(p. 225) kaṇḍa kaṇḍa. [Tel.] n. A lump or piece of flesh or pulp. కండకొవ్వున కన్ను కానకున్నాడు he cannot see out of his eyes for pride. 'కండకన్నులు.' (A. vi. 23.) Eyes that are swollen. దుర్మాంసము పెరిగిన నేత్రములు. కండచక్కెర kaṇḍaṭsakkera. n. Sugar-candy. కండచుక్క kaṇḍa-ṭsukka. n. The liver కార్జెము. కండపట్టు kaṇḍa-paṭṭu. v. n. To grow fat, gather flesh.

(p. 303) kūna kūna. [Tel.] n. A young one, an infant. పిల్ల, బిడ్డ. The cub of an animal. కూనగుంట a small hole చిన్నపల్లము. కూనరాగము kūna-rāgamu n. Whimpering; squeaking. కూనరోగము kūna-rōgamu. n. Ophthalmia or country sore eyes. కండ్లలో పెరిగినకూనలు fleshy excrescencies in the eyes.

(p. 364) gāba gāba. [Tel.] n. Rushes, bulrushes. ఇక్కడ గాబ నిండా పెరిగియున్నది this place is overgrown with bulrushes.

(p. 376) gunaguna guna-guna. [Tel.] n. (Anuk: of running), tripping along, trotting along. ఆ చెట్టు ఆకులు గునగున పెరిగినవి the leaves have come out very delicately కోమలముగా. గుండ్రాతికి కాళ్లు వచ్చి గునగుననడిచెను the stones moved slowly. 'గునగున చీమలు గుడ్లెత్తుకొనిపార.' Velag. iii. 4.

(p. 378) guburu or గుమురు guburu. [Tel.] n. Thickness, as of trees, or foliage. సమూహము. adj. Thick, crowded. దట్టము. A cluster of trees. సమూహము. గుబురుగా పెరిగిన చెట్లు thick-leaved trees.

(p. 626) naṃzu , నం౛ుకొను or నం౛ుకొను nanḍzụ. [Tel.] v. n. To eat by small morsels, to nibble, to pick at to eat a little of any thing like pickle, &c., as a relish the principal food. శూరలోనగువ్యంజనములను కొద్ధి కొద్దిగా తినుట నంజుకొనేవస్తువు a relish or thing so eaten. 'తచ్ఛాకంబునంజుచుం దలంచు కొనియె.' A. iv. 243. టీ నంజుచుం=ఆస్వాదించుచు, అనగా నంచుకొనుచు. 'చందుపుటంబులనంజనిచ్చుచున్.' Parij. iv. 27. నం౛ or నం౛ు nanḍza. n. A tart. నం౛ుకొను వస్తువు. A pickle, ఉపదంశము, ఊరుగాయ. Smacking with the lips, చప్పరించడము. నం౛ు nandzu. n. Poison. విషము. Beri-beri, blood poisoning, నెత్తురుచచ్చి తెల్లపారుట. A lingering, indolent or dormant disease. నంజకురువు an indolent ulcer. నంజు చిగురు a gum boil. నం౛ుడు nanḍzuḍu. n. Flesh, flesh meat. మాంసము, ఎరచి. పిల్లకాయకు నంజుడు పెరిగినది the boy has outgrown his age or strength. నం౛ుడుతిండి nanḍzuḍu-tinḍi. n. A flesh-eater, a carnivorous being. మాంసముతినువాడు. A demon, రాక్షసుడు. నం౛ుపారు nanḍzu-pāru. v. n. To becomne pale, through the blood having deteriorated; to become anaemic, నెత్తురు చచ్చి తెల్లపారు. వాని శరీరము నంజుపారినది he became anaemic. నం౛ులు nanḍzulu. n. Pickles or any thing eaten as a relish with food. 'మోనినంజులం జవిగొనుచుం గ్రోలిసోలి.' Parij. ii. 60. her lips being sauce for the dish.

(p. 792) perugu , పెర్గు, పెరువు or పెర్వు perugu. [Tel.] v. n. To grow, increase, వర్ధిల్లు. ఎదుగు. విజృంభించు. To accumulate. To grow up, as a child. To bristle up, as a porcupine. To attempt, ప్రయత్నించు. గడ్డముపెరిగిన unshaven, wearing a beard. కొండలు నాలుగుపక్కల పెరిగియున్నవి the hills extended around it on all sides. కామక్రోధంబుల పెరుగనిచ్చె he gave the rein to his passions. Curds: thick curdled milk, దధి. పెరుగుడు peru-guḍu. n. Growth, increase, పెరుగుట, వృద్ధి. పెరుగు తోటకూర, పెరుగుకూర or పెరుగాకు perugu-tōṭa-kūra. n. A certain potherb, Amaranthus oleraceus. (Heyne.) పెరుగు సముద్రము perugu-samudramu. n. The sea of curds, one of the mythical occeans. An old person, ఏండ్లుచెల్లినవాడు, ఏండ్లుచెల్లినది. వాని తల పెరుగుబుడ్డివలె నెరసినది his head is as white as a bottle of curds.

(p. 839) pravṛddhamu pra-vriddhamu. [Skt.] adj. Full grown, expanded, diffused: spread abroad or dispersed. వృద్ధిపొందిన, అదొకగా పెరిగిన.

(p. 841) prasṛtamu pra-sṛitamu. [Skt.] adj. Stretched, lengthened. కొనసాగిపెరిగిన. Dispersed, extended, spread abroad. ప్రవృద్ధము. ప్రసృతి pra-sṛiti. n. The palm of the hand hollowed so as to hold liquids. పుడిసిలి, చేర.

(p. 872) balla balla. [Skt.] n. A bench, plank, board, table. A ship's deck. The disease called spleen. గుల్మము. వారు బల్లమీద కూర్చుండిరి they were sitting on a bench. రెండుబల్లలను ౛తచేయుము join the two planks together. అతనికడుపులో బల్లకట్టుకొన్నది or బల్లపెరిగినది he has a enlargement of the spleen. నీరుబల్ల the dropsy బల్లకట్టు balla-kaṭṭu. n. A large flat bottomed boat, a raft. వెడలుపైన అడుగుగల పడవ. బల్లకూర్పు balla-kūrpu. n. Wainscotting, planking, joiner's work. బల్లకూర్పుటిల్లు a house built of boards. బల్లకోల balla-kōla. n. A sort of spear of harpoon. పంట్రకోల. 'భ్రమితేంద్రియములను బలునిర్రె నేసి, భాషాప్రణీతమన్బలుబల్లకోల, నీషణత్రయమను నెలుగుకన్నొడిచి.' BD. v. 1443. బల్లగోలలవారు balla-gōlala-vāru. n. Lancers. 'వరుసనుబహుపుష్ఫ వాటికల్ నాటి, జాలవారిని దివ్వటీలను బల్లగోలలవారిని గుడిపూజరులను.' BD. iii. 1016.

(p. 905) bozja boḍzḍza. [Tel.] n. The belly, a paunch. కడుపు, పెద్దకడుపు. బొ౛్జ పెరిగిన or బొ౛్జపట్టిన corpulent, fat bellied. బొ౛్జమడుపులు folds of fat across the belly. బొ౛్జవాడు boḍzḍza-vāḍu. n. A corpulent man, పెద్ద కడుపువాడు.

(p. 1021) meṭṭa or మిట్ట meṭṭa. [Tel.] n. Rising ground, high lying land, uplands. A hill, a rock. ఉన్నతభూమి, మెరక, పర్వతము, దిబ్బ. The foot, పాదము. Dry land as opposed to మడి or మాగాణి land artificially irrigated. సారంగమెట్ట the hill at Rajahmundry on which sārangadhara was slain. 'ఇట్టలంబుగమీద బుట్టలు పెరిగిమెట్టల క్రియనున్న యిట్టిసన్మునులు.' BD. iii. 2141. మెట్టజీలుగు meṭṭa-jīlugu. n. A species of జీలుగు. (q. v.) మెట్టతామర meṭṭa-tāmara. n. The plant called Cassia alata, or Senna alata. Rox. ii. 349. మెట్టపంట a dry crop, a crop raised on land which is solely dependent on rain. మెట్టమడుగు a lake among hills, or on rising ground, దొన, కొండమడుగు. మెట్టమార్గము the upper road, మెరకమార్గము. A land route (in opposition to సముద్రమార్గము 'by water.') మెట్టనాలుపిట్ట or మెట్టవాల్పిట్ట meṭṭa-vālu-piṭṭa. n. A fowl, కోడి.

(p. 1145) vā vā. [Tel. Short for వాయి.] n. The mouth, the face. నోరు. 'నగముదుమ్మున బూడి చిగిరింతనామూయబెరిగిన నూతిపాతరబొరియల.' A. vi. 12. టీ నామూయ పెరిగినచిగిరింత, గడ్డిముఖమెల్లా మూయబెరిగిన. The edge of a sword, ఖఢ్గధారి. వాకట్టు vā-kaṭṭu. n. Gagging, వాగ్భంధనము. నోరుతెరవకుండా చేయడము. ఈతాఖట్టు వాకట్టు అయినది this mortgage is fore-closed. v. a. To gag. నోరెత్తకుండాచేయు.' కుక్కలవాకట్టినృపావరో ధగహభాగంబుల్ ప్రవేశించి.' HN. v. 158. వాకాటు vā-kāṭu. n. Wrangling, వాగ్వాదము. వాచచ్చిననాడు a dumb animal, i.e., a mere fool. నాచెరుచు vā-cheruṭsu. v. a. To spoil the taste of the mouth. వాచరచు vā-ṭsaraṭsu. v. a. Lit: to beat the mouth. To beg alms. (Indian beggars or complainants often slap their open mouth with the open hand in wailing to attract attention.) దీనవృత్తిని యాచించు, నోటిమీదమొత్తుకొను. v. n. To cry. మొరపెట్టు. 'నాత్రోవకడ్డంబు నిలిచివా చరువకనిలునిలుండనుచు.' BD. v. 1050. వాచరువక, మొత్తుకోకుండా. వాచవి vā-ṭsavi. n. Taste or flavour to the mouth. నోటి రుచి. 'భూవరకుమారునకు వాచవిగాసిద్ధవరుడు ద్రావించి.' Sār. D. 556. వాతెర vā-tera. (వా+తెర.) n. The lower lip; lit. the screen of the mouth. పెదవి, అధరోష్ఠము వాపాఠము vā-pāṭhamu. n. Recitation, repeating verses by rote. ముఖస్థముగా నుండడము. 'భరతశాస్త్రంబు వాపాఠంబు వీణె పరిపరివిధముల పలికింపజేర్చు.' నాపుచ్చు vā-puṭsṭsu. v. a. To open the mouth. నోరుతెరచు. To say or tell, చెప్పు. వాపోవు vā-pōvu. v. n. To cry out, to chatter or babble. (p. 1247) śākha ṣākha [Skt.] n. A branch, a bough. కొమ్మ. A sub-division of the Vedas. వేదభాగము. A division, a sect, తెగ. శాఖోపశాఖలుగా branch upon branch, i.e., abundantly. ఈ కలహము శాఖోపశాఖలుగా పెరిగినది this quarrel had many ramifications. యజుశ్శాఖ the Yajur Veda. యజుశ్శాఖాధ్యాయుడు a Brahmin who reads the Yajur Veda. శాఖానగరము ṣākhā-nagaramu. n. A suburb, పేట, ఉపనగరము. శాఖామృగము ṣākhā-mṛigamu. n. A monkey. కోతి. శాఖి ṣākhi. n. A tree. చెట్టు.
