Friendship, partnership, holding in common. స్నేహము, సహవాసము, విశ్వాసము, ఉమ్మడి, అవిభక్తిత. పోరునష్టి, పొత్తులాభము (proverb) quarrelling is a loss, friendship is a gain. పొత్తునగుడుచు to eat together as messmates, బిగిసిగాతిను. వీధులు అందరికిపొత్తు the streets are free or common to all men. ఆ సరుకులు పొత్తున కొన్నారు they bought the goods between them, or as common stock. ఆ పని పొత్తులుపోక పడవేసిపెట్టినారు the work is left undone because they could not settle which of them should do it, ఆ పని నీదంటే నీదని పడవేసిపెట్టినారు. 'నృపుపొత్తుబాముపొత్తుంగపటుండగు మిత్రుపొత్తుగడుసరిపొత్తుం, విపరీత భార్య పొత్తుం నెపమిది నిడువంగవలయు.' Sumati. 129. 'ఇట్టి అవమానపుపొత్తు మనంగ వచ్చునే.' M. IV. iii. 33. పొత్తులవాడు he in whom both parties have an equal right or interest. ఇద్దరికి సమమైనవాడు. 'ఏనుపొత్తులవాడనై యిరువురకును.' ib. XII. v. 257. adj. Friendly, united, associated. స్నేహితము, సంగతము. పొత్తుకాడు pottu-kāḍu. n. A friend, స్నేహితుడు. పొత్తుకత్తె pottu-katte. n. A female friend. స్నేహితురాలు. పొత్తుగుడుచు pottu-guḍuṭsu. v. n. To avail or come to good. పనికివచ్చు.' సత్యములు పొత్తుగుడుచునా సున్నుతాంగి భళిర సత్యములానలైనచ్చునీకు.' Ila. iv. 21. టీ సత్యములు పొత్తుగుడుచునా, బాసలు కలిసివచ్చునా. పొత్తుగుడుపు pottu-guḍupu. n. Eating together as messmates. పంజ్క్తిభోజనము. పొత్తుచేయు pottu-chēyu. v. n. To make friends with, to cultivate friendship, to associate with, స్నేహము చేయు. పొత్తువు pottuvu. n. An epithet of Sarasvati, సరస్వతి.

A fight, combat, struggle, quarrel; teasing, troubling, insistence. ఇంటిలోనిపోరు family jars or brawls. ఆ పిల్ల పోరుపెట్టుచున్నది the child is giving a lot of trouble. పిచ్చికపోరు the uproar that sparrows make. పోరుట pōruṭa. n. Fighting. పోరుదిండి pōru-dinḍi. n. A quarrelsome person, an epithet applied to Nārada, నారదుడు. పోరుపెట్టు pōru-peṭṭu. v. n. To tease, to plague, తొందరపెట్టు. To cry aloud, as a child. పోరాడు or పోరితమాడు pōr-āḍu. v. n. To fight, grapple, contend, struggle. కలహించు, యుద్ధముచేయు. పోరాట or పోరాటము pōr-āta. n. A combat, a fight, a dispute, కలహము, యుద్ధము. పోరించు pōrinṭsu. v. n. To breed a quarrel, to incite to quarrel. జగడానకు ఉసికొల్పు. 'నీపోటువాటుననిపుడిట్లుమమ్ము, పోరించితివిజంత్రబొమ్మనాయక్క.' HD. ii. 1194. పోరితము pōritamu. (పోరు+ఇతము.) n. War, a battle, a fight. యుద్ధము, పోరాటము. A quarrel, కలహము. Misunderstanding, స్పర్ధ.

(p. 1032) mai or మయి mai. [Tel.] n. The body. శరీరము. Manner, విధము. A side, పార్శ్వము. A time, తడవ. 'కుత్తుకగుత్తుకజుట్టి పోరుచిల్వల క్రియగానరానిగతులన్ మైమైబెనుచున్ జనించు.' Swa. iii. 83. మైగాపు a body guard. మైదీగ a slender figure. ఇరుమైల on both sides. 'తద్దాసరియడువుం బదహతులంగపోణి పోటులనిరుమైలంబొడుచుచు బెనగుచు బోవంబట్టి నటంబుజేర్చివాడిట్లనియెన్.' A. vi. 28. A corporeal being, a living creature, ప్రాణి, శరీరి. మైపూత mai-pūta. n. The act of smearing the body with anything, such as sandal paste, &c, అంగరాగము. మైపోక mai-pōka. n. Lightness, తేలిక. మైమరుపు or మయిమరపు mai-marapu. n. Forgetfulness of oneself, ecstasy, a trance. పారవశ్యము. మైమరువు or మయిమరువు mai-maruvu. [from మరుగు.] n. (p. 1061) rampe or రంపియ rampe. [Tel.] n. A cobbler's knife for cutting leather. చర్మకార సాధనము. తోలునుకోసేకత్తి. రంపెలాడి rampel-āḍi. (రంపెలు + ఆడి.) n. A slut, vixen, termagant. రాక్షసకృత్యముగలస్త్రీ, పోరుపెట్టేది. 'సీ చించివైచుటెకాని చీరలిచ్చినగటీరమునగై సేయదా రంపెలాడి.' P. iii. 190.

(p. 1107) lē lē. [Tel.] The base of the negative forms లేక, లేని, లేదు, &c. లేక lēka. past participle of లేదు. Not being, not being present, without, wanting. అతడు అక్కడ లేకపోవుటవల్ల by his not being there. వానికి రూకలు లేకపోవుటవల్ల by being in want of money. దాన్ని అణిచేవారులేక యిట్లు విడబడి తిరిగినది she played these pranks as there was no one to check her. కూటికిలేక being in want of food. When added to the infinitive, it means Unable. రాలేక unable to come. దానిని చూడలేక unable to look at it, unable to bear the sight of it. లేకుండ or లేకుండా lēk-unḍā. is used in much the same way as లేక; e.g. అతడు లేకుండ నావల్లకాదు I cannot do it without him లేకుండాచేయు lēk-unḍā-chēyu. v. a. To do away, to get rid of, to turn out. నివృత్తిచేయు. వారిని ఆ యింటిలోలేకుండా చేయుము turn them out of the house. అది వాడు ఇవ్వనక్కరలేకుండా చేస్తిని I relieved him from the necessity of giving it. లేకుండు lēk-unḍu. v. n. To be absent, to be wanting. లేడు lēḍu. He is not; he is not present. ఇంటిలోలేడు he is not in the house. చేయలేడు he cannot do it. వీక్షంపగలేడయ్యె. he could not behold it. లేదా lēdā. It it not? or, or else. అది అక్కడ లేదా is it not there? లేదు lēdu. It is not. అది అక్కడ లేదు. it is not there. లేనట్టు lēn-aṭṭu. As if it is not అతడు లేనట్టున్నది it appears he is not there. అతడు లేనట్టు తెలిసి knowing that he was not there. లేని lēni. adj. Devoid of. తెలివిలేనివాడు he who is devoid of sense. వాడు నోరులేనివాడు he is a dumb creature, a mere fool. తప్పులేని faultless. దోవలేని అడవి a pathless forest. వెలలేనిమాణిక్యము a priceless gem. లేనిపోనిపని nonsense, a fool's errand. లేనిపోనిసౌఖ్యములు vain deluding joys. లేనిమాటలు slanders, falsehoods. లేనిపోనిసాకు a false pretence. పోరులేని పోరుపుట్టె నీప్రొద్దు a dispute arose without cause. 'అదియుగాక రాజ్యమును మహాభూతంబు సోకినప్పు డెట్టిసుజనులకును లేనిచీకుదనములేనిమూగతనము, లేని చెవుడు గొంతయైనకలదు.' K. P. v. 248. లేనివారు the absent; the poor. లేమి lēmi. n. Nullity, not being, absence, want, poverty. కలుగమి, ఉండమి, దారిద్య్రము. 'జనకుడు లేమికింగడువిషాదము నొందె.' M. X. ii. 17. ధనములేమి want of wealth. కలిమిలేములు gains and losses, riches and poverty. లేమిడి lēmiḍi. n. Poverty, want. దారిద్య్రము. లేరు lēru. v. 3rd. pers. plu. They are not. M. V. i. 342. వారు లేరు they are not here. not living. లేవు lēvu. v. (neuter.) They are not.

(p. 1151) vādamu vādamu. [Skt. from వద్ to speak.] n. A dispute, discussion, contention. మాటలపూర్వకమైన కలహము, వాగ్వాదము, తగవు. Alchemy, రసవాదము. వాదభ్రష్టోవైద్యశ్రేష్ఠః he who fails in alchemy becomes an excellent doctor. 'బధిరుబలె దరిద్రునిగతివాదిపగిదిగనకకారుచాడ్పున.' P. Pref. 15. టీ వాదిపగిది, రసవాదివలెను. వాదించు, వాదడుచు or వాదాడు vādinṭsu. v. a. To argue, debate, dispute, discuss. కలహముచేయు, జగడమాడు, తర్కించు. వాది vādi. n. A speaker. One who argues, వాదించువాడు. A plaintiff or complainant. వ్యాజ్యము తెచ్చినవాడు, తగవునకుపోయినవాడు. ప్రతివాది a defendant. కార్యవాది one who speaks or argues the point alone. 'కార్యవాదికేల కడుచలంబు.' Vēma. iii. 96. వాదు vādu. (from Skt. వాదము.) n. A dispute, contention, fighting. కలహము, యుద్ధము. 'స్త్రీల యెడవాదులాడకుము.' Sumati. i. 'వలదన్నబోవుదునెవాదుకుదీయక.' Ila. iv. 72. వాదుడుగుట, అనగా జగడముమానుకొనుట. 'మునుగజాస్యునితోవాదుడుగకయొనర్చిన పిమ్మట.' S. iii. 412. వాదుచేయు or వాదులాడు vādu-chēyu. v. n. To dispute, to contend. వివాడమాడు, పోరుచేయు.
