(p. 320) kobbari or కొబ్బెర Kobbari. [Tel.] n. The kernel of the cocoanut. కొబ్బరిబెల్లము sugar made from cocoanut tree juice. కొబ్బరికాయ kobbari-kāya. n. A cocoanut. కొబ్బరిపువ్వు kobbari-puvvu. n. An excrescence inside a cocoanut which is kept too long. మొక్క మొలిచిన కొబ్బరికాయలోని పువ్వు. కొబ్బరిబొండము kobbari-bondamu. n. An unopened cocoanut.

(p. 489) ṭeṅkāya ṭenkāya. [Tel. తేనె+కాయ cf. (Tam.) తేంగాయ.] n. A cocoanut. కొబ్బరికాయ. నారికేళము. ఎళనీరుటెంకాయ a tender cocoanut full of water. టెంకాయచెట్టు తుమ్మెద ṭenkāya-cheṭṭu-tummeda. n. The cocoanut tree-borer. A kind of large beetle.

(p. 554) tēra tēra. n. Clearness. తేట. Want of any relationship or connection. సంబంధము లేమి. adj. or adv. Gratis, unpaid for సంబంధము లేని. Uselessly, వ్యర్థముగా. Without any trouble, easily, అనాయాసముగా. తేరకొంప a rent-free lodging. తేరకాడు a stranger, అన్యుడు; a temporary husband ఔచిత్య భర్త. An interloper: one who enjoys gratis. పైపై వచ్చినవాడు. తేరకత్తె a strange woman అన్యురాలు, a woman of loose character. తేరగుర్రము తంగేటిబరికె when you ride gratis, you use your cudgel well. తెరకు or తేరకుదేర tēraku. adv. Quite uselessly మిక్కిలి వ్యర్థముగా. Easily, అనాయాసముగా, తేర or తేరగా [from తెచ్చు.] used with various verbs, as చనుదేర, పుత్తేర. ఏగుదేర while coming, while going. (p. 708) pani pani. [Tel.] n. Work, a task. కర్మము. Business, employment, వ్యాపారము. Workmenship, శిల్పము. ఈ కట్టడమునందు మంచిపని చేసియున్నారు there is good workmanship in this building. An affair, act, matter. Service, utility, purpose, object, intention, design. ప్రయోజనము. An order, duty, నియోగము. పనిమీద ఉన్నాడు he is busy. మంచిపని very well, well, good. మంచిపనిచేసినావు you did well or right. అతని పనిచూస్తున్నాను I am engaged in his service: I am acting for him. అతనిపని తీర్చినారు they settled his business, or they killed him. ఇక్కడ నీకేమిపని what business have you here? This word is sometimes omitted in translating; as in నీపనిపట్టిస్తాను I will punish you. ఇంతపనికి నన్నేల వెంటబెట్టుకొనివచ్చినావు why have you brought me for such a trifle or pretence? పనికిమాలి (or) పనిచెడి కూర్చున్నాడు he is sitting idle. వారు వ్యాధిచేత పనిచెడిరి they became infirm through illness. వానితో విరోధము పనికిరాదు he will not stand quarrelling. దాన్ని సంపాదించడము ఎంతపని it is no great matter to get it. నాపని చెరిపినారు they spoiled my work. పనిచెరువుకథలు idle stories. పనికి వచ్చే useful. పనికివచ్చే పిల్లకాయ a promising boy. పనికిరాని or పనికిమాలి useless. అక్కడికి నీవు ఏపనిమీద పోయినావు useless. అక్కడికి నీవు ఏపనిమీద పోయినావు about what business did you go there? నీపనిని నీవు చూచుకొనుము mind your own business. అక్కడికి పోవలసినపనిలేదు there is no need of going there. ఇప్పట్లో వానిపని యిట్లు ఉన్నది he is now in this state. అట్లు చెప్ప పని లేదు there is no need of saying so. పనిగొను pani-gonu. v. a. To undertake a work, to engage in a business. పూనుకొను. To employ, నియోగించు. 'పనిగొనవుతెలియగ బరికించి చూచిన.' Vēma. పనితనము pani-ta-namu. n. Workmanship, elegance. పనితనముగల ఒక మంచము a handsome bed. పనితొడవులు pani-toḍarulu. n. Worked or embossed jewels. పనిపడు or పనివడు pani-paḍu. v. n. To busy oneself with. to engage in, పూనుకొను. To concern oneself with, అక్కరపడు. పనివడి or పనిపడి pani-paḍi. adv. Intentionally. కావలెనని, ప్రయత్నపూర్వకముగా. 'పరులను పనిపడి దూషించెనేని పాపము వచ్చున్.' V. P. iv. 249. పనివాటులు jobs, work. పనిముట్టు or పనిమటము pani-muṭṭu. n. An instrument, tool, impelement. కొరముట్టు, ఉపకరణము. 'పనిమటములుగొంచు పయనమైరండు.' Pal. 314. పనివంచు, పని పంచు or పనిగొను pani-vanṭsu. v. a. To command. నియోగించు. పనివాడు pani-vāḍu. n. A servant: a good workman. పనివిను pani-vinu. v. n. To obtain permission, to take leave. (p. 716) parika parika. [Tel.] n. A kind of bird. పక్షి విశేషము. See పరిగె పిట్ట. A kind of stone, ఒకవిధమైన రాయి. Also, a pattern or diagram drawn on the floor with lines of flour or coloured powder. ముగ్గులు. పరికలువేయు, అనగా ముగ్గులుపెట్టు. 'చ తిరుమల కంచి పుష్ఫగిరి తీర్థములం ౛ని కొంగుములఠ్లతో, నరములు దంపతుల్ వడయ వారక కాన్కలు వైచి యంతటన్, బరికలు దృష్టిదీపములలు పన్నిన గద్దెలు బెట్టి యేమిటన్, గరమగు పుత్రవాంచ కడ గానగలేక విచారభిన్నులై.' (p. 1332) siḍi siḍi. [Tel.] n. The cross beam of a picota or water lift. ఏతపుమ్రాను. 'క ఏతపుసిడిదావంగిన, బాతాళపునీరుదెచ్చు.' A hook or goad. A machine on which men were formerly suspended in the air by a hook passed through the sinews of the back and swung around in honor of the goddess పోలేరమ్మ. గంపసిడి a basket in which a devotee (instead of being hooked up) is seated and swung about. మ్రొక్కుచెల్లించుకొనువారు కొందరు వీపున తగిలించుకొని ఆడే గాలపుమాను. ఈ దేవతకు ప్రతిసంవత్సరమును మేకపోతు సిడి ఒకటియును నరసిడి ఒకటియును జరుపుచుందురు in honor of this goddess they swing a goat and a man every year. సిళ్లు or సిడులు silḷu n. An elephant goad, బరికోల. 'ఏనుంగునకుసిళ్లుసూపినట్టు.' M. IV. v. 92. 'కనుగొనిసాత్యకి యేనుంగునకు సిళ్లుసూపినట్లు కోపంబున.' ib. VI. ii. 311.
