(p. 162) upama upama. [Skt.] n. A resemblance, a simile. Also, skill నేర్పు. ఉపమరి upamari. adj. Clever, ready at expedients. ఉపమానము upamānamu. n. A comparison, simile. The object to which a thing is compared. ఉపమించు upa-minṭsu. v. a. To compare. పోల్చు. ఉపమేయము upa-mēyamu. n. The object which is compared to another. The antitype or thing meant in a parable or comparison. ఇక్కడ ఇది ఉపమానము, దీనిని పట్టి ఉపమేయమును గ్రహింపవలసినది here we must understand the thing meant from the figure the poet uses.

A fight, combat, struggle, quarrel; teasing, troubling, insistence. ఇంటిలోనిపోరు family jars or brawls. ఆ పిల్ల పోరుపెట్టుచున్నది the child is giving a lot of trouble. పిచ్చికపోరు the uproar that sparrows make. పోరుట pōruṭa. n. Fighting. పోరుదిండి pōru-dinḍi. n. A quarrelsome person, an epithet applied to Nārada, నారదుడు. పోరుపెట్టు pōru-peṭṭu. v. n. To tease, to plague, తొందరపెట్టు. To cry aloud, as a child. పోరాడు or పోరితమాడు pōr-āḍu. v. n. To fight, grapple, contend, struggle. కలహించు, యుద్ధముచేయు. పోరాట or పోరాటము pōr-āta. n. A combat, a fight, a dispute, కలహము, యుద్ధము. పోరించు pōrinṭsu. v. n. To breed a quarrel, to incite to quarrel. జగడానకు ఉసికొల్పు. 'నీపోటువాటుననిపుడిట్లుమమ్ము, పోరించితివిజంత్రబొమ్మనాయక్క.' (p. 820) pōlaka , పోలంక, పోల్క, పోలుక, పోలుగ or పోలువ pōlaka. [Tel.] n. A Sand Grouse, Pterochurus exnotus, (F.B.I.) జాంపోల్క or జాముపోలంక, పెద్ద పోలక, సందపోలక or చిన్నపోలక are species. 'నేలనెమళ్లుపోలుగులుకారుకోళ్లు.' Rasica. i. 49. 'సీ 'పట్టుజీనువకొంగ పాటేరుపిచ్చికపోలుకపిక్కిలి మీలమ్రుచ్చు.' H. iii. 14.

(p. 821) pōlu pōlu. [Tel.] v. n. To be fit or agreeable. ఒప్పు, తగియుండు. To be proper, యుక్తమగు. To be possible, శక్యమగు. This word is added to infinitives. చేయబోలునె can it be done? The neg. is పోలదు; thus, అట్లా చేయపోలదు or తగదు it is not proper to do so. ఉండబోలును perhaps they are there, ఉన్నవేమో. 'తెగువయదేవేంద్రపదవియనదగు బుద్ధిజనింపబోలుతరుణీనీకున్.' H. i. 140. v. a. To resemble, to be like, సరిపోలు. n. Resemblance, similarity, సామ్యము. పోలుపొందులేకుండా మాట్లాడు or తలా తోకలేకుండా మాట్లాడు to talk without rhyme or reason. పోలె pōle. adv. Like. రామునిపోలె like Rama. పోలమి pōl-ami. n. Dissimilarity, unlikeness. పోలించు, పోలుచు or పోల్చు pōlinṭsu. v. a. To compare, or liken. పోలజేయు. పోలిక, పోలికి or పోల్కి pōlika. n. Resemblance, likeness.

One who has elephantiasis. ఏనుగుకాలివాడు. బూరగడ్డి or పిచ్చికబూరగడ్డి būra-gaḍḍi. n. A herb called Ambrosinia unilocularis. Rox. iii. 493. బూరడు būraḍu. n.
