(p. 158) uddi uddi. [Tel.] n. A match, an equal, a rival. Rivalry, equality. A bank or dam with a channel on it, into which water is pumped to be conveyed to higher lands. The name of a certain tree. Bignonia spathacea. Rox. iii. 103. జత, సమానము. ఉద్దిచూపు to rival. ఉద్దులు equals సమానులు. ఉద్దులుద్దులుగా పోరాడి fighting hand to hand. ఉద్ది uddi. adj. Paired, couple, side by side. ఉద్దించు uddinṭsu. v. a. To pair, match, couple. జతపరచు, పోలు, ఉద్దికాడు uddikāḍu. n. A match, an equal. A friend ౛తకాడు, చెలికాడు.

(p. 443) calamu ṭsalamu. [Tel.] n. Spitefulness, malice, ill-will. మాత్సర్యము. Insolence, obstinacy. Rudeness, fury, రోషము, హటము, మోడి. చలముకొను, చలపట్టు or చలపొడుచు to entertain spite. ఇది చలమో ఫలమో (a proverb) did you do this with an object or through mere spite? చలపకారము same as చలము. చలపాది, చలవకారి or చలమరి ṭsalapādi. n. A spiteful or illtempered man. మాత్సర్యశీలుడు. చలపాదితనము ṭsalapādi-tanamu. n. Spite, grudge, crossness. చలపో రు ṭsala-pōru. (చలము+పోరు) v. n. To wreak a grudge, to fight inveterately చలముపట్టు పోరాడు.

(p. 445) callu tsaliu. [Tel.] v. a. To sprinkle, to scatter. To water or irrigate, to sow. Also (metaphorically,) of a smile spreading over the face. కూటిలో మన్నుచల్లడము to throw earth in one's food, i.e., to take away one's bread, to ruin one. ఇంటిమీద నిప్పులుచల్లిరి they scattered fire on the house. మొక్కచల్లు to transplant corn. తోటకు నీళ్లు చల్లినారు they pumped water into the garden. ధూళిచల్లి sprinkling dust. చల్లుపోరాడు or చల్లులాడు tsallu-pōrāḍu. v. n. To fling water or dust at each other. R. I. 211. 186.

(p. 720) parispandamu pari-spardha. [Skt.] n. Contention. పరిస్పర్ధాళువు pari-spardhāluvu. adj. Contentious. పోరాడే స్వభావముగల.

(p. 804) poṭṭu poṭṭu. [Tel.] n. Husk, bran. ఉముక. The scales of fish. Vēma. 1364. పొట్టు దాన్యము grain that has a coat or husk, as వడ్లు, అరిగలు, కొర్రలు, చామల్ను వరిగెలు, &c. పొట్టుకర్ర an empty sprout in a ear of corn. గట్టివిడిచిపెట్టి పొట్టుకు పోరాడెదవా will you give up the real for the false? మీదితోలు పొట్టుపొట్టుగా రాలిపోయినది the skin peeled off in scales. పొట్టుపొరలగు poṭṭu-poral-agu. v. n. To be troubled, harassed or tormented. పీడితమగు. 'అప్పాపాత్ముండెట్లునుం జక్కంబడక తనచలంబుతోన పొట్టపొరలయ్యె కయ్యంబు పొడుచు వాడుగాని.' M. V. iv. 88.

(p. 820) pōru pōru. [Tel.] v. n. To fight, contend, struggle. కలహించు, యుద్ధము చేయు. పోరి సాధించె he mastered it with difficulty. 'దర్పముమీరబోరు మదదంతులపోల్కి.' N. ix. 191. n. A fight, combat, struggle, quarrel; teasing, troubling, insistence. ఇంటిలోనిపోరు family jars or brawls. ఆ పిల్ల పోరుపెట్టుచున్నది the child is giving a lot of trouble. పిచ్చికపోరు the uproar that sparrows make. పోరుట pōruṭa. n. Fighting. పోరుదిండి pōru-dinḍi. n. A quarrelsome person, an epithet applied to Nārada, నారదుడు. పోరుపెట్టు pōru-peṭṭu. v. n. To tease, to plague, తొందరపెట్టు. To cry aloud, as a child. పోరాడు or పోరితమాడు pōr-āḍu. v. n. To fight, grapple, contend, struggle. కలహించు, యుద్ధముచేయు. పోరాట or పోరాటము pōr-āta. n. A combat, a fight, a dispute, కలహము, యుద్ధము. పోరించు pōrinṭsu. v. n. To breed a quarrel, to incite to quarrel. జగడానకు ఉసికొల్పు. 'నీపోటువాటుననిపుడిట్లుమమ్ము, పోరించితివిజంత్రబొమ్మనాయక్క.' HD. ii. 1194. పోరితము pōritamu. (పోరు+ఇతము.) n. War, a battle, a fight. యుద్ధము, పోరాటము. A quarrel, కలహము. Misunderstanding, స్పర్ధ.

A squabble, wrangle, plague, scrape. పీకులాట, రచ్చ, కలకలము, పోరు ఏవేళ యిదేవానిరంపు this is his constant theme. ఏవేళను దీనిరంపేరంపు she has an endless tongue, she is a constant plague. రంపిల్లు or రంపిలు rampillu. v. n. To contend. వాపోవు, పోరాడు. 'సీ తెగిన సోకుడుమూక మగిడి నాబలువిద్దె పెంపున బ్రదికిరంపిల్లుచుండ.' Yayati. iii. 107. To spread, extend, వ్యాపించు. To increase. వర్ధిల్లు, అతిశయించు, విజృంభించు. To chatter, prattle, make an uproar.

(p. 1369) spardha spardha. [Skt.] n. Emulation, jealousy, envy, vying, competition, rivalry.పోటి, వీరపత్రివీరవాదము, సంఘర్షణ. పరస్పరస్పర్ధలు mutual emulations. స్పర్థాళువు spardhā-ḷuvu. n. A competitor, a rival. స్పర్థ గలవాడు. స్పర్థి spardhi. adj. Envious, emulous. పోరాడే, వాదించే.
