(p. 32) aṭṭahāsamu aṭṭa-hāsamu. [Skt.] n. Violent, phrenzied laughter. Vehement action, exceeding effort or exertion. Toil, pains, laborious efforts. Pomp. 'అట్టహాసంబున నడరెడు తెరనూరు.' N. ix. 31. నా కూతురిని పంపితేనేగాని కూడదని అట్టహాసము చేస్తాడు he protests violently that his daughter shall go with him. రాజు బహు అట్టహాసముతో బయలుదేరినాడు the king set out with great pomp. అట్టహాసకాడు n. A pompous or ostentatious man.

(p. 186) ettu ettu. [Tel.] v. n. To rise పుట్టు. To occur, come about కలుగు. To start బయలుదేరు. To come on (as a disease.) వానికి అతిసారము ఎత్తినది dysentery came on. వానికి వెర్రియెత్తినది madness came on him; he became mad. నాకు ఆకలియెత్తినది I am hungry. గాలియెత్తినది the wind arose. నేను వాంతియెత్తితిని I vomited. ఎత్తించు ettinṭsu. [Causal of ఎత్తు] v. t. To lift. To cause to raise, erect, or build. ఎత్తికొను or ఎత్తుకొను etti-konu. v. i. To bear, to carry వహించు. To attempt యత్నించు, v. t. To rob అపహరించు. ఎత్తికోలు etti-kōlu. n. An endeavour, a beginning; striving, effort, intention, purpose. ఆరంభము, ప్రయత్నము, సంకల్పము. ఎత్తిపొడుచు etti-poḍuṭsu. v. t. To taunt, jeer, reproach నింద, ఎత్తిలి ettili. adv. Hard. గట్టిగా. ఎత్తివేయు etti-vēyu. v. t. To throw away, to strike out. కొట్టివేయు, తీసివేయు; to slight, to despise అలక్ష్యముచేయు.

(p. 548) teppa teppa. [Tel.] n. A raft or float, a cattamaran. కట్టుమ్రాను. వానితెప్ప మునిగినది his foot is sunk, i.e., he is totally ruined. తెప్ప బయలుదేరినట్టు ఉన్నది it is as if (his) raft has come to the surface, i.e., he has recovered his spirits. తెప్పలదేలు to be rife, to abound, rejoice, revel. ఓలలాడు. తెప్పలతేలగా or తెప్పతెప్పలుగ abundantly. T. ii. 34. అగ్గితెప్ప a flake of fire. తెప్పతిరునాళ్ల the raft feast, when the god is placed on a float and rowed over a pond or reservoir. తెప్పతెరలగ teppa-tearala-ga. adv. At pleasure, యథేచ్ఛముగా. At full speed. అతివేగముగా.

(p. 549) teralu or తెర్లు teralu. [Tel.] v. n. To move. To toss about. చలించు. To be routed. To set, or disappear. To come or go out or spread, as scent, బయలుదేరు, వ్యాపించు. To overflow, boil over, కాగిపొంగు. To be agitated. కలగు. To avoid తొలగు. To die, expire చచ్చు. తెరలుడు teraḷuḍu. n. The act of coming out. బయలుదేరుట. A journey ప్రయాణము. తెరలిక teralika. n. A crowd. గుంపు, సమూహము. తెరలగా tera-gā. adv. Loudly, openly, aloud. తెరలబడు terala-baḍu. v. n. To be at a loss: to hestitate. VP. vi. 225. తెరలబారు terala-bāru. v. n. To avoid. తొలగు. తెరలుచు, తెరల్చు or తెరలకొలుపు teraluṭsu. v. a. To scatter, or put to flight. విచ్చు. M. VIII. vi. 56. Jaim. viii. 40. To give forth (a scent.) To smell. To cause to go out of the way. తొలగించు.

(p. 572) trēṇu trēṇu. [Tel.] v. n. To come out. బయలుదేరు, వెడలివచ్చు. 'అతివ పుర్ణేందుభీతి తత్పద్మశాలద్రేణి.' A. v. 155. 'హత్తుకొని యొక్కకొందర నత్తెరువుం గట్టబనిచి యందరి క్రయదా దిత్తొకటియు గొని త్రేణిమరి ఉత్తరముత్తరమటంచు నొకప్రొద్దుకడన్.' A. vi. 96.

(p. 658) nirgatamu nir-gatamu. [Skt.] adj. That which has come out, gone out. బయలువెడలిన, నిర్గతి nir-gati. n. Helplessness, a hard lot. వానిగతి నిర్గతిగానున్నది he is in misery. నిర్గమము or నిర్గమనము nir-gamamu. n. The act of coming out. బయలుదేరడము. నిర్గమించు nir-gaminṭsu. v. n. To go out, to come out. వెడలబడు.

(p. 836) prayāṇamu pra-yāṇamu. [Skt.] n. A journey, departure. మీ ప్రయాణమెప్పుడు when do you set out? ప్రయాణమగు or ప్రయాణించు prayāṇam-agu. v. n. To set out or start on a journey, బయలుదేరు. ప్రయాణముచేయు to travel, to make a journey. ప్రయాణమగు. 'బంగారుపల్లకీ యెక్కి ప్రయాణించునెడ.' జై. viii.

(p. 838) praḷayamu pra-ḷayamu. [Skt. ప్ర+లయము.] n. Destruction. The final destruction of the world. కల్పాంతము. Danger, calamity, అపాయము. Death, మృత్యువు. ప్రళయకాలము an awful or protentous period. జలప్రళయము the Deluge. ప్రళయముగా pra-ḷayamu-gā. adv. In a flood, in a deluge. Prodigiously, hugely, grandly. ఇంతటిలో వానప్రళయముగా వచ్చినది the rain came in floods. రాజు ప్రళయముగా బయలుదేరినాడు the king set out very grandly. వానిపని బహుప్రళయముగానున్నది he lives in grand style, his business goes on thrivingly. ప్రళయముగా మాట్లాడుతాడు he talks pompously. ఏరు ప్రళయముగా పారుచున్నది the river is rushing furiously.

(p. 853) prōdyat prōdyat. [Skt. ప్ర+ఉద్యత్.] adj. Increased, born, produced. Endeavouring. వృద్ధిపొందే, పుట్టిన, బయలుదేరిన. 'ప్రొద్యత్ప్రతాపారణీ.' Swa. iv. 107. 'ఆరీతిన్ జనుదెంచి యాఘనుడు ప్రోద్యద్దాన ధారా ఝరీపూరంబుల్ సెలయేరులై.' T. v. 5.

(p. 867) bayalu , బయిలు or బైలు bayalu. [Tel.] n. The outside. An open place, open country, బహిఃప్రదేశము, చెట్లుచేమలులేని చోటు. The sky, ఆకాశము. adj. Empty, unoccupied, శూన్యము. బయలుతామర bayalu-tāmara. n. The land lotus, మెట్టతామర. బయలుదేరు or బయలువెడలు bayalu-dēru. v. n. To come out, to go out, to start, నిర్గమించు. To come to light, to be discovered. బయలుపడు, బయల్పడు, బయలుపోవు or బయలుమెరము bayalu-paḍu. v. n. To make its appearance, to become visible, ప్రకాశితమగు. (p. 902) bailu, bayilu or బయలు bailu. [Tel.] n. An open field, plain, area. మైదానము. The outside, the exterior. The sky, the expanse of heaven. బాహ్యము. 'పండిన చేలెల్ల బయలుగా మేసి.' (HD. i. 398.) they devoured the corn fields and reduced them to a bare plain. బయలాడుమాట a voice uttered (or heard) from heaven. 'ధారుణిబడిబయలు దన్నుచు నేడ్చు.' (BD. iii. 878.) the baby was kicking with its legs upwards. adj. Open, clear. బైలుదేరు, బయిలుదేరు, or బయలుదేరు bailu-dēru. v. n. To come forth, break out; to begin, start, set out; to come to light, result, appear, be discovered; to prove true or false. To be shed, or to burst forth as tears, తానును ఒక మగవాడుగా బైలుదేరినాడు he set out as if he was a big man. గడ్డబైలుదేరినది a boil rose. వెన్న బైలుదేరినప్పుడు కుండ పగిలినది when the butter was coming the churn burst. ఇల్లువిడిచి బైలుదేరగానే on leaving the house. ఆ ప్రాంతములలో దొంగలు బైలుదేరిరి thieves broke out in that neighbourhood. బైలుదేర్చు bailu-dērṭsu. v. a. To bring out, elicit, bring to light, exhibit. బైలుపడు or బైలగు bailu-paḍu. v. n. To fall out, come to light, be disclosed. ఆ మర్మము బైలుపడినది the secret came to light. బైలుపరచు, బయలుపరచు or బైలుపుచ్చు bailu-paraṭsu. v. a. To bring to light, to reveal. బైలువెళ్లు or బయలువెడలు bailu-vellu. v. n. To start. బైళ్లు or బయళ్లు baiḷḷu. n. plu. Plains. బైట or బయట baiṭa. adv. On the outside, on the plain. Out. బైటపడు or బయటపడు baiṭa-paḍu. v. n. To come out, come to light. To become public. బైటపెట్టు or బయటపెట్టు baiṭa-peṭṭu. v. a. To put forward, to reveal, బహిరంగముచేయు, వెల్లడిచేయు. బైటపోవు or బయటికిపోవు baiṭa-pōvu. v. n. To go out. To go to the necessary. బైటఉండు or బయటనుండు baiṭa-unḍu. v. n. To be outside: to be menstruous, (because excluded from the family.) బైటవేయు or బయటవేయు baiṭa-vēyu. v. a. To cast out. To bring to light, to let a secret out. దీన్ని బైటవేస్తే చూడు take care you don't let this be known. బైటి or బయటి baiṭi. adj. Outer, exterior; strange, foreign. బైటిఊళ్లు the circumjacent villages.

(p. 1210) vennu vennu. [Tel.] n. The back. వీపు. An ear of corn, వరిమొదలైనవాటి ఎన్ను. 'వెనుకచిక్కితిరోయని వెన్నుచరచి.' Lavan. 30. 'చెరకువెన్ను పుట్టిచెరచదాతీ పెల్ల.' Vēma. 17. వాడు నా వెన్నుదన్నుకొని పుట్టినవాడు he was born next after me. వరి వెన్నుతీసినది the crop of grain sprouted. వెన్నుకట్టె or వెన్నుగుదియ vennu-kaṭṭe. n. A back breaker: that is a cudgel. నడుమువిరగకొట్టే కర్ర, భంజకము. 'కుచ్చితవృత్తులకును వెన్నుగిదియ.' L. xv. 107. వెన్నాడు or వెన్నడు venn-āḍu. v. a. To follow closely, to pursue, వెంబడించు. 'ఇట్లు వెన్నాడియలసి కాదిదిమృగంబుమాయయోయేమొ.' R. v. 160. v. n. To toss about (supine) on the back. వీపున ఇటుఅటుకదలు. 'గుదిగొనివెన్నాడు కుసుమపుంజముతోడ.' (Ila. i. 10.) టీ వెన్నాడు. వీపునకదలుచుండే. వెన్నిచ్చు venn-iṭsṭsu. v. n. To retreat, run away. వెనుకదీయు. 'పగతురకు వెన్నియ్య పాటిగాదయ్య' Pal. 419. వెన్నదంతి vennu-danti. n. A kind of harrow. చోడకంకి జొన్నకంకి మొదలైనవి నూర్చునప్పుడు బయలుదేరు బూగరపోవుటకును నేముటకును సాధనమైన గొడ్డలివంటి నాలుగైదు పండ్లుగలమాను. వెన్నుదన్ను vennu-dannu. v. n. To stand behind, వెనుకనిలుచు. v. a. To follow, pursue, వెంబడించు. వెన్నుపట్టె, వెన్నుగాడి, వెన్నుబద్ద or వెన్నుమ్రాను vennu-paṭṭe. n. The roof tree, the chief beam or ridge of the roof. మొగటివాసము ఇంటినడికొప్పుమ్రాను. వెన్నుపట్టె vennu-paṭṭe. n. The spine or backbone, వీపు వడిమియెముక. వెన్నుపాము vennu-pāmu. n. The spinal marrow, కుండలి, వెన్నుఎముకలో నుండేమూలగ. వెననుపూస vennu-pūsa. n. The spine, వీపునడిమియెముక. One joint of the backbone. వెన్నెముకలోన ఒక గణువు. వెన్నెముక venn-emuka. n. (p. 1216) velupu Same as వెడలుపు (q. v.) వెలుపించు or వెలుపుచేయు velup-inṭsu. v. a. To widen, వెడలుపుచేయు. వెలుపు velupu. (from వెలుచు.) v. n. To issue, as a stream. నీరుబయలుదేరు. వేసవిదినములయందు కొద్దినీరు వెలుపును a little water flows from it in summer.
