(p. 220) ōṣadhi ōshadhi. [Skt.] n. An annual plant or herb, one that dies immediately after it seeds. ఫలించినతోడనే నశించుచెట్టు. A medicinal plant మందుచెట్టు. ఓషధీశుడు ōshadh-īṣuḍu. n. The lord or plants, i.e., the moon.

(p. 689) paṇḍu panḍu. [Tel.] v. n. To ripen, ఫలించు To be accomplished. To be produced (as salt from the ground) to effloresce, to crystallize n. A fruit, a berry. adj. Ripe, mature. వాని కాలము పండినది this is harvest time for him. పండకాగు to be red hot. ఆ యినుమును పండకాచినాడు he made the iron red hot. పంట panṭa. n. Ripening. పండుట. Cultivation. కృషి. Produce, a crop. పంటకాపు panṭa-kāpu. n. A husbandman. పంటకాపులు panṭa-kāpulu. n. Farmers. పంటచెరువు a tank for watering rice fields. కల్లుపంట దినములు the toddy season. పలపులపంట my beloved. 'రతనంపు పంటల రమణి నిర్వంక.' Vencatach Mah: iii. 203. పంటపొలము panṭa-polamu. n. A cultivated field. పండిన పొలము. పంటమన్ను panṭa-mannu. n. Plough, land, good soil. పంటవలతి, పంటచెలి, పంటపొలతి or పంటతొయ్యలి a poetical phrase for 'the earth. పంటవలంతివింటిదొర. n. Cupid, i.e., Lord of the earth born bow, i.e., the bow of sugar cane which grows from the earth: 'పంటవలంతివింటి దొరబారికి నోరువలేక.' T. iii. 3. పంటసాల panṭa-sāla. n. A granary, ఉగ్రాణము, కణజము. పండబారు panḍa-bāru. v. n. To mellow or begin to ripen. To grow pale, turn white. పండించు panḍinṭsu. v. a. To cause to ripen. పండజేయు. పండుకోతి an old monkey. పండుటాకు a ripened leaf. పండువెన్నెల lit: ripened moonlight: full moon light, the brilliancy of the full moon. ముసిలిపండు an old crone. (opposed to కాయ in the sense పిల్లకాయ) In shopkeeper's cant పండు means చింతపండు tamarind. There is a bird called వంగపండు. మామిడిపండు a ripe mango. పండు కప్ప or పండుచేప pandu-kappa. n. The perch or cock-up fish, of which there are many species. Russell No. 131. పండు మీనుతట్టము dried fish.

To bear fruit, to avail, turn to good, turn out well. ఫలపరచు phala-paraṭsu. v. a. To make fruitful, to realize, to turn to profit, to use. ఫలపూరము phala-pūramu. n. The citron. ఫలవంతము phala-vantamu. adj. Fruitful, as a tree, ఫండ్లు గల. ఫలరాజము phala-rājamu. n. A certain red fruit, Momordica monadelpha. ఫలాహారము phal-āhāramu. n. A refection, refreshments, a slight meal of parched corn, cakes, fruit, &c. ఫలించు phalinṭsu. v. n. To be fruitful, yield fruit, పండు. To be of advantage, profit, turn out well, to be accomplished, be fulfilled, నెరవేరు. ఫలితము phalitamu. adj. Ripened, fruitful, profitable, advantageous. నా యత్నము ఫలితముకాలేదు my endeavour came to no good. n. Profit, fruit. ఫలితార్థము phalit-ārṭhamu. n. The ultimate import, purport, result, or point of a passage, the tendency as distinguished from the literal sense. ఫలినము phalinamu. n. A fruit tree. విద్యమాన ఫలవద్వృక్షము. G. iii.146. ఫలినీ phalinī. n. A tree called ప్రయంగువు, తరిగొర్రచెట్టు. ఫలోదయము phal-ōdayamu. Success, enjoyment, gain, profit; heaven, paradise, joy, happiness. ఫలోన్మఖము phal-ōnmukhamu. adj. Fruitful, effective, efficacious. అది యిప్పుడు ఫలోన్ముఖముగానున్నది it is now coming to good.

(p. 1173) vittu vittu. [Tel.] v. a. To sow, విత్తుమొలవవేయు, చల్లు. 'జున్నులు గలయడవులలుమహిదున్న కవిత్తక ఫలించు. ' ఫలించు.' Vish. ii. 156. n. A seed; a testicle, విత్తనము, బీజము. విత్తనము vittanamu. n. A seed. విత్తు, బీజము. విత్తించు vittinṭsu. v. a. To cause to sow, to get to the sown. ఆ పొలమును విత్తించినాడు he caused the field to be sown.

To impregnate, గర్భాధానము చేయు, బీజావాపముచేయు. వెదావు ved-āvu. n. A cow that is in heat, ఫలపడడానకు ఆ యుత్తముగానుండే ఆవు, పొర్లుటకుతగియున్న ఆవు.
