏనుగు A barren cow, గొడ్డుటావు. వశంవదము vaṣam-vadamu. adj. Submissive, obedient. విధేయుడైన. వశంవదుడు vaṣam-vaduḍu. n. One who talks submissively, one who is submissive, విధేయుడు, లోకువయగునట్లు మాటలాడువాడు. వశత్వము vaṣatvamu. n. Obedience, submissiveness. M. XVI. i. 226. కాలవశత్వంబున by the course of time. వశపరచుకొను vasa-paratsu-konu. v. n. To take possession of, to take under one's control. వశాత్ or వశాతుగా vaṣāt. adv. Through, b in consequence of, in subjection to, over-powered by. గ్రహచారవశాత్తుగా through his bad luck. దైవవశాత్ by the finger of God. వశి vaṣi. n.
