A Sanskrit particle, prefixed to words of that language, and implying Opposition or substitution, (instead of, in lieu of, opposed to,) order, distribution, (severally, each by each.) direction, designation, (toward, upon.) possession or inclusion in (as a part, or portion.) exchange, return, (again, back again.) ప్రతివేదమ each Veda. ప్రతిదినము every day. ప్రతిసంవత్సరము each year. ప్రత్యేకము one by one. ప్రతికక్షి the opposite party. ప్రతివాది a defendant. adj. Equal, సమానము, మారు. ప్రతి. n. The other. A match, an equivalent or substitute. A copy, as of a letter. A bit, section, spot of ground. One twelfth of a గుంట, one part or length of a wall. ప్రతిలేని matchless, unrivalled. మరియొక. ప్రతిలో ఇట్లు వ్రాయబడియున్నది it is thus written in another manuscript or copy.

(p. 829) prativādi prati-vādi. [Skt.] n. A respondent or defendant. ప్రతికక్షిగానుండువాడు. ప్రతివాదించు prati-vādinṭsu. v. a. To defend in argument, to reply to charges. ప్రతికక్షియై మాట్లాడు, ఎదురాడు.

(p. 998) muccilikā or ముచ్చిలిక muchchilikā. [H.] n. An agreement in writing, a deed. వాదిప్రతివాదులు మధ్యస్థులకు వ్రాసియిచ్చు ఒడంబడిక, కాపులు నేలగలవారికి వ్రాసియిచ్చెడి ఒడంబడిక.

(p. 1151) vādamu vādamu. [Skt. from వద్ to speak.] n. A dispute, discussion, contention. మాటలపూర్వకమైన కలహము, వాగ్వాదము, తగవు. Alchemy, రసవాదము. వాదభ్రష్టోవైద్యశ్రేష్ఠః he who fails in alchemy becomes an excellent doctor. 'బధిరుబలె దరిద్రునిగతివాదిపగిదిగనకకారుచాడ్పున.' P.
