(p. 15) andubaḍi andubaḍi. [Tel.] n. Nearness. Getting, obtaining. ప్రాప్తము. వాడికి ఆ రూకలు యింకా అందుబడి కాలేదు he has not yet got the money. అది అందుబడి అయిన తరువాత after it was received or came to hand.

(p. 46) adhigatamu adhi-gatamu. [Skt.] adj. Known, found, acquired, obtained, gone through or over, perused, read, studied, అవగతమైన, ప్రాప్తమైన, చదువబడిన.

(p. 66) aprāptavyavahāruḍu a-prāpta-vyavahā-ruḍu. [Skt.] n. A minor in law; one who is under age. వ్యవహారదశరానివాడు.

(p. 66) aprāpyamu a-prāpyamu. [Skt.] adj. That which is unattainable పొందశక్యముకానిది.

(p. 67) abbu abbu. [Tel.] v. n. To come into one's enjoyment, possession, or reach; be obtained or gained. చిక్కు, దొరుకు, లభించు. ప్రాప్తించు. ఇది వీనికి అబ్బేసొమ్ము కాదు the luck is too good to last; that is, he is not worthy of such good fortune, and it will not stick by him. దీన్ని వానికి అబ్బనియ్యరు they will prevent his getting it.

(p. 71) abhiṣēkamu abhi-shēkamu. [Skt.] n. Installation by anointing, initiation, royal unction, bathing, anointing, inauguration. స్నానము, మునక, పట్టముకట్టడము. దేవునికి అభిషేకము అయిన తరువాత after the idol was bathed. తైలాభిషేకము anointing with oil. చూర్ణాభిషేకము a particular rite of pouring turmeric powder over the head of an idol on the sixth day of the annual feast called బ్రహ్మోత్సవము. పట్టాభిషేకము coronation of a king. పట్టాభిషేకము చేయు to crown a king. రాజు ఆ కవికి స్వర్ణాభిషేకము చేసినాడు the prince showered bounties upon the poet. అన్నాభిషేకము చేయు to pour boiled rice over an image. అభిషేకించు v. t. To bathe, anoint. తల అంటు, మునిగించు. అభిషిక్తము abhi-shitkamu. [Skt.] adj. Installed by anointing, bathed, anointed. పట్టము కట్టబడిన, స్నానము చేయింపబడిన. అభిషిక్తుడు. n. He who is inagurated or installed, he who is bathed or anointed. పదప్రాప్తుడు, పట్టము కట్టబడినవాడు, స్నాతుడు. అభిషేచనము abhi-shēchanamu. [Skt.] n. Sprinkling, inauguration.

(p. 87) alabhyamu a-labhyamu. [Skt. from లభించు] adj. Unobtained; unobtainable; unattainable. Unexpected, casual. పొందబడని, అకస్మికమైన. అలభ్యయోగము unexpected good fortune. ఇది అలభ్యయోగముగా ప్రాప్తమాయెను this happened unexpectedly.

(p. 100) aṣṭa ashṭa [Skt. cf. Eng. 'Eight,' Lat. Octo.] adj. Eight.--అష్టకష్టములు The eight unpleasant circumstances liable to occur in the course of life. [Viz. దేశాంతర గమనము foreign travel, భార్యావియోగము separation from one's wife. కష్టకాలములో ప్రియబంధుదర్శనము friends and relations arriving in the time of trouble, ఎంగిలితినడము eating the leavings of others, తన, శత్రువులతో స్నేహము చేయడము courting one's enemies, పరాన్నమునకు కాచియుండడము looking for food from strangers, సభలో అప్రతిష్ఠవచ్చుట being ignorant in an assembly of wise men, దరిద్రమనుభవించడము suffering poverty.] అష్టకోణి an octagon, అష్టదిక్కులు the eight points of the compass.--అష్టదిక్పాలకులు the regents of the eight points of the compass, viz. Indra of the East, Agni of the South-east, Yama of the South, Nairriti of the South-west, Varuṇa of the West, Marut of the North-west, Kubēra of the North, and Iṣana of the South-east.--అష్టదిగ్గజములు the elephants supporting the eight corners of the earth-అష్టనగములు the eight serpents supporting the eight angles or points of the world. Their names are as follow: వాసుకి, అనంతుడు, తక్షకుడు, శంఖపాలుడు, కుళికుడు, పద్ముడు, మహాపద్ముడు, కార్కోటకుడు. అష్టవదులు a certain set of songs of eight lines in length.-అష్టపాత్రములు the eight vessels used in a sacrifice.--అష్టభాగ్యములు the eight requisites to the regal state; as రాజ్యము territory, భండారము wealth, సేన్యము an army, ఏనుగులు elephants, గుర్రములు horses, ఛత్రము an umbrella, చామరము a fly fan or whisk, ఆందోళిక a palanquin.--అష్టభోగములు the eight sources of pleasure, viz., ఇల్లు house, పరుపు bed,వస్త్రము raiment, అభరణము jewels, స్త్రీలు women, పుష్పము, flowers, గంధము perfume, తాంబూలము areca nuts and betel-leaves.--అష్టమదములు eight kinds of pride, viz., అన్నమదము luxury in food, అర్థమదము pride of wealth, స్త్రీమదము pride of lust, విద్యామదము pride of learning, కులమదము, pride of rank and family, రూపమదము pride of beauty, ఉద్యోగమదము pride of station, యౌవనమదము pride of youth.-- అష్టస్వామ్యములు the eight respects in which an absolute conveyance is made, viz., విక్రయ, దాన, వినిమయ, జల, తరు, పాషాణ, విధి, నిక్షేపములు -- అష్టాంగములు See under అంగము. సాష్టాంగదండము prostration in worship. -అష్టాపదము an eight legged dragon: a spider. అష్టావధానము See under అవధానము. అష్టైశ్వర్యములు complete comfort, every blessing, also eight attributes, viz., అణిమ, మహిమ, గరిమ, లఘిమ, ప్రాప్తి, ప్రాకామ్యము, ఈశత్వము, వశిత్వము.

(p. 129) āsarā or ఆస్రా or ఆసాను āsarā. [H. from Skt. ఆశ్రయము] .n. Shelter, support, protection, patronage. ప్రాపు, ఆదరువు, ఆధారము. ఆ ఊరికి నీళ్ల ఆసరాలేదు the village has no resources for watering the lands.

(p. 129) āsādiñcu āsādinṭsu. [Skt.] v. i. To obtain. పొందు, ప్రాపించు.

(p. 178) ṛṇamu ṛiṇamu. [Skt.] n. Debt, obligation. A claim, a title or lien. ఇంతకున్ను ఇక్కడి నీళ్ల ఋణము ఎన్ని రోజులు ప్రాప్తి ఉన్నదో besides I know not how much longer it is my fate to dwell here. ఋణపడు ṛiṇa-paḍu. v. n. To get into debt. ఋణముచేయు ṛiṇamu-chēyu. v. a. To contract a debt, to borrow. ఋణముతీర్చు ṛiṇamu-tīrṭsu. To discharge a debt. ఋణత్రయము the three kinds of obligation, viz., దేవఋణము, ఋషిఋణము and పితృఋణము. ఋణవిముక్తుడు ṛiṇa-vimuktuḍu. n. One who is free from debt. ఋణస్థుడు. or ఋణి or ఋణికుడు ṛiṇasthuḍu. n. A debtor. ఋణార్ణము ṛiṇārṇamu. n. A debt contracted to pay off another debt. అప్పు తీర్చుటకై చేసిన అప్పు.

(p. 204) aiśvaryamu aiṣvaryamu. [Skt. from ఈశ్వర] n. Riches, wealth, prosperity. కలిమి, సంపద. అష్టైశ్వర్యములు the eight super-natural perfections or attributes of the deity as summed up in this verse. అణిమామహిమాచైవ గరిమాలఘిమాతథా ప్రాప్తిః ప్రాకామ్యమీశత్వం వశిత్వంచాష్టభూతయః. That which is 1, fine as an atom, 2, of prodigious vastness, 3, of great weight, 4, light as ehter, 5, omnipotent, 6, free, 7, supreme, and 8, under control. ఐశ్వర్యవంతుడు aiṣvarya-vantuḍu. adj. An opulent or prosperous man.

(p. 294) kuduru kuduru. [Tel.] v. n. To settle. స్థిరమగు. To recover (from illness) స్వస్థమగు. To be set, arranged, fixed, settled. To be got, obtained, found, come to hand. To fit or suit. అనుకూలమగు. To be introduced into an employ, to enter on it. To become firm, resolute. To succeed, prosper, flourish. కుదిరిన వ్రాత a settled handwriting అంతా బాగా కుదిరినది all is now right or settled. గణములు కుదరలేదు the metre is defective. ఆ పని వానికి కుదిరినది he obtained that employment. నాకు ఇల్లు కుదరలేదు. I cannot obtain lodgings. కుదురుపాటు kuduru-pāṭu. n. Settlement, arrangement, cure, remedy. కుదురుచు or కుదుర్చు or కుడిరించు kuduruṭsu. (causal of కుదురు.) v. n. To restore, to settle or arrange, to curl, to heal, to pacify, to calm, to fix or place. కుదురు kuduru. n. (G. కుదిటి Loc. కుదుట. Plu. కుదుళ్లు.) n. Settlement. Symmetry, gracefulness, beauty. Trimness, orderliness. అమరిక. Health, perfection. A family వంశము. One branch of a family. A garden bed. పాదు. A support or prop ప్రాపు. a ledge, or rim, preventing grain falling out of a mortar. A settle or ring of cord to prevent a pot from rolling over. చనుకుదురు a cancer in the breast. వాడు ఒక కుదిటివాడు he belongs to one branch of the family. ఒక్క కుదురైయున్నారు they live as one family. కుదురుకొను or కుదురుపడు kuduru-konu. v. n. To settle, to be settled. కదలకనిలుచు, నెలకొను, స్థిరపడు.

(p. 304) kūru kūru. [Tel.] v. n. To come on, as sleep, or thirst. కలుగు. To collect, as sand in a drain. చేకూరు to accrue or be gained, to happen (as fear) ప్రాప్తమగు, సంభవించు. v. a. To fill, to stuff. To load (a gun), to fill or collect. కూరువ or కూర్వ kūruva. n. The ribs of a ship or boat. Also in carpentry, a bent piece of wood. ఓడకూర్పునకువేసే వంకర కొయ్య.

(p. 559) toḍaru toḍaru. [Tel.] v. n. To happen. కలుగు. To undertake, attempt, పూను, యత్నించు. To desire, సక్తమగు. To be agitated, తొట్రుపడు. To follow, అనుసరించు, To oppose, ఎదిరించు. To obtain, ప్రాపించు. To resemble, అనుకరించు. 'క కురుబలము దొడరిగెలువగ, సురగణములకైననరిది.' M. VII. v. 6. 'క పాపంబు బుద్ధిపూర్వ వ్యాపారముగాగదొడరినప్పుడు మనుజుం డేపాటదానినెంతయు బాపికొనంజాలు సుజనబాంధవచెపుమా.' M. XII. iii. 321. 'తోకజంతువులను తొడరిగొంతులుకోసి, మేకపిండునెల్ల మెడలువిరిచి, కడమవాటినెల్ల కాల్చుకతిందురు.' Vēma. 319. 'కావింపంచెగట్టి కడుయోగినలెనుండి, వెలికిగోర్కులెల్ల విడిచిపెట్టి, తొడరితిరుగువాడు దొంగసన్నాసిరా.'
