(p. 35) aḍaru aḍaru. [Tel.] v. n. To arise, to issue, to come. To arise, as fear. To be fit or proper: to shine. పుట్టు, కలుగు, జనించు, వచ్చు; భయపడు, ఒప్పు, అతిశయించు, వర్థిల్లు, ప్రకాశించు, వ్యాపించు. 'అడరునవీన భానుకిరణానలమంటి.' Swa. iii. 83. 'ఇంపడర బ్రోచుగదమ్మ.' H. i. 89.

(p. 35) aḍalu aḍalu. [Tel.] v. n. To grieve, be in sorrow, be afraid. దుఃఖపడు, చింతించు, భయపడు, వ్యాకులపడు, బిగ్గిరగా రోదనము చేయు. 'నను నిముషంబుగానక యున్న యూరెల్ల నరయు మజ్జినకుడెంతడలు నొక్కొ.' Swa. ii. 18.

(p. 35) aḍalu aḍalu. [Tel.] adj. Grieving, fearing. వ్యాకులపడే, భయపడే. 'అడలు రతిమణిచందంబున.' Swa. iii. 13.

(p. 43) adaru or అదురు adaru. [Tel.] v. n. To tremble, shake, quake, shiver. To dread. కంపించు, భయపడు, భూమి అదురుచున్నది the earth trembles. దాన్ని చూడగానే వాని గుండెలు అదిరినవి his heart quivered to see this. కుడి కన్ను అదురుచున్నది my right eye tingles. వాడు వట-టి అదురుగుండె he is a coward. అడరు or అడురు n. Concussion, shaking, tremour, trembling, fear, కంపనము, చలనము, కొట్టుకొనడము, భయము. భూమి అదురు a tremour or convulsion of the earth. వానికి తండ్రి వద్ద కొంచెము అదురు ఉండవలెను he ought to fear his father. అదరుగడ or అదురుగడ adarugaḍa. [Tel.] n. Daunting, fright. బెదురు. అదరిపడు or అదిరిపడు adari-paḍu. [Tel.] v. n. To caper about, to curvet. ఉలికిపడు. to be arrogant. అదరిపాటు n. Pride. అదరిపాటున. adv. Suddenly, unexpectedly. ఏమరిపాటున, 'అదరిపాటున వారాళియుదుటు చూచి.' N. i. 126.

(p. 47) adhīrata a-dhīrata. [Skt.] Absence of self command, cowardice. అధీరము adj. Cowardly, confused. భయపడే, చంచలమైన.

(p. 157) udila udila. [Tel.] n. Trouble, grief, regret, పరితాపము. Discouragement, timidity, cowardice. పిరికితనము, అధైర్యము. ఉదిలకొను udila-konu. v. i. To be afraid. భయపడు; to lose heart, to grieve, to regret పరితపించు. 'ఏనరుడుమాన సముధృతి, నూనను చితివృత్తి నుండి యుదిలగొనక.' M. XII. iii. 166.

(p. 168) uri uri. [Tel.] n. A noose or slipping knot: a snare. ఉచ్చు. కాలురి a snare for the feet. ఉరికోల uri-kōla. n. A rod attached to a noose. ఉరితాడు uri-tāḍu. n. A halter, a tether, a rope to tie a cow's legs when it is being milked. ఉరితీయు or ఉరిపోయి uri-tīyu. v. t. To hang: strangle. ఉరు పోసికొను uri-pōsi-konu. v. i. To hang one self. ఉరియాడు uri-yāḍu. To move, tremble, fear, చలించు, భయపడు. M. ix. ii. 105. ఉరియాట moving to and fro. చలించుట, ఊగులాడుట.

(p. 170) ulikipaḍu uliki-paḍu. [Tel.] v. n. To start, shake. హటాత్తుగా గలిగిన భయము చేత కంపించు. To be afraid. భయపడు. ఉలికిపాటు uliki-pāṭu. n. A start, tremor, shudder.

(p. 187) eda eda. [Tel.] n. The heart. Fear. Growth. ఎదనుపెట్టు to keep or cherish in the bosom. ఎదపడు eda-paḍu. v. i. To be alarmed. భయపడు. ఎదాన (for ఎదను) వేసికొను to purloin, to abstract or misapply. ఎదాయెదలు dispersed, scattered.

(p. 217) ōḍu ōḍu. [Tel.] v. n. or v. a. To fail, lose, to be defeated or worsted, అపజయపడు. To flow or be lost, as blood, పారు. To shrink, hesitate, fall back భయపడు, సంకోచించు. ఆట ఓడినాడు he lost the game. జీవహింసకోడి shrinking or hesitating to take away life. ఓడుపడు to be frightened. వర్రు ఓడ అనగా ప్రవాహముగా పారు to rush, as a flood. M. Xiii. ii. 451. మీమోము చూడనోడి unable to look you in the face. ఓడకోడకు fly not! flee not.

(p. 313) koṅku konku. [Tel.] v. n. To be timid, alarmed: to fear, to dread, to hesitate. భయపడు, వెనుదీయు, సంకోచించు. n. Fear. Timidity, shyness. వెనుదీయుట. Hesitation. సంకోచము. Shame, scruple. surmise. Distortion, as that of a cripple. కొంకుకొసరులేని careless and heedless. కొంకుపోవక unterrified. కొంకుపడు konku-paḍu. v. n. To fear. భయపడు. To hesitate సంకోచించు. To trip, stumble, blunder. కొంకుపాటు fearing, hesitation. కొంకుపోవు konku-pōvu. n. To become crooked or bent. కొంకరలుపోవు.

(p. 325) kōca kōṭsa. [Tel. from కొంచు to fear.] n. Cowardice; a coward. పిరికి, భీరువు. కోచపారు kōcha-pāru. n. To be afraid. భయపడు.
