(p. 27) acala a-chala. [Skt. lit. not shaking.] n. The earth, as being stable. భూమి. అచలము n. A mountain, a hill. అచలుడు n. He who is firm.

(p. 43) adaru or అదురు adaru. [Tel.] v. n. To tremble, shake, quake, shiver. To dread. కంపించు, భయపడు, భూమి అదురుచున్నది the earth trembles. దాన్ని చూడగానే వాని గుండెలు అదిరినవి his heart quivered to see this. కుడి కన్ను అదురుచున్నది my right eye tingles. వాడు వట-టి అదురుగుండె he is a coward. అడరు or అడురు n. Concussion, shaking, tremour, trembling, fear, కంపనము, చలనము, కొట్టుకొనడము, భయము. భూమి అదురు a tremour or convulsion of the earth. వానికి తండ్రి వద్ద కొంచెము అదురు ఉండవలెను he ought to fear his father. అదరుగడ or అదురుగడ adarugaḍa. [Tel.] n. Daunting, fright. బెదురు. అదరిపడు or అదిరిపడు adari-paḍu. [Tel.] v. n. To caper about, to curvet. ఉలికిపడు. to be arrogant. అదరిపాటు n. Pride. అదరిపాటున. adv. Suddenly, unexpectedly. ఏమరిపాటున, 'అదరిపాటున వారాళియుదుటు చూచి.' N. i. 126.

(p. 74) amāni amānī. [H.] Land in charge of a revenue collector on the part of the government, as distinguished from that which is farmed out. అమానీగ్రామములు villages under the immediate care of a collector. ఆముఠా అమానీ అయిన తరువాత after the land was taken into the collector's own charge. ఆశ్రోత్రియమును అమానీదాఖలు చేసుకొన్న తరువాత after the land held on private tenure was taxed. అమానిభూములు Crown lands, lands that are in the hands of a collector on behalf of Government. అమానీబాజీబాబు sundry farms under a Collector's management. పన్ను లేకుండా మేడిపాలు ఇచ్చే భూమి.

(p. 85) arpaṇamu arpaṇamu. [Skt.] n. An offering, dedication, delivering up. Placing. ప్రదానము, ఉంచడము. అంకురార్పణము the offering of buds to a god. అర్పించు arpinṭsu. v. a. To offer, dedicate. ఇచ్చు. తనసొమ్మునంతా పరులకు అర్పించు కూర్చున్నాడు he gave up all his goods and became a beggar. అర్పితము arpitamu. [Skt.] adj. Offered, dedicated. ఇవ్వబడ్డ. కంఠార్పితభూషణము an ornament placed on the neck. ఆ గ్రామము సముద్రార్పితము అయినది the village became the prey of the sea. తన తండ్రికి అర్పితముగా కొంత భూమిని దానము చేసినాడు he gave some land as a gift in memory of his father.

(p. 86) alagā alagā. [H.] adj. Separate, unconnected. ప్రత్యేకమైన, అలగాభూమి pasture-land, waste land kept for grazing. అలగా పుల్లరి grazing tax levied on cattle not belonging to the village. అలగా అసామి a private individual, one not concerned, not a regular cultivator.

(p. 91) allu allu. [Tel.] v. a. To plait, braid, weave, wattle rods or twigs, &c., together. గంపలల్లు to weave baskets. చాపలల్లుతాడు he plaits mats. పద్యములల్లు to compose verses. అబద్ధాలల్లు to fabricate lies. తీగెలు చెట్టు మీదికి అల్లినవి the creepers have crept over the tree. కసవు అల్లిన భూమి land overgrown with grass. n. అల్లిక (q.v.)

(p. 94) avani avani. [Skt.] n. The earth. భూమి. అవనీవరుడు or అవనీతలేంద్రుడు a king. అవనీమరుడు a Brahmin.

(p. 106) ākaramu ākaramu. [Skt.] n. A mine: foundation: basis, authority. గని, అస్థిభారము, ఆధారము, సాధకము. Also, a crowd, multitude. సమూహము. ఆకరము ākaramu. [Tel.] n. Anger. ఆగ్రహము. 'వీకబరతెంచినల్గడ దాకిన గడునల్గిఘోరతరశరహతిన మ్మూకలు విరియగనర్జును డాకరముననేసెను గ్రుడయిరణభూమిన్.' భార: ఆది. viii.

(p. 114) ādhāramu ādhāramu. [Skt.] n. Support, prop, stay. ఆ చేనికి ఈ బావే ఆధారము this well is the sole support of that field; that land depends wholly on this well. జలాధారము లేని భూమి land that has no water convenience.

(p. 159) udbhajjamu , ఉద్భత్తు, ఉద్భిదము ud-bhijjamu. [Skt.] n. Sprouting, germinating, shooting. A. v. 114. భూమిని భేదించుకొని పుట్టునది. ఉద్భేదము ud-bhēdamu adj. Breaking or bursting through, as a shoot through the ground. పుట్టిన.

(p. 169) urvara urvara. [Skt.] n. The earth, fruitful soil. నేల. ఉర్వి urvi. n. The earth. భూమి. ఉర్వీశుడు urv-īṣuḍu. (ఉర్వి+ఈశుడు) n. A king, a ruler.
