(p. 89) aluku aluku. [Tel.] v. a. To smear the floor of a house or a mud wall, &c., with cowdung, &c. పేడవేసి శుద్ధిచేయు. (అలుకుచుట్టు a besom dipped in cowdung and water used in smearing a floor.) Also, to sow seed in a field prepared for the purpose (Vizag.) అలికించు alikinṭsu. (causal of అలుకు.) To have the floor smeared with cowdung, &c.

(p. 185) eḍu eḍu. [Tel.] An affix denoting quantity (like full in a cup-ful, a bagful) పరిమాణార్థకము. మూరెడు a cubit, as much as a cubit. బారెడు an ell-long. బుడ్డెడు a bottleful. To this word the affix ఏసి is sometimes added: గంపేడేసి by basketfuls, a basketful at a time. cఎడు or ఎడి an affix applied to participles, does not alter the sense, as పోవు or పోయెడు going.

'పార్థివుడాత్మభుజాభృతక్షమాతలమున గుట్టుకీడుబహుధాయరయించియడంచి.' A. iv. 296. గుట్టుపేడు the revelation of state secrets రాజమంత్రము బయలుపడుట. గుట్టుసాకిరి guṭṭu-sākiri. n. A witness that overhears secretly all the evidence against his party.

(p. 794) pēḍa or పేండ pēḍa. [Tel.] n. The dung of cattle. గోమయము. The dung of any animal. పేడగువ్వ pēḍa-guvva. n. A species of pigeon. పేడపురుగు pēḍa-purugu. n. A beetle. పేడనీళ్లు, పేణ్ణీళ్లు or పేన్నీళ్లు pēḍa-nīḷḷu. n. Water in which cowdung is dissolved.

(p. 794) pēḍi or పేడె pēḍi. [Tel.] n. A hermaphrodite, a eunuch, an impotent man. గడ్డము మీసాలులేనివాడు, నపుంసకుడు. పేడినవాడు pēḍi-vāḍu. n. A beardless man, a hermaphrodite. బృహన్నల. పేడెమూతి a face without a beard or moustaches, an effeminate face.

(p. 794) pēḍu or పేను pēḍu. [Tel.] v. a. To twist, entwine. పేను. తొడమీద బారము పేనుచుండగా while he was twisting the thread on the thigh.

(p. 794) pēḍu pēḍu. [Tel.] n. A piece, cutting chip, or splinter. చెక్కపేళ్లు billets of wood. ఈతపేళ్లపెట్టె a wicker work box. పేడెత్తు pēḍ-ettu. (పేడు+ఎత్తు.) v. n. To split, విచ్చు. To slide, తొలగు.

The Jasmine plant. మల్లెపూలు jasmine blossoms. ఆడవిమల్లె Jasminum augustifolium, a shrub which grows to the height of ten feet. ఒలాందామల్లె the tuberose jasmine. బొండుమల్లె or బొడ్డుమల్లె a variety with luxuriant flowers. నాగమల్లె a plant, Austicia grandiflorum, prickly pear. ఏటిమల్లె a water creeper, Persicaria mddraspatana: Rox. ii. 287. Other kinds are called కుంపటిమల్లె, పేడమల్లె, సూదిమల్లె. మళ్లెలగుది malle-lagudi. n. A name given to a beautiful dog. మల్లెపురుగు malle-purugu. n. A parasitic worm that is generated in the flesh of cattle. మల్లెలు mallelu. n. Jasmine flowers. Also, pustules produced in the pox. మల్లెతెవులు the disease called Cancer 'విసములయ్యెను బేర్చిన బిసములన్ని మల్లెలయ్యెను జిగిబొండుమల్లెలుంచ.' Ila. iii. 93. మల్లె malle. [Tel.] n.
