(p. 11) antariñcu antarinṭsu. [Skt.] v. n. To pass over, to cross. 'బహుదేశము లంతరించుచున్.' J. Bhar. v. To perish, die. చచ్చు, నశించు. 'అట్లయైన సత్పుత్రుడుదయించు నకుచియైన గర్భమంతరించు,' Vish. 2. 366. 'సుతశోకవిపద్ధశ సంతరించినన్.' R. 5. 74.

(p. 15) ampakamu or అంపకాలు ampakamu. [Tel.] n. Permission to go; dismission. An entertainment given to a friend on the occasion of his departure. పంపించడము, సెలవు విందుచేసి సాగనంపడము, బహుమానమిచ్చిపంపడము. అంపకముచేయు to dismiss, send away. అల్లునికి అంపకము చేసి పంపిరి they gave the son-in-law the entertainment preparatory to his departure and sent him away. 'బ్రహ్మసభకేనుబోయి కొంత, కాలముదుండి యజుడంపకంబుసేయ, మానవసరంబునకువచ్చి.' H. 4. 7

(p. 28) accāḷi or అచ్చాళు aṭṭsāḷi. (K) One who lives a single life, an unmarried person. ఒంటిమనిషి, ఏకాంగిగా మండేవాడు, సంసారపు పీకులాటలేనివాడు అచ్చాళుగానుండు or అచ్చాళిగానుండు to be alone, to be quiet, free from perturbation. 'చారుశిలాముఖ్యజలజలోచనల, చేరికాబంధుల చెలులనీక్షణమె, పగరకుజొరరాక బహుదుర్గమార్గ, మగుకోహళమహర్షి యాశ్రమస్థలిని, జేరిచి మనము నిశ్చింతనేతెంచి, యారూఢిబలయుక్తి నచ్చాళిగాగ, అనికిసన్నద్ధులమై యందమవల.' Pātivratya. 35.

(p. 32) aṭṭahāsamu aṭṭa-hāsamu. [Skt.] n. Violent, phrenzied laughter. Vehement action, exceeding effort or exertion. Toil, pains, laborious efforts. Pomp. 'అట్టహాసంబున నడరెడు తెరనూరు.' N. ix. 31. నా కూతురిని పంపితేనేగాని కూడదని అట్టహాసము చేస్తాడు he protests violently that his daughter shall go with him. రాజు బహు అట్టహాసముతో బయలుదేరినాడు the king set out with great pomp. అట్టహాసకాడు n. A pompous or ostentatious man.

(p. 35) aḍava aḍava. [Tel.] adj. Old, damaged. పాతదైన, బహుదినాలదైన. అడవసరుకులు old damaged goods. అడవ అప్పు a bad debt.

(p. 38) aḍḍasārelu or అడ్డసాళ్లు aḍḍa-sārelu. [Tel.] n. plu. Dice. సాగటాల పాచికలు. 'ఇపుడిచట పాసగునేయవి, మత్సాయక ములడ్డసాళ్లే' M. VII. i. 337. 'శకునిచేతి యడ్డసారెలు గావు గాండీ విముక్త బహుపటిష్ఠ బాణమూర్తి.' ib. VII. v. 29.

(p. 59) anēka an-ēka. [Skt. lit not one] adj. Several, many. బహు, పెక్కు. అనేకత్వము an-ēkatvamu. [Skt.] n. Abundance, బహుత్వము. అనేకవము n. The elephant. ఏనుడ. అనేకాక్షరము a polysyllable. అనేకమంది or అనేకులు n. plu. Many persons. శానామంది.

(p. 70) abhinyāsamu abhinyāsamu. [Skt.] n. A fit. A morbid state of the three humours. అంతర్దాహ బహిశ్శీతిములుగల సన్నిపాతవిశేషము, వాతపైత్య శ్లేష్మదోషాలు ప్రకోపించి మూడున్ను సరి అయి చేష్టలు మాటలు క్రమము తప్పి అవశ్యము చంపే సన్నిపాతము.

(p. 79) arayu arayu. [Tel.] v. a. To search, examine, see, observe, know, understand. వెదకు, విచారించు, విమర్శించు, పరికించు, చూచు, ఎరుగు, తెలిసికొను. 'తగువారి నరయంగబంపు.' BD. v. 168. అరయన్, అరయగ, or అరయంగ adv. On examining, or searching for. విచారింపగా. అరయించు (causal of అరయు) To cause to search, to have a search made. వెతికించు. 'పలుకులువేయు నేమిటికి పార్థివుడాత్మ భుజాభృతక్షమాతలమున బుట్టుకీడు బహుధాయరయించి యడంచి.' A iv. 296. అరయిక arayika. [Tel.] n. Examination, search. విచారణ, అరయుట.

(p. 136) idi idi. [Tel.] pron. She, it, this. The 6th case is దీని and the acc. దీనిని as దీని నెరిగింపు declare this. The abl. is దీన or దీనిచేత 'hereby.' plu. ఇవి నాకు చాలా ఇదిగానున్నది I am very much out of sorts. ఆ నడత బహు యిదిగా నున్నది that conduct is not the thing, is so and so. ఇదిగో, or ఇదుగో idigō [ఇది+కొమ్ము lit take this] interj. Look! do you see! behold! here it is! ఇదుగో యిస్తాను అదుగో యిస్తున్నానని అంటాడు he puts me off with empty promises Lit. Here I will give it, there I will give it, says he. ఇదుగో వస్తానని చెప్పెను or ఇదుగో వచ్చెదననెను he promised to return presently. ఇదె Same as ఇదిగో.

(p. 136) ināmu or ఈనాము ināmu. [H.] Inam, a present of gift; land granted by the Government rent free for ever or subject to a small quit rent. A present by Government. మాన్యము, బహుమానము. ఇనాముదారుడు a holder of an inam. నెత్తురుకట్టు ఇనాము land granted to such as had shed blood in battle. కదీంయినాము an old bequest. దివిటీయినాము a grant of land to a torchbearer. ఇనాయతుచేయు to grant.

(p. 148) uṇḍi uṇḍi. [Tel. from ఉండు] Past p|| of ఉండు. (An affix) by, through or from మొదలుకొని. బహుకాలము నుండి from a long time. n. A poor's box. ఉండి or హుండి. (q. v.)

(p. 150) uccāvacamu uchchā-vachamu. [Skt.] adj. Diverse: not of one sort, in all sorts of ways. బహుప్రకారములుగలది, అన్ని విధాలను. ఉచ్చావచముగా uchchā-vachamu-gā. adv. Up and down, high and low. నన్ను ఉచ్చావచముగా తిట్టినాడు he called me all sorts of names.

(p. 173) uhuhu uhuhu. [Tel.] n. Shivering from excessive cold. (Imitative of the noise then made.) బహుశీతోసేతంబై యుహుహూ యనివడకె లోకమర్వీవాథా. భాగ. x.

(p. 261) kaḷa or కల kaḷa. [Skt.] n. A degree, or sub-division. భాగము. That which proceeds by degrees, as effect, virtue, potency, influence, inclination. A ray or light. Look or appearance. A phase of the moon, of which the Hindus reckon sixteen. The degree in which one night's moon-light differs from that of the next. ముప్పది కాష్ఠలకాలము. చంద్రునిలో పదునారవ భాగము. In Telugu Grammar, a word that does not end with an N sound. A note, as being a subdivision of music. The nerves or ticklish parts of the body. దీపముయొక్క కళ the brightness of lamp. అతని ముఖ కళ his air, the effect of his features. పిచ్చికళ a look of madness. క్రూరకళ an angry look. నిద్రకళ drowsiness. కళాస్థానములు the nerves. 'కళలు చెమ్మగిలన్.' (T. ii. 82.) her heart melted: it touched her to the quick. ఈ గాడ్పుకళలనన్నిటిని పీల్చుచున్నది this burning wind exhausts the spirits దేహకళావ్యత్యయము a morbid affection: an injured constituion. దానికళ బహు బాగా ఉన్నది She has a very pretty air. పెద్దదయ్యేటప్పటికి కళవచ్చినది She is growing very pretty. కళ [Tel.] n.
