(p. 82) arucu or అరచు aruṭsu. [Tel.] v. n. To cry, shout, bawl. బొబ్బలుపెట్టు, కూయు, మొరపెట్టు, ఏడ్చు. అరుపు or అరుపు arupu. [Tel. from అరుచు.] n. A great or loud noise, clamour, cry. కూత, కేక.

(p. 87) alati or అలంతి alati. [Tel.] adj. Little, small. స్వల్పమైన, చిన్న, సూక్ష్మమైన, అలతినగవు, అనగా చిరునవ్వు. 'బలుపు చూపినదేమొ యలతినడుము.' N. vii. 18. అలతి or అలంతి n. A trifle, a small thing అల్పము, స్వల్పము. 'అలతులబోవు తప్పె, యిదియైనను.' TUR. vi. 20. అలతులు or అలంతులు n. plu. Low wretches, mean men.. అల్పులు. (p. 108) āku āku. [Tel.] n. A leaf of any sort. A petal. పత్రము, దళము. A betel, or palmyra leaf; also the leaf on which the Hindus eat their food. విస్తరాకు An ear-ring. చెవి కమ్మ. Young rice (paddy) not yet transplanted. Any herb: young sprouts of corn. A flake as ఆకు ఉప్పు a flake of salt. Any filament. The radius or spoke of a wheel. The shutter of a blind. ఆకులతలుపు a venetian door. Also, a chit, note or short letter. చీటి; a loan bond. ఇచ్చిపుచ్చుకోలు పత్రము. This word prefixed to others generally denotes green; as ఆకుతేలు a green scorpion, and ఆకుమిడత a green cricket. ఆడంగులకంటె మగవారు ఏడాకులు ఎక్కువ చదివినారు men have read seven pages further than women; that is, men are tenfold worse than women; or, are their masters in wickedness. నీ పేరు ఆకునపోకన అంటకుండా చెప్పుతాను. I shall mention (or use) your name with great caution. ఆకు అలము āku-alamu. n. Greens, herbs, vegetables. (The word అలము here has no definite sense.) ఆకుకూరలు or కూరాకులు āku-kūralu. n. Potherbs, garden stuff. ఆకు చాటున āku-ṭsāṭana. adj. In ambush, hidden, veiled, screened. ఆకుచిరుతపులి āku-chiruta-puli. n. A small species of leopard. ఆకుచిలక āku-chilaka. n. A butterfly, or a green parrot. ఆకుజెముడు āku-jemuḍu. n. The oleander-leaved spurge. Emphorbia Neriifolia. (See జెముడు.) ఆకుటిల్లు āku-ṭillu. n. A booth or hut of leaves, an arbor of leaves. ఆకుటింట in a booth. ఆకుతీగ the vine that produces the tamala (or betel) leaf. ఆకు తోట a betel garden: a garden in which plants are reared. ఆకుపచ్చ āku-paṭṭsa. n. The colour called sap green. ఆకుపత్రి చెట్టు āku-pattri-cheṭṭu. n. The clove tree. Cassia lignea. a certain game. (H. iii. 190). āka-rarugu. n. A green caterpillar. ఆకుపోత āku-pōta. n. Transplantation of a green crop. ఆకుపోయు āku-pōyu. v. a. To transplant corn. To set the sprouts. ఆకుమడి āku-maḍi. n. A field sown, but the sprouts of which are to be transplanted. (also, called నారుమడి.) ఆకుమడుపు āku-maḍupu. n. A roll of betel leaf. A mode of measurement. ఆకు మొలకాకు The self planting herb. ఆకురాయి āku-rāyi. n. A file (i.e., ఆకు a filament రాయు to rub off.) Also the name of a bird, the cuckoo (F.B.I.) బలుపాకురాయి or ముల్లాకురాయి (from ముల్లు a thorn) a rasp. కత్తి ఆకురాయి a sharp thin file for cutting combs. కమ్మి ఆకురాయి a very small file. వట్రనాకురాయి a three sided file.

(p. 212) ommu ommu. [Tel.] v. n. To agree or suit, సరిపడు. To thrive. వర్థిల్లు. ఈ భూమి నాకు ఒమ్మలేదు this climate does not agree with me. ఒమ్మి ఉండే salubrious. ఒమ్ము ommu. n. Bigness, plumpness స్థౌల్యము, బలుపు. ఒమ్ము ommu. adj. Big, plump. ఒమ్మెత్తు to become big, or plump, To swell. ' ఒమ్ముగాణ్పించెబలుగజనిమ్మపండ్లు.' T. iii. 57.

(p. 611) dobbu dobbu. [Tel.] v. a. To shove, poke, push. తోయు. To cohabit, or lie with. To ravish or rape. పడదొబ్బు to knock down. దొబ్బుకొనిపోవు to run away with, ఎత్తుకొనిపారిపోవు. n. A push, a thrust. ఇట్లు చేసినయెడల దొబ్బులువచ్చును if you do this you will be scolded or beaten. దొబ్బలుపడు to suffer blows, to be abused. దొబ్బలుపెట్టు to abuse, to reprimand. దొబ్బించుకొను dobbinṭsu-konu. v. n. To copulate. దొబ్బుడాయి dobbu-ḍāyi. n. Tympany or windy dropsy. Fatness, pride, మదము, గర్వము. దొబ్బులాట dobbul-āṭa. n. Hugging, cuddling. Buffets. Fumbling.

Fatness, strength, increase. బలుపు. సమృద్ధి. మాటలపుష్టి a farrago of words, wordiness. ధాతుపుష్టి fullness of pulse. వారు పుష్టిగానున్నారు or పుష్టులుగానున్నారు they are well to do. ఛాతు పుష్టిలేని impotent. వానివద్ద రూకలు పుష్టిగా నున్నవి he has plenty of money. పుష్టము pushṭamu. adj. Cherished, nourished, పోషింపబడిన. పుషితము pushitamu. adj. Nourished, nurtured, reared, fostered. పోషింపబడిన.

(p. 787) peṭṭu peṭṭu. [Tel.] v. n. To happen. కలుగు. ఉ. హరి. v. a. To put, place. ఉంచు. To lay (eggs), to bring forth (young), కను. To wear, ధరించు. To give, ఇచ్చు. When the verb పెట్టు is added to certain verbs like విడుచు, it means Altogether. బొత్తిగా విడిచిపెట్టు to give up entirely. This verb has numerous senses peculiar to certain nouns under which it will be found. పిల్లలుపెట్టు to bear young ones. గుడ్లుపెట్టు to lay eggs. ఆశపెట్టు to tive hopes, tantalise. ఆ తప్పును వానిమీద పెట్టిరి they laid the fault on him. ఆమెకు నూరు రూపాయిల సొమ్ము పెట్టినాడు he gave her a hundred rupees worth of jewels. అన్నముపెట్టు to serve or help food at dinner. కావలిపెట్టు to put a guard over. అపరాధముపెట్టు to pay a fine. నైవేద్యము పెట్టు to offer an oblation. బొబ్బలుపెట్టు to yell. బాధపెట్టు to torture. కనిపెట్టు to watch, to find out, to wait. చెట్లుపెట్టు to plant trees. అట్లు చెయవద్దని నాకు ఒట్లు పెట్టినాడు he adjured me not to do so. పాళ్లుపెట్టు to divide or separate into shares. గురిపెట్టు to take aim. కఠిన పథ్యము పెట్టినాడు he put him on strict diet. అంగడి or దుకాణముపెట్టు to open a shop. ఈ మాటను అంగడిలో పెట్టవద్దు do not talk of this publicity. గోడపెట్టు to build a wall. It is also added to many verbs sometimes without altering the meaning. Thus, చేర్చిపెట్టు or కూడబెట్టు to accumulate store up. పరుండబెట్టు to put to bed. దాచిపెట్టు to conceal or hide. 'ఎవ్వనియింటికి నేడు వారాసులు పెట్టనికోటయై పెరుగుచుండు' Molla. v. 48. దానిని ఒకపెట్టు పెట్టినాడు he gave her a slap. గోడపెట్టు చెంపపెట్టు రెండును వచ్చినవి his luck was bad in both ways. పెట్టుపోతలు శాశ్వతములుకావు meat and drink are momentary matters. మాటలు మా అమ్మవి, పెట్టుసవతితల్లిది the words are those of a mother, but the acts are those of a step-mother. నాల్గుపెట్లు four times. ఒకపెట్టున all at once, simultaneously. పెట్టించు peṭṭinṭsu. v. a. To have it placed or put, &c. మరొకరు ఉంచునట్లు చేయు. నాకు అన్నము పెట్టించినాడు he had food given me. పెట్టుకొను peṭṭu-konu. v. a. To keep, or put, for one's own advantage or use, ఉంచుకొను. కొడుకునకు తన తండ్రిపేరు పెట్టుకొన్నాడు he gave the boy his father's name. ఏముఖము పెట్టుకొని మాట్లాడును has he the face to speak? పెట్టుకోలు peṭṭu-kōlu. n. The act of keeping, పెట్టుకొనుట. పెట్టుచెట్టు peṭṭu-cheṭṭu. n. An epithet of the కల్పవృక్షము. పెట్టుడు peṭṭuḍu. n. Giving, charity, ఈవి, త్యాగము, దానము. పెట్టుబడి peṭṭu-baḍi. n. Money advanced or laid out. An outlay. పెట్టుమండు peṭṭu-mandu. n. A medicine given to acquire complete influence over another, తనకు లోబడియుండుటకుగాను పెట్టేమందు, వశ్యౌషధము. పెట్టుపడు peṭṭu-paḍu. v. n. To receive a blow, to be beaten, దెబ్బతిను.

Importance, consequence. భారము. మీ చిత్తమునకు బలువు తోచును you would be displeased. బళువుసుళువు ఎరుగనివాడు one who knows no care. దానిని నెరవేర్చే బళువు తమది it is your business to settle this. బలబళవు ఇంకా తీయలేదు the heaviness or stupor is not yet gone off. నెత్తి బళువు తీరినది there is a weight off my mind. ఆ కురుపు నానాటికి బళువుచేస్తున్నది the boil becomes more painful day by day. adj.
